Inside Pan Pacific Singapore’s 40th Anniversary Celebrations — Dining, Staycations & Memories

| |
0 comments
Hi Huneybees,

There are some places in Singapore that quietly become part of our memories without us even realising it and Pan Pacific Singapore is definitely one of them...

Whether it was admiring its iconic atrium, celebrating special occasions over endless buffet spreads at Edge, or simply passing by Marina Bay and spotting its unmistakable silhouette against the skyline; Pan Pacific Singapore has long felt like one of those landmarks woven into the story of Singapore itself. And this year, the hotel celebrates a truly incredible milestone - 40 years of hospitality excellence!

Opened in 1986 as one of Singapore’s pioneering luxury hotels, Pan Pacific Singapore has spent the last four decades evolving alongside the city. Today, the hotel stands proudly in the heart of Marina Bay with 790 guestrooms and suites, award-winning dining concepts, wellness facilities, and expansive event spaces that have hosted countless celebrations, weddings, conferences, and milestones through the years.

But what makes this anniversary feel especially meaningful is how much of Singapore’s own journey seems reflected within its walls.

A Hotel That Grew Together With Singapore

Over the years, Pan Pacific Singapore has continuously reinvented itself while still holding onto the elegance and warmth many guests remember fondly.

Some of the hotel’s biggest transformations include the launch of the Ocean Ballroom in 2000, which strengthened its place as one of Singapore’s leading MICE destinations, followed by a major room refurbishment in 2012. That same year also saw the opening of Edge, which is now one of Singapore’s most recognisable buffet restaurants; alongside the relocation of the Pacific Club Lounge to Level 38, offering panoramic 360-degree views across Marina Bay and the city skyline.

And honestly… if you’ve ever stepped into the hotel lobby before, you’ll probably remember those iconic floating pods suspended dramatically within the atrium. They’ve practically become part of the hotel’s identity at this point.

The transformations continued through the years with refreshed event spaces, a revitalised pool oasis, the serene Keyaki Garden Pavilion, and newer lifestyle concepts like Pacific Emporium and PLUME with each adding another layer to the Pan Pacific experience. It's nice to see that despite evolving with modern luxury trends, the hotel still retains that unmistakable old-school grandeur that many newer hotels simply can’t replicate.

More Than A Hotel — A Piece Of Singapore’s Story

Here's some fun facts about the hotel...

Pan Pacific Singapore was actually the first hotel in Singapore to introduce NETS back in 1986.

It also appeared in the 1988 comedy film Carry On Hotel, featuring familiar Hong Kong stars including Jacky Cheung, Cherie Chung and Eric Tsang,  adding a fun little pop culture chapter to the hotel’s legacy.

Even more heartwarming is the fact that some associates working at the hotel today have been there since its pre-opening days 40 years ago. That says a lot about the culture and people behind the brand. Because at the end of the day, luxury hospitality isn’t just about beautiful interiors or fancy experiences. It’s the people who create the memories guests carry home with them.

Celebrating 40 Years With Special Experiences

To mark the occasion, Pan Pacific Singapore is rolling out a full year of celebratory experiences across its restaurants, bars, spa, and staycation offerings, which I think some of these deals are pretty tempting ~~~

A Staycation Worth Celebrating

Of course, no anniversary celebration would feel complete without a staycation.

The hotel’s “40th Anniversary Stay Package” includes a one-night stay with breakfast at Edge and welcome drinks at PLUME, inviting guests to experience the same warm hospitality that has defined Pan Pacific Singapore for the past four decades.

And considering how many Singaporeans have their own memories tied to this hotel — from weddings and anniversaries to family gatherings and festive celebrations — it almost feels less like checking into a hotel and more like revisiting a familiar piece of the city.

There's the “Stay and Savour” meetings package offers special rates for events booked from now until 30 June 2026, for events taking place between now and 30 September 2026. Savour an exclusive culinary experience featuring wellness-inspired selections, regional favourites, and local specialities. Art, Community & Looking Ahead

Beyond dining and luxury experiences, the anniversary celebrations also include “A Voyage of Hue and Imagination,” an art showcase by Dr. Lowly displayed within the hotel’s public art space on Level 2 of Pan Pacific Singapore, from now until 1 June 2026.

It highlights his signature "Squeeze and Splatter" technique - dynamic bursts of acrylic that transform spontaneity into structure and disorder into visual poetry. Inspired by nature and emotion, Dr. Lowly’s works explore imagination, impermanence, and hope. Each canvas becomes a dance between control and release, echoing experience, mystery, and renewal. His art celebrates both the fleeting grace of the natural world and the quiet resilience of the human spirit. In support of a meaningful cause, Dr. Lowly will donate 100% of proceeds from the sale of two artworks, “Ferocious Focus” and “Stripped Stare,” to the Children’s Cancer Foundation.

The hotel is also continuing its partnership with Dementia Singapore, supporting dementia awareness initiatives and community programmes. Through this partnership, Pan Pacific Singapore offers exclusive stay and dining privileges to members of CARA, Dementia Singapore’s lifestyle and community platform connecting persons living with dementia and caregivers to a supportive ecosystem of solutions.

The collaboration also creates opportunities for Pan Pacific Singapore employees to participate in dementia advocacy efforts, including awareness talks by Dementia Singapore and internal training programmes organised by the hotel to enhance understanding of dementia-related issues within the hospitality sector.

With so much to offer, it’s not just about commemorating 40 years of luxury, it’s about celebrating four decades of stories, people, memories, and moments that became part of Singapore’s own journey too!

Happy 40th Anniversary, Pan Pacific Singapore.
Here’s to many more beautiful memories ahead. 🐝

A Taste of Home: Discover Local-Inspired Afternoon Tea at Pacific Emporium, Pan Pacific Singapore

Hi Huneybees,

Looking for a unique afternoon tea that celebrates Singapore’s rich culinary roots? Step into Pacific Emporium at Pan Pacific Singapore, where a refreshed afternoon tea experience awaits, crafted with heart, heritage, and a whole lot of flavour.

Nestled on Level 1 of the hotel, this all-day gourmet café brings a modern twist to tradition, led by the newly appointed Executive Pastry Chef Edina Si. If her name sounds familiar, it’s because Chef Edina has been making waves in the pastry world for years, and now, she’s back at Pan Pacific Singapore to lead the charge with her signature style.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Meet the Chef Behind the Magic

Chef Edina’s journey began in a family kitchen, guided by her mother’s culinary skills and her grandmother’s baking wisdom. That early passion took her all the way to Le Cordon Bleu in Paris at just 16, where she trained in both cuisine and pastry.

From there, she honed her craft under legendary chefs like Chef Yamashita Masataka and Chef Jérôme Chaucesse, and even collaborated with pastry stars like Cédric Grolet and Nicolas Paciello during her time at Fauchon. Her style is global, but her heart remains rooted in local flavours—using the best of Singaporean ingredients to tell stories through dessert.

Her return to Pan Pacific Singapore marks a homecoming, having previously served as Assistant Pastry Chef. Now at the helm of the pastry team, Chef Edina is setting a new standard across the hotel - from weddings and events to the award-winning buffet restaurant Edge, and of course, the showstopping afternoon tea at Pacific Emporium.

_________________________________________________________________________________

An Afternoon Tea That Feels Like Home

This isn't your typical high tea. Chef Edina and her team have designed an afternoon experience that’s a true celebration of Singapore’s diverse flavours, with a little something for everyone. (Available daily with two seatings: 1:00pm–3:00pm & 4:00pm–6:00pm._

Start your journey with Nyonya Bloom, a refreshing welcome drink infused with peach, passionfruit, aromatic pandan, and rich gula melaka. Then, take your time with a delightful spread of savoury bites:

  • Otah-otah with Five Spice Meringue

  • Spicy Prawn and Mango Toast

  • Tamarind Beef Pastrami on Rye

  • Scallop & XO Butter Sandwiches

  • Quail Parfait & Gula Melaka Tart

Got a sweet tooth? You’re in luck. The dessert selection is just as inspired, featuring:

  • Peranakan Tile (yes, it’s as pretty as it sounds)

  • Citrus Osmanthus Mousse

  • Teh Halia Cheesecake

  • Black Sesame Mochi Tart

  • Chilli Chocolate Éclair

  • Freshly baked Classic & Date Scones

____________________________________________________________________

Something Special, Every Day of the Week

On weekdays, your three-tiered tea stand is joined by a rotating local delight; think Lobster Pie Tee, Beef Cheek Rendang, Penang Prawn Noodle Soup, or Mee Siam for that comforting local touch.

On weekends, the experience gets even more indulgent with a buffet-style afternoon tea. You’ll find unlimited servings at the Chef’s Speciality Showcase (yes, more rendang!), a DIY Lobster Pie Tee station, and sweet treats like classic waffles with ice cream.

Pair your tea with a selection of TWG teas or Lavazza coffee, or take things up a notch with a glass of Taittinger Brut Réserve Champagne for that special occasion sparkle.

Chef Edina's signature creations - Blue Pea Lychee Calamansi Cake, Rum Raisin Manjari Gateau, and Single Origin 72% Chocolate Cake can be found at the Pacific Emporium.

Whether you’re catching up with friends or treating yourself to a peaceful midday escape, Pacific Emporium’s local-inspired afternoon tea is more than just a meal; it’s a heartfelt journey through flavours that feel like home.

You can also savour Chef Edina’s signature creations at Pacific Emporium — each cake thoughtfully crafted to highlight bold flavours and refined textures:

  • Single Origin 72% Chocolate Cake – A celebration of cacao in its purest form, this indulgent dessert is made with 72% dark chocolate from Venezuela. Smooth ganache complements the gentle bitterness of the chocolate, letting its rich, layered notes take centre stage.

  • Blue Pea Lychee Calamansi Cake – This elegant cake blends natural blue pea flower cream with the tropical sweetness of lychee and the citrusy zing of calamansi cremeux. Light, floral, and refreshingly tart, it's a delicate balance of flavour and colour.

  • Rum Raisin Manjari Gâteau – Golden sultanas are soaked in dark rum for over a month, then folded into a luscious rum-infused chocolate mousse. Set atop a flourless chocolate sponge, this cake is deep, fruity, and irresistibly rich — with just the right touch of boozy warmth.
