A Battle Of The 'Plungers' At The 2016 Golden Globe Awards? Here's 8 "Who Wore It Best"

Hi Huneybees,

The 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California happened this morning as we are travelling to work and school and the social media is flooded with all the beautiful red carpet photos. There's always the best dressed and worst dressed writeups but being the colour addict here, I'm doing a different take on who wore what colour and who wore it better.

This year, it's a battle of the "fleshes" with plunging necklines, showing flesh right down to your navel as much as possible. But lucky there were a few that preferred to flaunt their figures another way to stand out. One such, Team Yellow!

We have America Ferrera wearing a greek inspired Jenny Peckham gown paired with Judith Leiber clutch and Simon G Jewels on the left whilst Jennifer Lopez on the is already  ruling with the widespread meme on Internet with a yellow Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown donned with 200 carats of Harry Winston diamonds and sparkly silver Jimmy Choo heels and a Judith Leiber clutch.

My votes for J.Lo though for that gown cut is never seen before and well, she's the only one seen showing legs on the red carpet...

Red is just such a beautiful shade on its on, so these 2 ladies Jennifer Lawrence and Emmy Rossum just opted for simple cuts to be paired with blings. I have to give it to Jennifer for she is rocking that crop hairstyle and flaunting that toned waistline of hers in this obliques-baring Dior Haute Couture gown topped with more than 156 carats of Chopard diamonds. Congrats on being a winner! Yay to JOY!

On Emmy Rossum: Strapless, crimson silk crepe dress by Armani Prive, teamed with statement diamond necklace

The maroon tone on a red carpet is normally pretty hard to pull off and stand out, but Olivia Wilde worked it with a plunging scarlet Michael Kors gown that shimmers with her Bulgari chunky jeweled choker, cocktail ring and gold clutch.

While on the other hand, Zendaya opted to volumised her petite figure with a tiered Marchesa gown with laser-cut floral details, dangling Yoko London pearl-and-diamond earrings, a Lydia Courteille ring and a black Marchesa clutch.

So, who will you choose? I'm picking Zendaya for this dress looked gorgeous on her, maturing her from her Disney days and just because she don't even look like a layered cake, I have to give her the thumbs up.

Though Amy Schumer didn't win voicing over as Sadness in Disney's Inside Out, blue seemed like a hot number to pick on the red carpet this year and it seemed like a colour for all skin tones and all ages.

I find it a tie between Jenna Dewan-Tatum's celestial Zuhair Murad Couture with matching Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Viola Davis's twinkling tulle ball gown with a peek-a-boo plunging neckline and cape flutter sleeves. Both shine like the beautiful stars in the night sky and it's really hard to pick! :)

On Julianna Moore: fully sequined long-sleeved navy gown with an asymmetrical velvet collar and Chopard jewelry.
On Gina Rodiguez: Navy blue Zac Posen dress teamed with sapphire and diamond jewelry by Neil Lane and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Sorry Keltie Knight, as much as I'm loving that emerald off shoulder Walter Mendez dress with fishtail hem, I have to vote best plunging neckline gown to Jamie Alexander who wore this gorgeous geometric gown with Lorraine Schwartz emeralds. Topped with her fair skin and jet black hair, she is definitely popping out of the red carpet.

Yes! Everyone should be aging like Judith Light! Arriving in a white couture tux by Maggie Norris Couture tux, she beats Lily James in her goddess like rainbow pastel Marchesa gown hands down, showing some girl empowerment there! :)

Lady Gaga in her velvet off-the-shoulder Atelier Versace gown and 210 carats of Neil Lane diamonds might have made us forget about her meat dress days, Kristen Dunst's plunging Valentino Haute Couture gown with criss-cross straps around the back, plus vintage Fred Leighton diamonds reminds us of her performance in "Interview With a Vampire". This daring number wins!

And last but not least, not forgetting the Team Sparkles. Brie Larson appeared in a body-hugging and baring custom Calvin Klein Collection dress that she describes as "like [being] in a hug constantly," plus Tiffany & Co. jewels. Whilst Portia Doubleday went for a full disco-ball look in a mirrored Naeem Khan gown with V-neckline, plus a delicate Simon G. Jewelry diamond bracelet.

As much as Brie Larson is one of the best dressed named with her goddess-eques gown, I have to say I like Portia's one more. Come on! Who can actually look good and sexy dressed like a disco ball?! She really owned it!

So, any of the gowns are making you run to stores?
I'm definitely getting some inspiration as to what to wear for Chinese New Year (CNY) already.
What about you?

Lady Gaga Surprised Crowd At Controversial Event Of The Year - European Games 2015

Hi Huneybees,

Seems like Mother Monster is not so much of a freak yet. Ahead of her leading role in the upcoming American Horror Stories : Hotel, she made a surprise performance today at the opening of the inaugural European Games 2015.

“I’m extremely honoured to be playing at the Opening Ceremony in Baku, and to be celebrating all of the amazing athletes who will compete in the European Games in this beautiful city”  --- Lady Gaga.
Held in Baku, Azerbaijan, she performed an emotional rendition of John Lennon's classic "Imagine" as part of the two-hour show. Stunning the crowd filling Baku's 68,000-capacity Olympic Stadium, with her amazing vocals and flowers blooms, the games' opening show was as grand as the Olympics.

Lady Gaga performings on stage during the opening ceremony of the 1st European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan. – Reuters pic, June 13, 2015.
Lady Gaga showed off her new blonde look, with a clean, contoured look, made us focus on her voice and the beautifully decorated piano. It was nice for once, we were not "screaming" at how scary her outfits look, bringing us back to when she first started. She looked so relaxed and I guess her whole year of jazz "practices"last year have brought her vocal chords to a higher level.

Anyway, did Lady Gaga touch up her face?
Does she look different to you guys too?
What do you think?

[Tried & Tested] Turning Electric With Manic Panic

Hi Huneybees,

So, after a month odd of hair washing, my "Dark Forest" hair has faded to this pastel turquoise. I miss my colours and so here's another change to my hair...

This time round I have the Rockabilly Blue (Amplified), Purple Haze (Amplified) and Electric Lizard to play with. I'm infatuated with the neon Electric Lizard the moment I was introduced to Manic Panic. So I insisted on having this colour this time round. Hehehehe...

See how beautiful the colour is?! I had my hair coloured in sections, that's why I turned into this robot hair of aluminium foils. It took around 2 hours to get the hair fully coloured and whilst waiting for the hair colour to seep in, might as well "blow" some bubble...

After half a day of sitting in the salon, my hair is finally done! Electric Lizard and Purple Haze in the top, with a little Rockabilly Blue peeking from underneath. My hairstylist even layered my hair, so that I can show off all those colours. I totally dig this new hair colour! What about you?

Thank you 77th Street for the lovely colours. You can get Manic Panic hair colours online at www.77thstreet.com,  and all 77th Street outlets.

Manic Panic has been a leading semi-permanent hair color since 1977 and many celebrities, models and stylists have been using their colours! Their famous VEGAN formula not only colors but conditions the hair. Available 30 vibrant rainbow shades of MANIC PANIC HIGH VOLTAGE "CLASSIC" CREAM HAIR COLORS, with some that glow under black light!

MANIC PANIC AMPLIFIED Cream Formula is a stronger, longer lasting formula. AMPLIFIED Cream Formula lasts 30% longer. You can get the same fantastic VEGAN ingredients as the CLASSIC FORMULA with longer lasting colours. My hairstylist love the 4oz squeeze bottles as they are easier to dispense and colour the hair as she holds on to the aluminium foils.

Register With Do No Call (DNC) Registry & Say Goodbye To Unsolicited Telemarketing Calls Or Messages

Hi Huneybees,

Don't you just hate it when people just call you up to promote their products to you and when you said stop calling me, they simply just won't heed? Enough with the insurance agents & property agents, it's time to put an end to all these unwanted soliciting calls!

Say hi to the Do Not Call (DNC) Registry. They are here to help!

What is Do Not Call (DNC) Registry?
The DNC Registry (Under the Personal Data Protection Commission Singapore) is a national database for subscribers to register their Singapore telephone numbers if they choose not to receive unsolicited telemarketing calls, messages or faxes. The 3 Registers are:
  • No Voice Calls
  • No Text Messages (e.g. SMS/MMS, inclusive of Whatsapp, Line, WeChat, etc)
  • No Fax Messages
DNC Registry Website: www.dnc.gov.sg
Personal Data Protection Commission Website: www.pdpc.gov.sg

So, yes! You can now avoid all those pesky telemarketers through the “Do Not Call” Registry ! Once your number is on the DNC list, they are not allowed to call you to solicit (unless you have given them consent).

How to register?
Starting on 2 December 2013, individuals can start registering with DNC to keep unwanted calls or messages away. Registration is Free! No expiry date unless you withdraw your registration or terminate your number.

    1. Online @ DNC Registry websiteLog on to www.dnc.gov.sg to register or deregister on any Register.
Note: Access to the device which you are registering the number of is required to complete the registration.
    2. SMS

*Note: You can only register the number that you call from. This number must not be subscribed to caller-ID blocking service.
You should expect to stop receiving unsolicited telemarketing messages through your registered telephone number 30 days after registration (if you register on or after 2 July 2014) and up to 60 days after registration (if you register before 2 July 2014).
Your registration does not expire unless you terminate your telephone number or if you deregister your telephone number from the DNC Register(s). You may deregister at any time.

What do organisations have to do?
Under the DNC Provisions of the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA), starting from 2 January 2014, organisations have to follow the below requirements:
    • Check the DNC Registry before conducting any telemarketing activities, unless clear consent has been obtained.
    • Organisations cannot send unsolicited telemarketing messages to telephone numbers registered on DNC Registrers.
    • Provide contact information in the telemarketing messages
    • Ensure that calling line identity is displayed when making telemarketing calls

    What about Non-Marketing Messages?
Organisations do not need to check with the DNC Registry if the messages that they sent are purely for:
    • Service calls (e.g. reminder of an appointment)
    • Market Survey or Research
    • Charitable or Religious causes (e.g. donations to a charitable organisation)
    • Business-to-Business

Asian Couture Night At FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013

    Hi Huneybees,

Before Guo Pei was presented that night at FIDé Fashion Weeks, we saw the incredible works of 3 Asian designers - Michael Cinco from Philippines and Vatit Itthi from Thailand. Both designers showcased incredible pieces of art.

Michael Cinco, a Philippines couturier based in Dubai for the last 15 years, is highly sought after by celebrities like Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Sofia Vergara, Brandy, Britney Spears, Fergie, J Lo, Ciara, and Chris Brown.

He reinterpreted the Spanish Flamenco dress in his own magic. Not only were there smart suits for the men (like the suave-y bull fighters), the gowns were exceptionally breath taking, with the romantic music in the background, each piece of work was telling its own stories...

The collection was separated by three key colours – skin nude, lipstick red and gothic black. Where each colour comes with a breath-taking gown in sheer silk tulles, French laces and heavily beaded and crystallised. Every piece comes with intricate details, his workmanship and finishing is second to none. There's no loose threads, no unfinished seams. Simply the work of  a genius!

The highlight had to be the black and maroon gown with a cascading multi-tiered train. 200-metres of tulle were embroidered at the hems and took five helpers to carry it from the changing room to the back of the stage.

Next to take centre stage was the Thai duo of Vatit Virashpanth and Itthi Metanee, known under the label Vatit Itthi. They started the line in 2002 in Chicago, before relocating back to Bangkok to carry on their line of red-carpet gowns.

Fresh from Bangkok’s Elle Fashion Week, the collection was about an “old school, new world” attitude. Adapting ‘old’ silhouettes from around and after WW2, the duo used draping, sheer overlays and embellishments of handmade delicate silk flowers and strategic beadwork to highlight the 29 ensembles of simple and classic lines.

It was definitely a I-feel-proud-to-be-Asian moment that night. We have changed so much over the years and I must say we are definitely on par with the internationally acclaimed brands out there.

Sorry, I didn't catch Jeannie at her best moment...
Before I go, I'm gona post a couple of photos of Jeannie Mai interviewing Vatit Virashpanth and Itthi Metanee backstage after their runway show. They were so humble and friendly, good job guys!
