Do You Have #RoadSense?

Hi Huneybees,

As the country develops and move forward, I see more and more cars on the road. But riding as a passenger in my hubby's car has started to get scary as drivers start to get a little too aggressive with stress building up and seems like technology has slowly crept in and get in the way of drivers.

That is also why Singapore's Traffic Police held a multi-disciplinary dialogue session recently as part of their Use Your RoadSense movement. Part of the larger Safer Roads Singapore action plan, the Use Your RoadSense movement looks to spark self-reflection among all road users, raise empathy and respect for each other on the roads, in turn leading to the development of a new road culture, eventually reducing road accidents when our roads are safer and better for all.

This movement is a fresh approach to educate and engage users on road safety in Singapore, to facilitate understanding between the diverse road user groups – pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. Also sparking this active engagement and co-creation approach to crafting road safety initiatives between the Traffic Police and the public.

Through this movement, Traffic Police hopes to hold many conversations with the various road user groups to understand their road safety concerns and hear their ideas on how a culture of safer road use can be cultivated in Singapore.

The first of these many conversations was the dialogue session held on 7th April 2015 with Traffic Police gathering a panel of field experts to look at how direct and indirect factors such as road planning, road technology, socio-culture and human psychology affect road attitudes and driver traits, giving a direction to our "RoadSense".

“Traffic Police needs to take a larger, holistic view of our traffic road policing, in view of the changing road environment today. Users are now more diverse and come from different backgrounds and grew up in different times. Road and car technologies are also affecting our attitudes on the roads. We are always connected and are faced with more distractions.
We may have one of the safest road networks in the region but we can do more to cultivate good road behaviour and discipline. Road safety is not just about enforcements. We need to build a culture of self-discipline, care and empathy on our roads. We hope this movement provides the foundation for it. As we adopt a multi-perspective approach to road safety, we call upon all individuals, organisations and companies to work together on this shared initiative to develop a new road culture for Singapore."
--- Assistant Commissioner Sam Tee, Commander Traffic Police.

If you have interest to learn more about the movement and what the RoadSense is all about, go ahead to take part in the conversation online, at the Use Your RoadSense Facebook page. Share what having, or not having #RoadSense is, and support the movement by getting others around you involved. Visit www.facebook.com/roadsense.sg for more details.

Let's be observe more road safety and roadsense!
Let Singapore be a great place to drive in!
Drive safely! :)

Juventus Thrash Singapore Selection With A 5-0 Score!

Hi Huneybees,

I was invited by Sports Hub Premier Founding Partner OCBC to catch the first football match in the new National Stadium – Juventus vs Singapore Selection - at the one of National Stadium Club’s 61 Executive Suites that boasts panoramic views of the National Stadium.

Singapore is the final leg of the two weeks #JUVETOUR in Indonesia, Australia and Singapore and the Bianconeri didn’t disappoint by scoring 5-0 against the Singapore Selection in front of approximate 27,000 supporting fans.

Andrea Pirlo was definitely the most recognizable and idolized Bianconeri in this match from the reaction of the crowd cheering him on whenever he took a corner kick or free kick. Pirlo returned the favor back to his fans by scoring the first two goals of the game; both goals from stationary position of a free kick on the 17th minutes and a spot kick three minutes before the half time whistle (with 1 minute of injury time included).

Gianluigi Buffon, the other crowd favorite, on the other hand had a day off on the pitch as he was not tested throughout his appearance apart from a catch when a low ball, by Singapore Selection, flew past the Juve goal post inside the penalty box.

Although both star players were substituted after the first half break, the game actually came into life as the pace of the game increased, helped by three brilliantly-executed goals by Pogba on the 48th minutes, Giovinco on the 55th minutes and Asamoah on the 71st minute. My favorite was the goal scored by Pogba as he beat not one but three players before shooting the ball into the net from inside the box!

The fundamental problem with the Singapore Selection was the lack a visionary player like Pirlo who could make the ball connection with the rest of his team from midfield. The Singapore Selection whenever in possession of the ball always kept making the same mistake of passing the ball through a group of Juventus players waiting in the center of the field. In my opinion, if Singapore Selection would have concentrated on long ball on both flanks, the result might be different!

Non-existence man-marking and poor clearance of ball inside the penalty box by Singapore Selection were also two key issues that Bernd Stange, the national team coach of Singapore, needed to work on if Singapore wanted to perform well in the coming AFF Suzuki Cup at the end of this year.

Overall the game would have been better if not for the horrendous condition of the football pitch and missing Carlos Tevez in action. Nevertheless, all these shortfalls have somewhat been compensated by the great hospitality of OCBC. Thank you OCBC!

Before I pen off, please catch the video of all 5 goals scored against Singapore Selection:

Enjoy Restaurant Dishes At The Comfort Of Your Home With foodpanda

Hi Huneybees,

Ever since I got married, I have been cooking dinner when ever I can. Sometimes, hubby will cook his specialty, but most of the times, we get tired and bored of the same stuffs, or can't come up with new dishes. It gets pretty frustrating and lucky I was introduced to foodpanda, now I can have restaurant food delivered straight to my doorstep!

It's even much easier to order now! With their 2nd anniversary, foodpanda announced the launch of their mobile app that is downloadable across all platforms - App Store, Google Play and even Windows! Now, I can simply order my food whilst on the way home and piping hot dinner will be waiting for me once I get home! AWESOME!

They have a wide range of cuisines from Western to Chinese to Japanese and you are definitely spoilt for choices, especially when you don't live so near to the restaurants!

foodpanda has also changed a new look, more matured looking, more universal, though I still preferred the previous one. But then again, coz I was an animator, all things cartoony still appeal to me more. Hehehehe...

foodpanda, together with its affiliated brand hellofood, is the leading global online food delivery marketplace, active in over 40 countries. The company enables restaurants to become visible in the online and mobile world and provides them with a constantly evolving online technology. For consumers, foodpanda offers the convenience to order food online and the widest gastronomic range from where they can choose their favorite meal on the web or via the app.

Over a luncheon, at Tony Roma's, Mr. Chinmay Malaviya (Managing Director of foodpanda Singapore) shared with us their latest partnerships as well. After a successful partnership with Old Chang Kee, they now have Yoshinoya onboard.

Yoshinoya is the oldest and biggest Beef Bowl restaurant chain from Japan. Founded by Mr Eikichi Matsuda and named after his hometown in Yoshino-Cho, Osaka, Yoshinoya has over 1,200 outlets around the world. Over the years, Yoshinoya has rapidly expanded around the world, to various countries including Japan, USA, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Singapore. Yoshinoya Singapore was started in 1997 and has since grown from the first flagship outlet at Ngee Ann City to over 20 outlets island-wide, including 3 in food courts. I'm their ardent fan when it comes to beef bowl rice, with additional tofu and the chilli flakes... I"M HUNGRY ALREADY!

And during this World Cup season, foodpanda has partnered with the Telok Ayer Hong Lim Green Community Centre to broadcast the month-long tournament at Hong Lim Park, promoting racial harmony and social cohesion in Singapore. You can bring your friends along and enjoy ‘live’ at least 50 of the 64 soccer matches on big screens, including the opening match on 13th June and grand finals on 14th July from 12 am to 6 am.

Throughout the period of the live World Cup tournament screenings, foodpanda will also be gifting $10 discount vouchers to all first-time users which would allow audiences to order an array of late night delights to accompany them through all their important soccer matches. foodpanda has partnered restaurants such as Napolizz and Pastamania to extend the food delivery operating hours beyond midnight this June and July to whet up football spectators’ appetites as they root for their favourite soccer teams either at Hong Lim Park or at the comfort of  your own couches!

No Sweat. Take A Guess & Eat For Free!
To zing up the World Cup fever, foodpanda will also be launching a Facebook campaign during the World Cup season where users are encouraged to predict which national team will successfully progress across the map of Brazil’s 12 host cities and be crowned the ultimate champion at the final stage at Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro. foodpanda users can simply submit their entries on who they think will lift the most coveted FIFA World Cup Trophy this year from 13th June to 14th July, tag a friend and share their predictions on their own Facebook walls and stand a chance to win one week’s worth of foodpanda delivery!

Spend SGD30 & Win Coveted Gadgets
Simultaneously, foodpanda brings more incredible prizes with a global lucky draw which will be running in all the countries that foodpanda operates in. foodpanda users all over the world can just be the lucky winners to walk away with the grand prize of a Samsung 55-inch Smart 3D television or other attractive prizes likes Playstation 4, Xbox, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, iPad 16GB Mini, iPad 16GB Nano, The Brazuca official 2014 World Cup soccer ball, free one month foodpanda delivery, and more! foodpanda users are eligible to enter the global draw with aminimum spending of SGD 30 and above and winners will be announced via foodpanda’s Facebook on 16th July.
