Singapore History Gallery Reopens with Stoney: 700 Years of History, Nostalgia & New Experiences!

Hi Huneybees,

When was the last time you visited the National Museum of Singapore? Well, here's a good reason to make another trip! After its first full revamp, the museum's flagship Singapore History Gallery is officially reopening on 10 October 2026, just in time for the museum's 139th anniversary celebrations.

And this isn't simply a history lesson filled with old photographs and artefacts. With seven immersive zones, never-before-seen historical treasures and interactive multimedia experiences, the revamped gallery takes us on a journey through more than 700 years of Singapore's history, from our early maritime beginnings to the bustling city we call home today.

From Zubir Said’s piano to the Great Singapore Workout and our favourite nightlife memories, the revamped Singapore History Gallery brings Singapore’s past to life through the stories of the people who shaped our nation, including everyday Singaporeans like you and me! And the best part? We even get to share our own reflections and imagine what Singapore’s future could look like, because our stories are part of its history too!

Seven Zones, 700 Years and Plenty of Stories to Discover

The Singapore History Gallery continues the journey that begins at Singapore Odyssea: A Journey Through Time in the Shaw Foundation Glass Rotunda. From there, visitors can explore seven chronological zones, each revealing a different chapter of our nation's story.

Fluid Beginnings (1300s–1800s) takes us back to Singapore's early maritime history, when our island was already connected to a bustling regional trading network. Look out for treasures recovered from a 14th-century shipwreck, a newly commissioned jongkong boat model and, of course, the mysterious Singapore Stone!

Moving into Colonial City (1800s–1930s), discover how Singapore developed into a thriving port city as merchants, migrants and labourers arrived from across Asia. There is even an interactive experience where you can try lifting and pulling a recreated rickshaw. Time to find out just how tough life was for our forefathers!

The mood takes a more sombre turn in Fall of the Fortress (Late 1930s–1940s), which explores the Japanese Occupation and the experiences of those who lived through the war. Through personal belongings, historical photographs and interactive installations, we get a glimpse of the struggles, sacrifices and resilience of that generation.

One artefact I'm particularly excited about is in Towards a New Identity (1950s–1960s). For the first time, visitors can see the actual piano on which Zubir Said composed our national anthem, Majulah Singapura! The gallery also recreates Lee Kuan Yew's televised press conference announcing Singapore's separation from Malaysia, offering an opportunity to reflect on this defining moment in our history.

Next, Becoming Singapore (1960s–1980s) brings us into the era of rapid industrialisation, public housing and changing lifestyles. From factory workers' everyday belongings to a restored HDB lift and a recreated void deck, this section shows how Singaporeans adapted to a rapidly transforming nation.

OMG, Are Our Childhood Memories Museum-Worthy Already?!

Now, this is where things get especially nostalgic!

Being Singaporean (1980s–1990s) celebrates the food, fashion, films, sports and nightlife that shaped our growing national identity. Walk through an Orchard Road-inspired passageway, explore Singapore's hawker culture through an interactive Hawker Table and relive some iconic moments from our younger days.

Remember the Great Singapore Workout? There is even a station featuring archival footage where you can join in!

It's funny how the things we grew up with have now become part of Singapore's history. Suddenly, we're not just visiting a museum. We're seeing bits and pieces of our own lives on display!

Finally, Looking Global (2000s–Present) brings us back to modern Singapore. Catch photographer Keith Loutit's spectacular timelapse, The Lion City 2012–2026, which compresses nearly 15 years of Singapore's transformation into just two and a half minutes.

The gallery also explores Singapore's global connections, technological achievements and the changing meaning of belonging in a city that never stops evolving.

Your Voice Becomes Part of Singapore's Story

One of the most meaningful additions to the revamped gallery is its new voice input stations.

As we travel through the different zones, we're invited to share our thoughts and personal reflections on the stories presented. These contributions come together in a cinematic finale, where visitors' voices help create a collective vision of Singapore's future.

Imagine seeing a skyline of tomorrow shaped by the hopes, beliefs and aspirations of everyday Singaporeans! It's a lovely reminder that history isn't just something we read about. We're all part of Singapore's ongoing story, and the decisions we make today will shape what future generations remember.

Meet Stoney, the National Museum's Adorable New Mascot!

Of course, a major reopening calls for a new friend, and the National Museum has a rather charming one waiting for us!

Meet Stoney, the museum's new mascot inspired by the Singapore Stone.

His story begins when he awakens along the Singapore River without any memory of where he came from. Determined to find his true kin, he sets off on an adventure around modern Singapore before finally finding his way home to the National Museum.

How cute is that?!

During the reopening celebrations, visitors can look forward to meet-and-greets with Stoney and snap photographs with his larger-than-life installation on the museum's lawn. And if you love collecting cute souvenirs, there's even a Stoney keychain plush available at Museum Martket by Abry for $13.90 from 10 October onwards.

Celebrate the Museum's 139th Anniversary with Stories of Everyday

The reopening also kicks off Stories of Everyday, the National Museum's 139th anniversary celebrations, happening from 10 to 18 October 2026.

Beyond exploring the revamped gallery, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities inspired by the everyday experiences of Singaporeans across generations.

Browse ceramics, stationery, accessories and food at The Living Archive: A Living & Design Market by Of Wonder Wander, or step into The National Living Room, an interactive installation featuring nostalgic household objects and personal stories that transform a house into a home.

There will also be performances, heritage talks, roving historical characters and community music jamming, along with contemporary dance performance Searching Blue《寻蓝》 by T.H.E Dance Company.

With so much happening, the anniversary celebrations make a great excuse to plan a museum date or spend a nostalgic afternoon with family and friends.

A New Chapter for the National Museum of Singapore

The Singapore History Gallery's reopening also marks the completion of the National Museum's three-year restoration works. But there's still more to look forward to!

The Level 2 Life in Singapore Galleries are scheduled to reopen in early 2027, in time for the museum's 140th anniversary.

What I love about the revamped Singapore History Gallery is how it reminds us that our nation's identity isn't shaped only by major historical events or famous figures. It's also found in our everyday experiences, the places we grew up in, the food we share and the memories we create together.

As Singapore continues to evolve, so do our stories. Whether you're revisiting familiar childhood memories or discovering something new about our history, there's a little piece of Singapore waiting for everyone here.

So, Huneybees, come take a journey through time, share your reflections and discover how we're all part of Singapore's ever-evolving story. And don't forget to say hi to Stoney!

Bloomyard Singapore: Step Into a Larger-Than-Life Floral Playground at IMBA Theatre

Hi Huneybees,

IMBA Theatre has done it again, opening something completely different this September and transforming its space at Gardens by the Bay into a larger-than-life floral playground: Bloomyard, created in collaboration with British creative duo Graphic Rewilding.

Oversized blooms, swings surrounded by flowers, garden mini golf and even flower-shaped table tennis tables. Basically, this is one garden where you're actually encouraged to play.

Yes, children are probably going to have a blast here, but for the grown-ups? Consider this your permission to play again.

Catherine Borowski and Lee Baker, artists behind Graphic Rewilding, with their artwork Flower Clouds in London.

Stepping Into Graphic Rewilding's Larger-Than-Life Garden

Behind all those giant flowers are artists Catherine Borowski and Lee Baker, the UK-based duo behind Graphic Rewilding.

Their work takes inspiration from the natural world, beginning with observations and hand-drawn imagery of flowers, plants and tiny details before magnifying them into bold, colourful environments. They describe their approach as “microscopic maximalism”, which feels pretty fitting once you see how something as delicate as a flower can suddenly dominate an entire space.

For Bloomyard, that artistic language has been transformed into an immersive playground. Instead of simply looking at the botanical artwork around you, you're invited to walk through it, sit amongst it and, most importantly, play inside it.

It's Art You Don't Have to Admire From a Distance

What makes Bloomyard interesting to me is that it blurs that line between an exhibition and a playground.

Graphic Rewilding's botanical imagery is still very much the visual star of the experience, but instead of creating an environment where visitors simply photograph the artwork and move along, the installations become part of what you're doing.

You swing amongst the flowers.
You play amongst them.
You wander through them.

That makes Bloomyard feel less like visiting a conventional gallery and more like briefly stepping into someone else's colourful imagination.

And perhaps that's also a reminder that experiencing art doesn't always have to be serious, sometimes you're allowed to just have fun with it.

Swing, Putt and Rally Among the Flowers

Once you've walked through the floral arch, there are several activities scattered throughout Bloomyard.

You can hop onto the flower swings, bounce upon the beautiful blooms on the trampoline, challenge someone to a game at the flower-shaped table tennis tables, or test your putting skills around the garden mini-golf course, complete with slopes, twists and curves.

Of course, it makes ahn amazing family activity spot but I think it could also make a rather cute date idea in Singapore too ~

When was the last time you challenged your partner or friends to mini golf surrounded by giant flowers?
Kids don't need permission to play.
Adults sometimes need reminding that we're still allowed to.

Take a Breather at The Bloomery

After all that swinging, putting and rallying, there's The Bloomery café within the experience where you can stop for a drink, with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and matcha on the menu.

You can also browse Bloomyard merchandise featuring Graphic Rewilding's botanical designs, including stickers, prints and T-shirts.

If you're looking to brighten up your home with some colourful florals, the prints are definitely worth checking out. They're Singapore exclusives, making them a rather special piece of Bloomyard to bring home.

A Little Tip Before You Visit

Here's something worth keeping in mind if you're planning your visit: the different play stations have limited capacity.

There are six golf clubs, six swings, five table tennis tables and only a handful of trampolines, so you may have to wait your turn when Bloomyard gets busy.

If you have some flexibility, I'd consider visiting on a weekday or during an off-peak period, when you may have more time to enjoy the activities without feeling rushed.

Museum of Ice Cream Singapore Turns 5 With FREE Tickets for Past Visitors!

Hi Huneybees,

Wait! It's five years already?! 🍦💗

It feels like just yesterday that Museum of Ice Cream Singapore opened its super sweet pink doors at Dempsey, but MOIC is officially turning five this August!

And instead of keeping all the birthday presents for itself, MOIC is giving one back to some of the people who helped make those five years possible - past visitors.

If you visited Museum of Ice Cream Singapore between 1 August 2021 and 30 June 2026, you may be eligible to return with a complimentary General Admission ticket. Plus, there’s going to be a one-day birthday bash on 29 August 2026, complete with even more nostalgic birthday-party fun.

So yes! if you’ve been thinking about diving back into that famous Sprinkle Pool, this might be your excuse.

Museum of Ice Cream Singapore Is Turning 5!

Since opening in Singapore in 2021, MOIC has welcomed more than half a million guests through its pink doors.

Along the way, it has also picked up accolades including Klook’s Best in Experience Award 2023 and TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Award, while welcoming famous faces including JJ Lin, Hannah Quinlivan, Drew Barrymore and Sandara Park.

But beyond the celebrity visits and awards, I think part of MOIC's charm has always been how unapologetically playful the whole place is. Where else can adults happily jump into a pool filled with sprinkles, pose in rooms drenched in pink and eat ice cream along the way without anyone questioning our life choices? 😂

And for its fifth birthday, MOIC is bringing some of that childhood birthday-party nostalgia back!

Visited MOIC Before? You Could Return for FREE

Here’s probably the sweetest part of the anniversary celebration.

Guests who visited Museum of Ice Cream Singapore between 1 August 2021 and 30 June 2026, and purchased their tickets through MOIC Singapore's official ticketing website, can redeem one complimentary General Admission ticket per verified booking email.

To redeem the complimentary ticket, eligible past visitors will need to submit the email address used for their original booking through MOIC's redemption form.

Once your booking has been verified, you’ll receive a unique promotional code via email which can then be used to book your complimentary visit.

A few important dates to take note of:

 • Redemption/booking deadline: 27 August 2026
 • Complimentary ticket validity: Until 30 September 2026
 • Eligibility period: Visits made between 1 August 2021 and 30 June 2026

Do note that each eligible booking email is entitled to only one complimentary ticket, regardless of how many tickets were originally purchased under that booking.

Submitting the redemption form also does not automatically guarantee a free ticket, as all submissions are subject to verification.

Still have that old MOIC booking sitting somewhere in your inbox? Time to dig it out!

MOIC's 5th Birthday Bash Happens on 29 August

Want to join the actual birthday celebrations?

On Saturday, 29 August 2026, MOIC's Dempsey home will be turning into an all-day birthday party from 10am to 6pm. And they’re leaning right into those nostalgic birthday-party vibes we grew up with.

Visitors can look forward to complimentary activities including:

 • Face painting
 • Glitter tattoos
 • A roaming balloon sculptor
 • Unlimited ice cream treats with up to 19 flavours throughout the museum

There will also be a complimentary live storytelling session by a local children's author from 4pm to 5pm in MOIC's private events room.

Slots for the storytelling session are limited, so do take note if you're planning to bring the little ones along.

Although... who says the grown-ups can't get a glitter tattoo too? Five-year-old me would approve. 💖

Share Your MOIC Memories and You Could Win a Birthday Party

MOIC is also inviting visitors to look back at their favourite memories from the past five years with its #MOICTURNS5 social campaign.

From 17 to 28 August 2026, share your MOIC memories on Instagram, follow and tag @museumoficecreamsg, and include the official anniversary hashtag for a chance to be one of five winners.

Prizes include a complimentary birthday party package for up to 15 guests or 10 VIP tickets, with prizes worth up to $900 each.

Now THAT sounds like a birthday present!

Ready for Another Scoop?

This anniversary is definitely a pretty cute reason to go back and see whether the Sprinkle Pool is just as fun as you remember it.

And if you've somehow never stepped through those famous pink doors? The fifth birthday celebrations might just be the perfect time to finally see what all that pink, ice cream and sprinkle-filled madness is about.

Happy 5th birthday, Museum of Ice Cream Singapore! 🍦🎂💗

Museum of Ice Cream Singapore 5th Anniversary

Therme Singapore: 20 Pools, 18 Water Slides and a Tropical Wellness Escape Coming to Marina South

Hi Huneybees,

Would you spend an entire day at a destination designed around wellness, relaxation and play?

That is exactly what Therme Singapore is setting out to become.

Ground was officially broken this week for Therme Singapore, a massive new integrated wellbeing destination that will open at Marina South in 2030. Spanning more than 720,000 square feet across seven levels, it promises to bring together water attractions, wellness experiences, lush tropical landscapes and family-friendly entertainment under one roof.

As someone who constantly finds myself bouncing between events, deadlines and content creation, the idea of a place where you can spend a day slowing down, recharging and simply feeling good sounds pretty appealing.

(Video Credit: Therme Singapore)

A New Kind of Destination for Singapore

Developed by Therme Group, Therme Singapore will be the company's first destination in Asia and its largest wellness project in the region.

Visitors can expect:

 • More than 20 indoor and outdoor pools and water attractions
 • Over 70 wellness treatment rooms
 • More than 86,000 square feet of dining and social spaces
 • Expansive indoor and outdoor tropical gardens
 • Waterfront views overlooking Marina South

Rather than being just another attraction or water park, Therme Singapore is designed as an all-in-one wellbeing destination where leisure, nature and wellness intersect with one simple goal - create a space that appeals to everyone, from families with young children to working adults looking to unwind and seniors seeking restorative wellness experiences.

Three Distinct Experiences Under One Roof

The destination is organised into three distinctive zones, each catering to a different mood and experience.

Play

Families and thrill-seekers will likely gravitate towards the Play zone. This area will feature children's pools, interactive play spaces and an impressive collection of 18 water slides stretching over 1.8 kilometres in total length.

This is the part of Therme Singapore where energy takes centre stage, encouraging movement, exploration and shared family experiences.

Relax

For those who prefer a slower pace, the Relax zone sounds like the place to be. Visitors can look forward to thermal pools, mineral baths, hydromassage beds, infrared therapy and tranquil water environments designed to help melt away stress.

After a hectic week, this is probably where you'll find me.

Restore

The Restore zone focuses on deeper wellness and recovery.

Expect saunas, steam rooms and dedicated treatment spaces designed to support both physical and mental rejuvenation. It's an approach that feels increasingly relevant today as more people prioritise wellness as part of everyday life rather than an occasional luxury.

A Tropical Oasis in the Heart of the City

Beyond the pools and wellness facilities, nature will play a major role in shaping the visitor experience. The grounds will feature more than 200,000 plants representing over 200 species incorporated throughout the development, including orchids and native Southeast Asian varieties.

The result is intended to feel less like a conventional building and more like an immersive tropical environment woven into Singapore's urban landscape and what's particularly exciting is that the project extends beyond its walls.

A new coastal public park spanning nearly four hectares will connect Therme Singapore with Marina Barrage, creating an additional green spaces and improving public access to the waterfront. For a city that already does urban greenery exceptionally well, this feels like another meaningful addition to Singapore's growing network of recreational spaces!

From Left to Right: Mr Robert Hanea, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Therme Group, Mr Mah Bow Tan, Chairman of Therme Group Asia and Therme Singapore, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu and Mr Tan Boon Khai, Chief Executive Officer of Therme Singapore.

Technology Meets Wellness

Therme Singapore is also embracing technology to streamline the visitor experience.

Some of the planned features include:

 • Waterproof RFID wristbands for access and cashless payments
 • Robotic locker systems
 • Advanced ozone-based water filtration technology
 • Smart irrigation systems
 • Solar photovoltaic panels
 • Energy-efficient building systems

It's really encouraging to see sustainability and operational efficiency being integrated from the ground up rather than added as an afterthought.

More Than Just a Tourist Attraction

Beyond the visitor experience, Therme Singapore is expected to create around 400 jobs across construction, engineering, hospitality, operations and facilities management.

Interestingly, the destination will also introduce specialised wellness roles such as sauna masters, also known as Aufgussmeisters, a profession that remains relatively uncommon in Singapore today.

To support future workforce development, Therme Singapore has already established partnerships with the Institute of Technical Education and Republic Polytechnic, focusing on internships, innovation projects and industry-relevant skills training.

Looking forward...

Singapore is no stranger to ambitious attractions, but Therme Singapore definitely feels different.

Instead of focusing purely on entertainment, it combines recreation, wellness, nature and social experiences into one destination. It reflects a growing shift in how people think about wellbeing, not just as spa treatments or fitness classes, but as something that can be integrated into everyday life.

Of course, 2030 might feel a long way off, and there are plenty of details yet to be revealed. But judging from the scale of what's planned, Therme Singapore could become one of Marina South's most anticipated new attractions.

The thought of spending a day alternating between water slides, thermal pools, tropical gardens and good food while overlooking the waterfront definitely sounds like a pretty great way to recharge. I'll be keeping an eye on this one as more details emerge over the next few years and stay tuned as I share them here!

Therme Singapore to Transform Marina South into a World-Class Wellbeing Hub

Hi Huneybees,

Singapore never stops reinventing itself, and honestly… that’s one of the things I love most about living here. Just when you think you’ve explored every corner of the island, something new pops up that makes you go, “Ooh, that’s going straight onto my must-visit list!”

The latest? Therme Singapore - a massive S$1 billion next-generation wellbeing destination that’s about to transform the Marina South coastal area into an urban oasis. And this is not “just another spa.”

Wellness, Culture & Sustainability - A Holistic Escape for Everyone

Therme Group, one of the world’s leaders in next-generation wellbeing destinations, has officially won the Singapore Tourism Board’s tender to build Asia’s very first Therme that's right by Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay (already one of my favourite date-night spots!). From the early concept descriptions, this state-of-the-art space looks like a luxurious fusion of lush botanical landscapes, warm thermal pools, world-class art installations, and cutting-edge health tech, all wrapped in biophilic, sustainable architecture. Designed in collaboration with DP Architects and Therme’s in-house team, the vision is undeniably stunning and future-forward.

But what really stands out to me is how this destination goes beyond pampering. Therme wants to create a welcoming space that brings people together by promoting community wellness, social connection, and holistic health for visitors of all ages. Whether you’re planning a family outing, a quiet solo recharge, or a cosy couple’s wellness date, this 4-hectare urban oasis aims to offer something for every mood. With an expected 2 million annual visitors at full capacity (half coming from overseas), it’s clear Singapore is embracing its role as a global wellness hub.

And the best part? Therme Singapore is designed to be a wellness destination that gives back to the environment rather than taking from it. Expect high-efficiency water recycling, sustainable energy solutions, and seamless integration with coastal park greenery and waterfront spaces - creating a genuine green-and-blue sanctuary that puts sustainability at its core.

The Future of Urban Wellness

STB’s goal is clear - they want Singapore to be recognised as an urban wellness haven, and Therme Singapore feels like a big step in that direction. The focus isn’t just on physical wellbeing but also on mental and emotional wellness. And honestly, after the hectic pace of the last few years, I think many of us are craving exactly this kind of restorative space.

As someone who has been covering lifestyle, tech, and wellness experiences around Singapore, this announcement couldn’t be more aligned with everything we’re passionate about here at Huney’Z World. I’m already imagining late-night thermal soaks, walking through tropical gardens, and taking artsy IG shots with incredible installations.

And yes! This sounds like a perfect future couple’s escape spot for those looking for a romantic yet wellness-driven date idea. 😉 I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on construction updates and launch timelines, so stay tuned for more!

A Celebration of Art & Heritage at Starbucks 37 Smith Street (Chinatown) – Where Culture Meets Community

Hi Huneybees~

You all know I’m a sucker for all things Starbucks; it’s not just the coffee, it’s the whole experience. From the branding to the vibes, and especially the way certain outlets blend into the local culture so seamlessly. I still daydream about visiting the Nineizaka Yasaka Chaya store in Kyoto and that gorgeous one along QianMen Main Street in Beijing. So imagine my excitement levels exploding when I found out we’re getting our very own cultural concept store here in Singapore!

✨ Welcome to the Starbucks Heritage Shophouse at 37 Smith Street, right in the heart of Chinatown comes Singapore’s first-ever heritage shophouse Starbucks outlet that pays a stunning tribute to Singapore’s rich cultural tapestry, artfully restored and reimagined for the community.

Step Inside: Where Modern Café Meets Cultural Gem

Set within a conserved two-storey heritage shophouse, this two-storey beauty blends right into the row of heritage-rich buildings along Smith Street, and I couldn’t resist making a trip down with the hubby to soak in the vibes. We spent a lovely afternoon people-watching, sipping coffee, and discovering all the thoughtful little design touches that make this outlet so special.

Right from the entrance, you’re greeted with a beautiful nod to tradition: a signboard adorned with “星巴克” (Starbucks in Chinese characters), lovingly crafted by local artisans from Yong Gallery. This piece is more than signage; it’s a collaboration between Calligraphy Master Yong Cheong Thye and Wood Carving Master Cheh Kai Ho, created using time-honored woodcraft and calligraphy techniques. Even the entrance pillars are detailed with traditional plaster moulding, capturing the spirit of the past in subtle, elegant ways that feel authentically Chinatown. The whole place just oozes classic Chinatown feels.

The moment you step in, you’re greeted by that heavenly aroma of fresh coffee and a bright, spacious interior that’s both cozy and elegant. Think rich wooden textures, warm lighting, curved seating, and beautiful latticework that pays homage to the past. It’s stylish, serene, and definitely somewhere you could stay for hours.

One of the most magical moments for me was spotting the preserved original wooden ceiling beams and staircase. Instead of replacing them, they’ve been lovingly restored; the worn textures of the steps whispering stories of decades gone by. I used to work just down the road on Mosque Street, and climbing those familiar wooden stairs brought back memories I didn’t even know I still carried. Major points for keeping the heritage vibe alive!

Art That Tells Our Story

The building isn’t just a place to sip coffee – it’s a gallery in its own right.

Outside, a large, vibrant mural by Singaporean illustrator Tiffany Lovage wraps around the shophouse wall. It features a bullock cart transporting coffee cherries, a poignant tribute to Chinatown’s roots as “牛车水” (“Ox Cart Water”), back when bullock carts were used to carry water into the area. It’s a beautiful way of connecting the neighborhood’s name to its historical function, reminding us how everyday necessities shaped the identity of a place.

Meanwhile, Lovage's murals breathe life and personality into every corner. Her pieces fuse contemporary charm with classic Chinese elements – gold koi, swirling motifs, and even the Starbucks Siren – creating a dreamlike narrative that feels both rooted and refreshing.

Upstairs, you’ll find even more art celebrating Chinese culture and coffee, including a mural by Tori Shao that reimagines classical Chinese landscape aesthetics with a modern flair. Think mountain clouds, misty peaks, and delicate ink-like strokes… but with a contemporary softness.. Sitting next to it feels almost celestial, like you’re sipping coffee up in the clouds with the deities. It's an atmosphere perfect for introspection, slow conversation, or quiet creation.

A Unique Starbucks Menu – Local Flavours with a Twist

Now let’s talk about the exclusive menu items! This outlet has all your usual Starbucks favorites, but they’ve also introduced local-inspired treats you won’t find anywhere else.

My personal fave? The Black Sesame Oatmilk Coffee Frappuccino® with Soy Pudding (Grande: S$9.90). It’s basically my beloved sesame paste dessert in drink form – nutty, creamy, slightly sweet, with a caffeine kick and that silky soy pudding layer. Heaven in a cup!

I’m saving the Yuan Yang Coffee Frappuccino® (Grande: S$9.90) for my next visit; it sounds like a dreamy mix of coffee, toasted hojicha, chocolate chips, and creamy milk. Can’t wait!

For bites, they’ve teamed up with local fave Old Seng Choong to create some mouthwatering snacks. We tried the XL Chicken Char Siew Puff (S$6.00) which is has generous filling and buttery pastry, though the char siew leaned more sweet than smoky. Then there’s the Starbucks Coffee Bolo Bun with Butter (S$4.90), a soft bun topped with coffee-crusted sweetness and served with a thick slab of chilled butter. So indulgent!

Peeking into the counter display, I also spotted:
 • Java Chip Frappuccino® Swiss Roll (S$7.20): Chocolatey goodness with a coffee twist.

 • Lychee Swiss Roll (S$7.20): Light, fluffy, fruity and fresh!

 • Pandan Chiffon Cake (Sliced: S$3.90 | Whole: S$22.80): A local classic, enhanced with gula melaka for that fragrant depth.

We just missed the Starbucks® Coffee Egg Tart (S$3.90), which apparently it’s a hot item! But you know what that means… another excuse to come back! 😋

Merch That Celebrates Local Talent

Before leaving, we wandered to the back where the store opens up into a gorgeous little merch area. Earthy tones, calming vibes and so many treasures that champions local artists and heritage through design.

One standout is the collaboration with JunleFont, a unique calligraphy style created by a local artist on the autism spectrum. Diagnosed at age three, he expresses himself through daily writing practice, transcribing “The Heart Sutra.” This deeply personal journey led to the development of a signature font, which now appears on Starbucks mugs, tumblers, and bags with sweet affirmations like “Have a latte and chase those troubles away.”

It’s not just beautiful, it’s meaningful. A quiet reminder that art can be a language of its own, even when words fall short.

There’s also the whimsical WHENIWASFOUR x Starbucks® collection, bringing nostalgic Singaporean elements to life through playful, everyday objects. Think metal cups that bring back memories of grandma’s kitchen, playful tumblers, and bags with quirky local illustrations that just make you smile. Their designs, inspired by childhood and tradition, feel like little love letters to simpler times.

And yes, the life-sized Merlion Bearista plushie in the corner is just too cute to handle. Standing proud with its own mini Starbucks cup, it’s perfect for photo ops, and you can take home the mini keychain version (and also the limited edition ones in Lion Dance suit) too! Perfect for adding some charm to your tote or backpack.

A Space for the Community

This isn’t just another Starbucks. It’s a space that respects and reflects the cultural heartbeat of its surroundings. By fusing art, heritage, and contemporary design, the outlet becomes a microcosm of Singapore itself – diverse, expressive, and ever-evolving.

Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a heritage lover, or just someone looking to reconnect with the soul of Chinatown in a fresh way, I highly recommend paying a visit. Come not just for the coffee, but for the stories that live in the walls, the strokes of each mural, and the quiet moments of reflection waiting to be found upstairs. I already can’t wait to go back. Maybe I’ll see you there?

Till then, stay caffeinated & keep exploring~ 💚✨
