Lo Hei With SwissĂ´tel Merchant Court This Lunar New Year

It's mid-January and very fast it's time for the festive Lunar New Year celebrations. If you are looking for somewhere to have Lo Hei gathering with your family and friends or even company colleagues to usher in good luck for the Year of the Dog, why not do it at SwissĂ´tel Merchant Court?


From 5 February - 2 March 2018, Ellenborough Market CafĂ© is bringing us delectable Prosperity Set Menus for a table of 10. There's a great variety of delicious auspicious dishes such as Double-boiled Fish Maw with Dried Scallop and Cordycep Flower, Imperial Herbal Chicken, Wok-Fried Asparagus with Pearl Scallop in XO Sauce, etc.


You can choose to have either Menu A (Priced at S$788++ per table of 10) or Menu B (Priced at S$988.00++ per table of 10).

Menu A
- Salmon Yu Sheng

Both menus start off with Salmon Yu Sheng Lo Hei and what's special is that the restaurant has the ingredients decoratively placed them into dog designs to celebrate the Year of the Dog. The designs are created by the chefs and each table will get different designs, they are all so adorable, I really can't bear to mess it up though...

There were a few dishes that left an impression on me and I think it's a flavor that you can't find in other restaurants. As the ingredients are all super fresh, the foodie in me couldn't stop digging into these dishes since they remind me a lot of the dishes mum cooks every Lunar New Year.








If you have a smaller group and wanna try something different for Lunar New Year, there's also the Prosperity Buffet where you can enjoy some traditional Lunar New Year dishes alongside the Ellenborough Market CafĂ©'s popular Peranakan Cuisine.

PROSPERITY BUFFET 
Lunch: $68++ per adult, $34++ per child
Dinner: $80++ per adult, $40++ per child
The above prices include a platter of Yu Sheng per table.
Roast Duck and Roast Pork Belly are available for dinner only at the Roast Station.
You can top up $28++ and enjoy an additional serving of sliced abalone with your Yu Sheng
Their Buffet also offers delicious tender Chicken, Char Siew, Duck and Pork Belly from our Roast Station and culinary treasures such as Hong Kong Style Steamed Garoupa, Stir-fried Asparagus with Scallop in XO Sauce and Stewed Dried Oyster with Black Moss in Tianjin Cabbage. There is also Peranakan cuisine such as Ayam Buah Keluak, Wok-Fried Slipper Lobster in Black Bean Sauce. Not forgetting my all-time favourite, Durian Pengat. There are also festive goodies, from delectable Pineapple Tarts to sweet treats such as Love Letters, Kueh Bangkit, Kueh Bahulu and Mandarin Orange Pound Cake.

The Authentic Penang Flavours At Princess Terrace Had Me Going Back For Seconds

For many Singaporeans who have travelled up north to Penang before, what brings back is the fond and unforgettable taste of Penang food. Without having to travel 10 hours by coach or 1 hour by flight, you can now taste the authentic Penang flavour at the Copthorne King's Hotel's Princess Terrace Cafe's Penang Buffet.



Started since the early 1970s, restaurant has won several awards and accolades including being listed as one of Singapore’s Top Restaurants in Wine and Dine and Singapore Tatler’s dining guides for almost a decade and voted as Top 3 Best Buffet Restaurants in Asiaone People’s Choice Awards 2013, a testament to its popularity. 


The buffet affair in Singapore are mainly intercontinental dishes, where you get to taste different flavours from around the world, but hearing that there's one that's dedicated to Penang dishes, really got my taste buds high on excitement.

Popiah

Whether it is famous Penang Laksa, Inche Kabin, Pig’s Stomach Soup, Popiah, Kueh Pie Tee or  Nyonya Kueh, you can eat all of them at this Singapore's best-loved Penang BuffetIt's really hard to pick a favourite coz every dish is so mouth watering and authentic to what I had at Penang!

Wok Fried Squid With Sambal Petai
There are tons of dishes that you hardly find in Singapore, no wonder there are so many returning customers coming to dine with their friends and families.

Penang Laksa
The live dish station is my must-have seconds as there are other not just Penang Laksa, there's also the Ark Thui Mee Sua Thng (Poached Rice Vermicelli with Duck & Herbal Soup), Keow Tway Thng (Poached Flat Rice Noodles with Minced Pork, Fish Cake & Fish Ball) and Penang Hokkien Mee Thng, where spice levels and flavourings are up to your liking.


Of course there were alot of other seconds to go back to. Too Thor Thng (Pig's Stomach Soup) was specially brewed with gingko nuts, that is good for warming up your body. I definitely had more than 2 bowls of it.


Many hotels offer Satay in their buffet menu, but alot of times, they have been left out for too long and become a little too dry, but at Princess Terrace Cafe, their satay remain juicy and warm. Pair it their excellent peanut sauce that has shredded pineapples inside!

Of course, there's a ton others for you to try and the list seems to go on and on...


When it comes to desserts, the Ban Chang Kueh (peanut pancake) and soft but chewy texture of Nyonya Kueh-s are the must-try for me. The Ban Chang Kueh is freshly made before your eyes, so be sure to eat it while it's piping hot and crispy!




For those who sweet tooth like me, you have to try the Apom Bokwa with Caramelized Banana Sauce too. It's the sauce that makes this pancake dish so tasty and it beats the usual maple syrup combination. Now, if only they sold the sauce in jars too, I'll be spreading them on my toasts too!



And if that's not enough, be sure to try out the Soya Beancurd and drizzle it with gula melaka instead of the regular syrup, I bet it will be another touch of sweetness with this silky smooth dessert that's good for your skin.


Also, to keep the kids busy, there's the Ice Kachang station where there's a machine making shaved ice and you can add grass jelly, chendol jelly, red beans, sweet corn, atap seeds, rainbow syrups to your bowl of ice!

Do come on by to try and from 3 Aug to 18 Aug 2016, there will be a special Penang Seafood Feast! Prices as shown above in picture.

With child aged 5 to 10 years old enjoying 50% off adult price, it is a great place to bring the whole family together for an authentic Penang indulgence, either lunch or dinner, regardless of any occasion.  I'll definitely be bringing my friends who are visiting here from overseas for this Asian touch of delicacy.

Enjoy Delicious Italiano Fiesta at MARRIOTT Café

I always enjoyed delizioso Italian cuisine, nothing beats a good plate of spaghetti and pizza, cooked and paired with its exquisite amount of fresh ingredients! So of course I was super excited when I was invited to the Italiano Fiestas lunch/dinner buffet at Marriott CafĂ© @ Singapore Marriott Hotel!

Expect to tantalise your taste buds as Marriott Cafe serves up a variety of sublime dishes encompassing antipasti, soup, pasta, prime meats as well as divine desserts. 


Dishes are cooked to perfection by an Italian maestro -  Christian Frigo, a certified Italian Masterchef by Academia Barilla (an established international center dedicated to the development and promotion of Italian Gastronomic Culturewith). Cleverly using the best available local ingredients, Christian provides diners with the most exquisite Italian dining experience in every encounter.





Available at both Lunch and Dinner Buffet from $58++, you are definitely in for a treat as you go on a trip to Italy. Be sure to give the Maiale All’uva (Pork with Fresh Grapes) a try! It's sweet sauce paired with the tenderizing pork that melts in your mouth is definitely why I'm going back for seconds.



Of course there are also other crowd pleasers like the Gnocchi Alla Romana (Romana Style Semolina Dumplings), Spezzatino Con Piselli E Patate (Stewed Beef with Green Peas & Potato), Calamari Fritti (Deep-fried Calamari with Tartar Sauce), Abbacchio Alla Romana (Braised Lamb Shoulder), Nauake All’Fegato in Fricasse (Veal Liver Fricassee), Trippa Alla Siciliana (Sicilian Style Honey Tripe), Stuffed Pork Saddle with Prunes & Panchetta, Chef Daniele’s Lasagna, Studded Lamb Leg, Veal Osso Bucco, and more.
