Guess Who's Hosting The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards ?

The most anticipated music awards show - "MTV Video Music Awards" will be making its way back this August. Every year I'm peeled to the TV watching if my favourite singer/s or bands get awarded, who is best dressed, the best performance and start the whole tweeting process throguhout the day.

This year, it will not be different and I'm even more excited coz one of my favourite female superstar - Katy Perry will be hosting the show live from "Fabulous" Forum in Inglewood, California! I can't wait to see her performance, the clothes changes she will have through the night and also keep and eye out for her makeup looks and try to replicate it. =)

YES!!!! I'm a huge fan of this colourful, always changing and evolving singer!

In advance of the world tour for her most recent, chart-topping album, Witness, Perry will light up the stage as the first performer announced for this year’s show.  She has already secured a spot as one of the top nominees for the 2017 VMAs with nods in five categories, including: Best Pop, Best Direction and Best Visual Effects for “Chained to the Rhythm,” Best Art Direction for “Bon Appetit,” and Best Collaboration for Calvin Harris’ “Feels” featuring Pharrell Williams, Perry and Big Sean. Woohoo! Hope she wins big!

MTV has already announced the nominations for the 2017 “MTV Video Music Awards” exclusively on Instagram Live, with Kendrick Lamar scoring the most of the year with eight nominations for his video “HUMBLE”. Katy Perry and The Weeknd are tied for five nominations each.  Building on the critical acclaim of the non-gendered categories at the 2017 “MTV Movie & TV Awards,” the network also announced the former “Best Female Video” and “Best Male Video” categories have been combined for “Artist of the Year.”  Additionally, “Best Fight Against the System” has been added to celebrate videos that inspire viewers to stand up and fight injustice.  

If you want your favourites to win, you can start voting for them by visiting www.vma.mtv.com. Additionally, voting for the "Best New Artist" award, presented by Taco Bell®, will remain live through the 2017 “MTV Video Music Awards” Pre-Show airing at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT. The top two artists will be revealed during the pre-show, kicking off a live Twitter hashtag vote with the winner being announced during the live main telecast. Nominees for the socially voted category, “Best Song of Summer,” will be announced at a later date. 

So, get clicking with your votes and mark your calendar for The 2017 “MTV Video Music Awards”. It will air live on Sunday, August 27 AT 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.  

In Asia, the 2017 “MTV Video Music Awards" will premiere live on MTV Asia on Monday, August 28 at 7:00 a.m. (WIB) and 8:00 a.m. (MY/SG/PH).

Relive The Performance of Both Maroon 5 & Bon Jovi During The Singapore F1 GrandPrix 2015

The Singapore Airlines Formula One Singapore Grand Prix 2015 may have already ended more than week ago but that does not stop me from sharing with you the two after-race performances that some of my Huneybees might have missed out - Maroon 5 (Saturday) & Bon Jovi (Sunday).
Unfortunately there will not be any review on Pharrell Williams performance as my flight returning to Singapore arrived late that same evening he was scheduled to perform and hence have to forgo the ticket that I already paid for that day.

Maroon 5 performance was a total sell out based on to the size of the crowd that stayed behind after the Formula one qualifying race to watch the American pop band, in particularly Adam Levine, rock the Padang.

The crowd was granted a good live performance from Maroon 5 with mix of both new and old hits such as Payphone, Moves like Jagger, Daylight, etc. plus Adam Levine went topless to show off  his well toned but heavily tattooed upper body, towards the end of the show, received screams louder than the race itself!

Unfortunately the 1 hour performance was too short in view of the high price people paid for the Day 2 ticket, many specially to catch the band perform here. Also, the security decision to close all but 1 entrance to the concert ground - in the name of crowd control - forced many late comers to fight their way into the concert ground from the rear end of Padang, which in my opinion was an invitation for stampede.

After 20 years, Bon Jovi returned to entertain Singapore on the actual race day, but this time the New Jersey rock band performance was a pale shadow of its former self in terms of both energy and appeal.
With the departure of Richie Sambora so was half the charisma of the band live on stage, where his solo guitar play of the band's famous hits such as Wanted dead or alive and It's my life was sorely missed.

Credit to the lead singer, Jon Bon Jovi, who worked tirelessly throughout the concert to fill that void by constantly interacting with the crowd, but unfortunately due to the humid yet hazy weather coupled with his less than ideal physics didn't worked very well for him as he was caught stealing quick breaks between songs.

The lukewarm reception from the crowd during the introduction of several unfamiliar songs from the band's thirteenth studio album - Burning Bridges - summed up the band's performance for that evening.

In summary, while drama has been unfolding on the Formula One Marina Circuit race year on year, that could not be said the same on the choice of the performers for the post-race concerts.
Let's hope the race and event promoter Singapore GP Pte Ltd will do a better job next year!

Have They Really Run Out Of Ideas For Music Video?

Hi Huneybees,

What's your latest favourite song on your playlist? Sometimes, I'm fascinated more by the music video rather than the music. It's always fun to see what's the latest image of a certain artiste is, how the female singers' makeup was done and try to replicate the same look.

It's my own creative process in creating new and fresh looks, but it seems like the music videos' production crew, might have been running out of ideas. There seems to be a trend of having special celebrity friends coming in, to act in the music videos and with that, create a hype. It feels as though, they know the song is not that great and hopefully with this hype, their album can be shot right up to the top ten charts.

At first, it does seems like a fresh and playful idea to have Tom Hanks (someone you wouldn't relate to music) lip syncing to a high beat "I Really Like You" by Carly Rae Jepsen. Together with the surprise appearance by Justin Bieber towards the end of the video, it's all youthful and wonderful song to be humming to this summer.

Taylor Swift as Catastrophe, Selena Gomez as Arsyn, Karlie Kloss as Knockout, Kendrick Lamar as Welvin Da Great, Martha Hunt as HomeSlice, Jessica Alba as Domino, Serayah as Dilemma, Lena Dunham as Lucky Fiori, Hailee Steinfeld as The Trinity, Ellie Goulding as Destructa X, GiGi Hadid as Slay-Z, Hayley Williams as The Crimson Curse, Zendaya as Cut-Throat, Lily Aldridge as Frostbyte, Ellen Pompeo as Luna, Mariska Hargitay as Justice, Cara Delevingne as Mother Chucker, Cindy Crawford as Headmistress

But things seem to have gone mad when Taylor Swift revealed her "Bad Blood" music video. You get tons of special effects, as though a quick flash summarizing movies like Sucker Punch, Sin City and Hunger Games. Together with the endless the list of celebrities appearing, I was so distracted to catch all them, totally not focusing on the music at all~

Beyoncé, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry,  Rita Ora, Chris Rock,  Alexander Wang,  music video's producer - Diplo and even Madonna's sons David and Rocco, made special appearances in the video.

Then came Madonna's "B**** I'm Madonna" music video, She have garnered her team of A-listers as well and it started to seem like it's a secret challenge amongst the singers to #ShowOffYourConnections . Her video was as though running through the mind of a forever-high person, with "hallucinations" of her favourite artiste. It was all over the place and looking at the comments posted, it was a failure...



Though these videos seem to be star studded and looked fun to see these celebrities crossing platforms, but I really don't wish to see another. Maybe they should take a backseat and do a simple video like Maroon 5's "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like A Motherf****r". Shot it on your smartphone, flash your amazing butt and swear like it's the end-of-the-world (Yes, saying this sarcastically).

2011 MTV EMA: LADY GAGA

All New Revamped Food Junction @ Bugis Junction Is Open!

Welcoming 2014 @ The Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2014

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!!!!

Isn't this beautiful? The whole Ocean Financial Centre was "lighted up in flames" as we countdown to 2014. This is the first time a countdown mechanism has been put in place to usher in the New Year in Singapore, a concept borrowed from the New York Times Square New Year Countdown.

This year's countdown celebration was indeed an amazing start to the new year! As the Official Blogger of Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2014, I got to roam around freely and I was assigned one of the best spots to view the whole Marina Bay, visual arts installation and fireworks!

Singaporeans' mood for New Year celebration were not dampened in spite of the downpour earlier in the day. As the sun sets, more and more families started to gather along the Marina Bay to get the best "seats" to watch the magnificent fireworks. The spirit of celebration was also supported by booths set up along The Marina Bay Promenade to cater for last minute shopping and hungry stomachs.

For hubby and I, while waiting for the countdown, stationed ourselves at The Promontory to enjoy the admission free "Celebrate The World" Concert, hosted by Sheikh Haikel and Evelyn Kuek. 

Encompassing the talents from all over the world, we were treated to music throughout the night and my favourite had got to be German DJ Ronski Speed. He got me hopping off my seat and dancing to his beats with the other audience!

 

Other acts also included  Singapore Acapella group Juz-B, Singapore rock band Queen Inc. featuring Sylvester Sim, Singapore singer Chriz Tong Wei En, Malaysian personality Namewee and Filipino rock band Rivermaya.

It was 7 hours of non-stop entertainment and of course the highlight was the much anticipated fireworks display! Everyone cheered, danced and definitely cameras and videos went non-stop snapping. I shall leave you here with the spectacular fireworks... Enjoy!

I loved how to OUE building was "burning" red as it captures the fireworks in its reflection!
