5 Things I Like About 29Rooms: Lost and Found

Hi Huneybees,

Get ready to up your selfie game and immerse into the most creative playground as 29Rooms: Lost and Found begins tomorrow. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, this will be the It space for all IG and Tik Tok aficionados. So get your camera gear ready, and gather your partners and BFFs for this fun-filled experience at Gardens by the Bay.

Debuted in 2015 in New York, 29Rooms is the creation of the digital publication platform Refinery29 and its parent company Vice Media. The event has seen the likes of Lizzo and Emma Roberts curating immersive experiences at earlier editions and this is the first time the event has stepped out of the US.

As the name suggests, there are 29 rooms, each with a unique theme and setup for you to experience. Covering a massive area of 4,500 m sq, the Singapore edition features local and international artists, these rooms are not just about looking good for selfie shots, but are also interactive thought invoking too!

1) Mysterious sets the mood

Stepping into the first room, a dark forest will be greeting you. A strong spotlight at the end beckons to you and as you walk through this "prepping" space with the scent of bergamot and sandalwood, several questions on the wall might trigger certain thoughts and emotions.

2) Are Our Lives Too Monochromatic?

The main attraction of the exhibition is Merry-Go-Round, a themed room exclusive to Singapore. In it are 6 different time-stamped monochromatic spaces in which the average Singaporean sits throughout the day: public transport, office chairs, coffee shops, living rooms, toilets, and bedrooms. It makes me wonder if my life is too average?

3) Celebrity Experience

Take a break from the bright colours and step into the Billie Eilish room. Inspired by her perfume - Eilish No.2, the whole room is dimly lit and draped in gold, with a gold bust (just like the fragrance bottle) set in the back of the room. The room is all about a sensory experience with projections of her playing on the translucent fabrics hung from the ceiling and whiffs of her perfume (notes of sugared petals, vanilla, mandarin, red berries, and cocoa) filling the room. It's as though I stepped into a luxurious spa.

Note: Try spotting the hidden room where you can get a 360-degree selfie of yourself, like those taken on the red carpets of award shows.

4) Travel around Asia in minutes

Hop between countries in a matter of minutes? Why not! In the Samsung roomstroll through Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, etc, and get your vids/pics taken with their latest S23 phones. Not only do you get to brag about it, but you also get to experience what their latest Nightography technology is all about.

5) Interactivity

Hands-on activities can be found across a few rooms - feel like an 8-year-old again and doodle or write a diary entry in the "Dora's Diary" room, print transfer a t-shirt to bring home in the "Flag Your Goals" room, or simply break the rules and make a mess of a room in the "Paint Over Your Mess" room, draw whatever you like, write whatever you want!

And when you get tired, why not enjoy a coffee with a friend or even a stranger on the seesaw tables in the "Nice to Meet You" cafe or crash a flat party and sip on 3 cocktails made with Monkey Shoulder whisky.

If not, step into the Tiger Beer’s X Room (an 800 sq. m. standalone addition to the 29Rooms’ funhouse that's ticketed separately), where you can grab a free beer and enjoy DJ music acts, dance in the silent disco, enjoy some workshops activities, and even grab some bites as there will be some restaurant pop-ups! More details on the 29rooms website.

There’s just simply so much to experience 29Rooms and I don't want to spoil the magic for you, head on over and check it out yourself. Can't wait to see your pics/vids across on social media platforms!

Make Your Choice : Black Or White ?

Hi Huneybees,

The tiger has once again been uncaged unexpectedly, and this time round, it's either Black Or White!
Please do not be alarmed as I am referring to Singapore's first locally brewed beer - Tiger Beer! *ROAR*

Unveiled to an excited crowd in a wild street party at Holland Village recently, Tiger Beer gave us two new refreshing flavors - Tiger Black and Tiger White - to its list of world class lager selection.

While the Tiger Black may look like a stout in appearance, it is actually less bitter and dry, thanks to the black rice - a rare commodity once served only to the royalty - used to brew this new creation.
Tiger White, on the other hand, looks like just another pale-lager except that the cloudy wheat beer provides a light crisp refreshing experience with a hint taste of coriander, cloves and citrus with an all-round refreshing finish, reminds me of drinking a cider with a lot more complexity or depth.

Personally, I prefer the Tiger Black as the taste started off with a dark toffee taste on my taste bud that eventually led to a dry alcoholic finish, just like Tiger Beer quoted ‘Be Bold’. It was evident to see most people shared my humble opinion as the Tiger Black often disappeared in seconds (no kidding...) the moment 2 buckets of both choices were delivered to my table.

Do try these new creations from Tiger today and let me know your experience and your pick between the two. Remember to drink responsibly. #UncageTheUnexpected

Enjoy Christmas With The All New Tiger Radler Mandarin Orange

Hi Huneybees,

The weekends are always my favourite time, coz I have hubby to myself for 2 whole days before he disappear for work again. Saturdays and Sundays are our couple time as well as friends time, so drinks are definitely something we won't be missing.

Thanks to Tiger Beer for the timely package, we were treated to the all new Tiger Radler Mandarin Orange beer!

I'm always a fan of fruit beers and the Tiger Radler with the touch of lemon zest has been on my top list, but oops, guess I might have to stash that aside for I'm picking a new favourite for this festive season!

I know a lot of friends have been telling me that it feels more for Chinese New Year, given the gold orange touch to the packaging, but this orangey, fruity burst goes well with red meat; like the turkey we are gona be feasting on this December too!

You can enjoy the drinks as it is, but I'm a sucker for chilled beers. Go chill it in the fridge or pour it into a chilled mug to share it with your friends and families!

Cheers to a very Merry Christmas and an amazing 2016!!!

The new Tiger Radler Mandarin Orange is only here for a limited period, so you better be stocking them up ~~~

The Tiger Radler Mandarin Orange (6 x 323ml pack, RSP: $17.80) is available now at all major supermarkets and hypermarkets, while stocks last.

Hi Huneybees,

Sadly what I have shared below is not happening anymore. All thanks to the "amazing" hazy weather here in Singapore, the SPRING WAVE 2015 Will NOT be happening this year. 😢

Yes, we wouldn't want these rockers to injured their vocals with the choking haze and in lieu of the worsening situation, the music festival is called off.

The health, safety and well-being of concert-goers, artistes, partners and staff, which includes the young and old, are the utmost priority of the event organiser - Friendly Dog Entertainment Co., Ltd, in the decision making of an outdoor event.

Did You Vote For What Have Happened at Tiger Beer's Unofficial Official SG50 Party?

Hi Huneybees,

If you were not there at the Unofficial Offical SG50 Party on the 5th August at the reopened Capitol Theater, here's a summary of what have had happened that evening...

As promised by Tiger Beer - You voted, they made it happen - it was a party unlike any before.
Right at the entrance of the party, you would find many Tissue Chope packs that you could finally reserve and seat on, Durian Pillows that you could now hug on to and the Curry Puff pillows that you lay on without fearing it been smashed!

Not far from those pillows were the icons of Singapore, - The Merlion, Marina Bay Sands Hotel, and Ice Kacang - each been sculptured in the most unusual style and proportion, for the viewing pleasure of every invited guest.

The Chilli Crab Fountain was a popular choice among voters
East-meets-west fusion delights at The Unofficial Official Party of SG50

Food wise, beside the "highly elected" Chilli Crab Fountain, which everyone could smell and notice from afar, our local favourites such as Bak Chor Mee, Prata and Hainanese Chicken Rice had been reinvented into some kind of East-Meets-West fusion delights of Bak Chor Mee Burgers, Prata Crepes and Chicken Rice Balls!

Thanks to my friends whom helped to queue for the food, our group managed to try all the delights except Bak Chor Mee Burgers, which was unfortunately the first to be sold out that evening.

Guests looking pretty by the Massage Chair Trishaw during the sudden tropical snowstorm

For those who voted for Snow and though it was a crazy idea and hence an impossible task for the good people of Tiger Beer to realized in the open space atrium of Capitol Theater, they were greeted by a sudden tropical snowstorm that got everyone covering up their drinks and foods for a good few minutes!

But of course, the party didn't stop here.

The Griswolds
In fact, the fun was elevated to a new level once everyone were led to the newly furnished Capitol Theatre to be entertained by the electrifying performances of The Griswolds and The Kooks. It is the very first event to be held at this brand new venue.

Throughout my childhood, Capitol Theatre has been closed for revamp and have never stepped in before. It was lovely to see that most of the internal, vintage beauty was preserved. Can't wait to see more events to come at the theatre!

The Kooks

There was a little problem with the initial acoustic, but that didn't dampen the mood at all.  Fans were more than forgiving when the the 4-piece Australian band - The Grisworlds from Sydney jammed and kept the energy going throughout their set with songs including Down and Out, Right on Track, and crowd favourite If You Wanna Stay

That energy was further amplified by The Kooks, when the the British indie rock sensation went on stage and brought the house down hits after hits, which included Naïve, She Moves In Her Own Way, Junk of The Heart and Always Where I Need To Be.

I better sign off to get some sleep before this evening's NDP Parade, which I'm sure all Singaporean and locally based Huneybees are so looking forward too!
