Sentosa Rides On "Wings Of Time" In Preparation For An All New Experience

Hi Huneybees,

Get ready as an all new iconic night attraction at Sentosa gets a facelift and returns with an all new experience!

Barges and giant cranes are used to bring in the individual “triangles” that form the panoramic backdrop for the show.

The preparation goes underway for the development of Wings of Time with the installation of the new backdrop and equipment to the upgrading of existing effects, the stage is being set to provide guests with a wondrous one-of-a-kind experience of majestic proportions. With the increased focus on audience engagement, an ensemble of 20 talented young artistes is in the midst of intensive training to enthrall audiences this June.

Technicians in progress as they carefully secure each portion of the backdrop. Every “triangle” is painstakingly mounted individually.
Sentosa worked closely with the production team from ECA2 to tear down the existing backdrop from Songs of the Sea, and construct the new backdrop – a 10-metre backdrop, consisting of 9 triangles that would be illuminated to create panoramic vistas during the performances.

Careful planning and meticulous installation stretched over a week as this was the first time such a structure has been planned and installed in the world. The multimedia effects of over 180 equipment, including six 3D projectors, coloured lasers, and water fountains have also been installed. Night testing of equipment is currently in progress till 16 June.

The completed backdrop – set among the picturesque scenery of Sentosa’s Siloso Beach, ready to greet our guests soon.
The Birth of Stars
Wings of Time will see a greater extent of audience engagement, with the inclusion of a pre-show segment. A team of 20 talented young artistes from Singapore and overseas have been brought together for intensive training in vocals, acting, and audience engagement skills.

Goodbye To Songs Of The Sea, Hello Wings Of Time!

Hi Huneybees,

As the sun sets, we waved goodbye to Sentosa's Signature Songs of the Sea show. I was treated to one final round of the theatrical show with the CEO of Sentosa Development Corporation - Mr Mike Barclay.

After a successful 7 year run, the show has captivated 8.5 million guests with its unique blend of live cast, dramatic effects and pyrotechnics. I remember spending one of my birthdays at Sentosa and the night ended with a lovely time with hubby as we watched the sun set and the show began. You can read all about it here - http://huneyzworld.blogspot.sg/2012/09/happy-birthday-sentosa.html.

Before we proceeded to the show, Mr Mike Barclay gave us a speech, announcing the upcoming plans of the upcoming new show that will take over in 17 June 2014 - Wings of Time.

Wings of Time (produced by the award-winning events company ECA2) will be showcasing a new choreography of pyrotechnics and special effects woven together, telling the story of a fantastic journey through time and space. A bird-like creature - Shahbaz will travel from prehistoric times to go on an adventure with 2 modern-day teenagers in search of home.

Along the way, they will discover the world by exploring wondrous locations around the world and as they helped Shahbaz find his way home, they will face a test of courage and friendship, alongside the new 10-metre tall backdrop against the Sentosa Siloso Beach skyline, new robotic fountains and 3D video mapping.

Wings of Time will be a ticketed performance, with daily shows at 7.40pm and 8.40pm along Siloso Beach. Premium seats are available at S$23 per person, while standard seats are at S$18 (standard rate) and S$15 (local residents).

Advanced tickets are available from 12 May onwards at store.sentosa.com.sg

So, I shall leave you with photos of the final moments of Songs of the Sea. The cast even did a special segment of dancing "into" the audience crowd and giving CEO Mr Mike Barclay "Hi 5"!!! I simply can't wait to catch the new show - Wings of Time.

Sentosa’s Signature Songs of the Sea Show to Wave Singapore Goodbye

Hi Huneybees,

Sentosa’s signature Songs of the Sea show is waving goodbye to make way for a brand new production. It is sad to wave goodbye to "old friends" but it is also exciting to see what's new...

Songs of the Sea, will make its final performance after a successful seven-year run on 4 May 2014. With less than a month left to the last screening of this one and only night extravaganza set in the sea, don’t miss the chance to enjoy the show with family and friends at a special rate. More than 5,000 tickets at a 50 per cent discount will be offered on Sentosa’s Facebook page.

If you want to know what's Songs of the Sea about, check it out on my day trip out in Sentosa...

Since its debut in March 2007, Songs of the Sea’s unique blend of live cast, dramatic effects and pyrotechnics has wowed close to 8.3 million visitors over more than 5,000 shows. The 25-minute show was produced by award-winning events company ECA2, the team behind the France World Football Cup Ceremony in 1998, the XXIX Olympic Games Ceremonies in 2008, and the Shanghai World Expo 2010.

Songs of the Sea, which has become a must-see attraction, is a visual feast featuring water geysers, aqua screens, fire jets, lasers and pyrotechnics with a “kelong” style backdrop in an outdoor theatre on the scenic Siloso beach. A live cast, with main character Li, his friends and an animated clown fish Oscar brings audiences on an underwater adventure to remember.

Come June, a brand new multi-sensory production will be unveiled in its place, as part of Sentosa’s efforts to refresh its iconic night show to remain attractive and relevant to both local residents and tourists. The creative force in ECA2 has once again taken on the challenge to conceptualise and develop a new multimedia showcase that is set to be a dazzling jewel in Singapore’s night scene. This one-of-a-kind show aims to transport audiences of all ages to a world of wondrous possibilities and fun-filled entertainment. More details of the show will be shared closer to date.

Songs of the Sea is a ticketed performance, with daily shows at 7.40pm and 8.40pm along Siloso Beach.
Premium seats are available at S$18 per person, while standard seats are at S$15 (standard rate), and S$12 (for local residents).

In addition to the Facebook offer where fans can claim a 50 per cent discount off these rates, an Instagram contest will be held from 10 to 20 April where participants stand to win attractive prizes, including a backstage visit, by submitting their cherished memories of Songs of the Sea through photos and captions. Submissions will have to include the hashtag #goodbyeSOTS. Selected photos from the contest will be showcased as part of the finale performance on 4 May.
