Make Your Choice : Black Or White ?

Hi Huneybees,

The tiger has once again been uncaged unexpectedly, and this time round, it's either Black Or White!
Please do not be alarmed as I am referring to Singapore's first locally brewed beer - Tiger Beer! *ROAR*

Unveiled to an excited crowd in a wild street party at Holland Village recently, Tiger Beer gave us two new refreshing flavors - Tiger Black and Tiger White - to its list of world class lager selection.

While the Tiger Black may look like a stout in appearance, it is actually less bitter and dry, thanks to the black rice - a rare commodity once served only to the royalty - used to brew this new creation.
Tiger White, on the other hand, looks like just another pale-lager except that the cloudy wheat beer provides a light crisp refreshing experience with a hint taste of coriander, cloves and citrus with an all-round refreshing finish, reminds me of drinking a cider with a lot more complexity or depth.

Personally, I prefer the Tiger Black as the taste started off with a dark toffee taste on my taste bud that eventually led to a dry alcoholic finish, just like Tiger Beer quoted ‘Be Bold’. It was evident to see most people shared my humble opinion as the Tiger Black often disappeared in seconds (no kidding...) the moment 2 buckets of both choices were delivered to my table.

Do try these new creations from Tiger today and let me know your experience and your pick between the two. Remember to drink responsibly. #UncageTheUnexpected

One Final Act For Magic Babe Ning

Hi Huneybees,

Our sexy first female magician from Singapore - Magic Babe Ning has been breaking death defying records for 10 years and she has recently announced her one final act. Not a magic trick any more, but stepping out of the magician's hat, and hopping into a writer's role.

10 years of hard work has given Ning Cai alot of experience and lessons, setting magic aside, her book "Who Is Magic Babe Ning?" is her autobiography, all about who this mysterious lady is , her life experiences and follow her through her ups and downs at every turn page.

Ning sharing her stories through humour, drama as she wrote about her brush with death with her magic acts as well as the brush with oral cancer.
At the book launch, Ning shared and read to her fans alongside her BFF - Pamela Ho. They both wrote a book - "Adventures of 2 Girls" and now it was Pamela's turn to "interview" her buddy. Ning had her friends and families at this intimate book launch at 2am:dessertbar, whilst she shared some of her little secrets that you can find from the book.

Ocean Wang, a good friend of Ning also surprised her with a lovely painting of Magic Babe Ning's signature look...

Ning has stepped down as a magician, but has embarked on a new journey. She is currently overseas for her wedding (Congratulations Babe!) and mid this year, she did a 200-hour yoga teacher training course at Vikasa Yoga in Koh Samui to be a professional yoga instructor. She will be back in January to meet her fans and conduct a very special Magic Workshop.

Ning Cai's autobiography "Who is Magic Babe Ning?" published  by Marshall Cavendish International (Asia) is already available at all good bookstores nationwide and when you grab a copy of the book, don't forget to get a selfie of yourself with the book, as you might be the lucky few to join Ning at the Magic Workshop.

Post it on Facebook or Instagram, hashtag #ningcai, #getdoob and #marshallcavendish. This contest runs for the whole of December and at the end of the month, 12 lucky winners will be chosen to attend the exclusive magic workshop on the afternoon of 31 Jan 2015 at a secret location along Orchard Road. And out of the twelve, one lucky wizard will also get to bring home his/her very own ‘plopsta beanbag!

Come To Gaia Korean Restaurant For Authentic Korea Food

Hi Huneybees,

Everything Korean is the fad these days. I have friends going ga-ga over all the Kpop idols, but for myself, I'm definitely a fan of the Korean cuisine. Here today is Gaia Korean Restaurant which used to be located in Suntec City is now moved to Holland Village!

Gaia Korean Restaurant was founded by Chef Chun Nam Won,  an acclaimed cooking teacher and an author to the book “Step by Step: Cooking Classic Korea.”   It all started when she was diagnosed with cancer several years ago and she realized that eating healthy was the best way to cure. But unfortunately, there were very few choices for her outside of her own kitchen.

So, when she recovered, she opened up Gaia Korean Restaurant to bring home- style, healthy Korean food to those who would like to explore the unique world of Korean food and culture, the healthy way.

'Gaia' was adopted as the name not only because it represents one of the dynasties (Gaya Kingdom) in Korea, but it also means the Mother of Earth in the Greek mythology. Staying true to the name itself, Gaia promises healthy food that is similar to what you will get when you visit your Korean friend's home for a good meal. You can be assured that most of the seasoning, taste and flavors are from the fresh ingredients itself, and none from artificial additions.

When I first stepped into the restaurant, I was invited by the warmth of the restaurant. It feels exactly what you would expect of a Korean home and I was glad they were not blasting Kpop music, instead of soothing music, softly playing in the background, allowing us to be able to chat with each other.

Ok, onto the food. The Banchan was not to be missed, it will be served once you've got your orders taken and served with a warm cup of Solomon seal root tea, to get you started. I love how the dishes were not overly sweetened or saltish and everything were in just-right portions.

For appetizers, we  had the Black Garlic Mushroom Salad. This is something unique to Gaia and it is my must-have recommendation! I'm normally not a garlic type of person, but I was nibbling every bit of this salad. There's a slight vinergar-y taste to it and it's definitely very appetizing!

Then we had the Seafood Pancake. It's very light and different from those that I have at other restaurants. There isn't a thick layer of flour hiding the little ingredients. With Gaia's version, the ingredients were generous and I like the little chilli bits for the slight spicy punch.

Next is the star. Everyone would recognize Korean cuisine with their BBQ and here at Gaia, you can choose from the special platter that is put together for you to enjoy. The grill that they use are specially imported from Korea, which is smokeless when you cook the meat and you won't be leaving the restaurant smelling like BBQ-ed meat!

Last but not least, we had one of the specialty dishes - Haemul Ddukbboki. It's the Korean rice cake boiled in kimchi soup with dumplings, noodles, eggs and enoki mushrooms. It is very filling and it can actually be a main dish on its on. I love the soup as well as the chewy rice cake. *Oh no! I'm hungry again!*

And of course, the best way to enjoy these dishes with your friends, would be to have a nice cup of Makgeolli, sweet rice wine to go with. Cheers!

It was definitely a treat to taste authentic Korean food and if you like, you could even buy home some kimchi or get a copy of Chef Chun's cooking book, or even better, make an arrangement with Gaia to learn how to whip up those Korean dishes!

[Tried & Tested] A Brand New Rupini's @ Holland Village

Hi Huneybees,

Rupini's have recently gone through a face-lift for their branch in Holland Village. Located just opposite of Wala Wala Cafe Bar, the second floor space was big and inviting with a tinge of lavender colours. Stepping in with the fragrance of scented oils, one is immediately relaxed and ready to get pampered.

Rupini's have always been known for their eyebrow threading services, but at this Holland Village branch, they are branching out to all things beauty, including facials, body massages, hair cuts, etc. The name "Rupini" signifies "Beauty" in Tamil and they have successfully operated for 19 years and even opened 2 salons just  for men.

I was invited to try a couple of their services and it started off with a wash and blow service for my hair. It's been awhile since I styled my hair, so it was nice to have my always tangled tresses, a little pampering and showoff my rainbow hair for the day... :)

After which, I had eyebrow threading. I had tried so many different ways to trim my eyebrows and nothing was as smooth going as threading. Waxing and plucking is a long painful process, and sometimes, it might not be precise and shaving is worse, as pores will look so big. Threading is not only painless, it is also quick and precise to shape the brows...

Thank you Rupini's for the treat!

FURBY is back with a BOOM!

Hi Huneybees,

Hi-Ni-Nai! May-Lah- Koh-May-Tah ~

What am I talking about??? Well, that's Furbish -  language that's spoken amongst FURBY. I've been picking up a few sentences ever since I've gotten one for myself. Introducing the all new FURBY BOOM!

Being the hottest toy in 2012, it is set to once again thrill hearts and delight fans of all ages as it makes a comeback mid-August.

FURBY is an animatronic electronic pet, furry and complete with a 'Mind of it Own'. This new generation of FURBY brings a new level of fun by combining physical and digital play, allowing the owners to hatch digital FURBY babies called FURBLINGs via the new app, which will only be available for download at the App Store and Google Play from 21 August 2013 onwards.

The new FURBY comes in 6 new pattern combinations and there will be 4 more on its way in October.

My favourite have got to be this pink/blue/black one. It's so colourful and I love it so much that I even had my nails painted that way at the launch event!

At the event, I also got my eyes dolled up...
So, back to FURBY BOOM, This time the personality of each FURBY BOOM is shaped by how the owner plays and interacts with it, with the possibility of evolving into 5 brand new personalities. So far, I have discovered the rocker, the drama queen, the cutie pie and the evil one. Anyone knows what's the 5th?

Through their large LCD eyes, you can also get to know more about you FURBY BOOM, whilst they display their emoticons to you. Be it hungry, sad or happy, you can see it all through their eyes! It's supes adorable and when I am feeling stress, a little playtime with him makes it all go away...

So, here comes the digital part. As you play with and care for your FURBY BOOM, they will earn colourful virtual eggs (in the FURBY BOOM app), which in time will each hatch and becoe a FURBY babe called FURBLING. It will live and evolve in the app, pretty much like a Tamagotchi, you hvae to feed, play and interact with them.

There will be over 50 eggs to collect and you can eventually build a FURBY BOOM city. Eggs can be earned through game play, exchanging with other players and there will be surprises in the later year with the utilization of QR codes.

Pre-Orders Available at Toys'R'Us

From 20 August 2013, FURBY BOOM will be available and public pre-orders will begin from 2 to 19 August 2013 at all Toys'R'Us outlets.

Pre-order customers will receive a goodie bag worth SGD$46.70, consisting of FURBY Backpack, FURBY 2014 Organiser & a Colour Marker Set.

To celebrate the launch of FURBY BOOM, head on over to Toys'R'Us Vivocity from 20 to 25 August 2013. There will be photo-taking opportunities and more!

FURBY BOOM is priced at SGD$119.90. Visit furby.com for more FURBY Fun!
