Chinese New Year 2026 Got a Whole Lot Cuter: Kele’s Sanrio Collection, Gold Tins & Pokémon Comeback

Hi Huneybees,

I dropped by the Kele pop-up store recently, and as someone who’s a long-time fan of all things cute, I can confidently say this... Chinese New Year 2026 just got EXTRA adorable. Between the sweet colours, familiar Sanrio faces, and the comforting scent of pineapple tarts in the air, it felt like a perfect blend of festive nostalgia and playful joy.

Kele, Singapore’s heritage name synonymous with pineapple tarts and premium snack treats, is welcoming Chinese New Year 2026 with a whimsical lineup that beautifully blends tradition, modern elegance, and irresistible charm. This year’s collections feel thoughtfully designed for joyful family gatherings, meaningful gifting, and adding a little magic (and cuteness) to your festive table.

A Singapore Heritage Brand with Over 40 Years of History

Kele 可楽 (pronounced Kerh-Lerh) is a beloved Singapore pastry brand with over four decades of heritage. Since 1983, Kele has championed pineapple tarts as more than just a festive snack — they’re a gift of culture, history, and prosperity. Crafted in Singapore with care, Kele’s treats have found their way into homes both locally and around the world through festive gifting and travel souvenirs.

Over the years, Kele has received numerous accolades, including being featured in the Michelin Guide in 2018, earning the “Made With Passion” brand mark from the Singapore Tourism Board, and most recently being officially recognised as an SG Heritage Business by the National Heritage Board. It’s a meaningful nod to Kele’s role in preserving local food heritage while continuing to evolve with the times.

Today, what began as a family-run bakery lives on through second-generation owners Adrian and Gordon, who honour the traditions they grew up with while reimagining Kele for new generations of snack lovers.

Kele x Sanrio: A Festive Must-Have for CNY 2026

One of the highlights this year has to be the Kele Sanrio Collection, and seeing it in person at the pop-up store made it even more delightful. Six collectible tin designs feature Kele’s six bestsellers, each paired with an iconic Sanrio character. It’s festive gifting that instantly sparks joy, especially if you love cute collectibles as much as I do.

Sanrio Tin Line-up & Pricing

  • $37.80 — Golden Pineapple Balls (Hello Kitty Edition)
Golden, melt-in-your-mouth pastry with rich pineapple filling, delivering the perfect balance of buttery texture and tropical sweetness.

  • $37.80 — Traditional Pineapple Tarts (Pompompurin Edition)
A nostalgic favourite with buttery pastry and smooth, indulgent filling.

  • $39.80 — Double Cheese Ball (Kuromi Edition) *I love this exciting twist*
Crispy on the outside with a rich, double-layered cheese filling, adds a little savoury touch.

  • $27.80 — Shrimp Rolls (My Melody Edition)
Flaky pastry packed with savoury, fresh shrimp filling with a slight spicy kick.

  • $28.80 — Grandparents’ Almond Cookies (Cinnamoroll Edition)
Buttery cookies with crunchy almond bits for that satisfying bite.

  • $27.80 — Chicken Floss Rolls (Pochacco Edition)
Soft, buttery pastry filled with premium chicken floss.

Each tin feels thoughtfully designed, with every character carefully chosen to complement its snack that's pretty enough to display, meaningful enough to gift, and practical enough to reuse long after the treats are gone.

Classic, Petite, and a Little Extra Bling

For those who prefer timeless elegance, the Kele Classic Gold Tin Collection returns for 2026 with refreshed designs and an upgraded metallic gold finish (*bling bling brighter). These tins are filled with iconic pineapple tarts and premium cookies, making them ideal for visiting relatives, hosting gatherings, or corporate gifting.

Selected flavours such as Golden Osmanthus, Matcha, and Earl Grey are exclusively available in the gold tins this year, making them especially sought-after for the festive season.

New: Petite Gold Tins

To commemorate Kele’s SG Heritage Business recognition, the brand has also introduced Petite Gold Tins — compact, giftable, and perfect for smaller households, thoughtful add-ons, or for those who simply want a taste of everything.

New flavours include:

  • Seaweed Crispy Rolls

  • Lucky Lychee Cookies

  • Nyonya Ondeh Ondeh Cookies

Pokémon Collection Makes a Comeback

Following its enthusiastic response in 2025, the Kele Pokémon Collection is returning for Chinese New Year 2026. Pokémon-themed tins filled with familiar favourites like Traditional Pineapple Tarts and Golden Pineapple Balls will definitely be a fun addition to the festive spread for both kids and adults. Time to catch them all!

At Kele, celebrating Chinese New Year has always been about honouring cultural traditions, preserving the heritage that connects us to our roots and community, while continuing to delight new generations. And with this year’s Sanrio collection, it’s safe to say that CNY 2026 feels not just festive, but wonderfully kawaii too!!!!

Retail Promotions (While Stocks Last)

From 8 January 2026, in-store purchases that include at least one Sanrio Collection tin qualify for gifts with purchase:

  • Minimum spend $88: Receive 1 Sanrio Red Packet Set

  • Minimum spend $128: Receive 1 Hello Kitty Enamel Pin Set (worth $8.80)

One More Thing Before You Go

And if you’re a fellow lover of cute collectibles, keep an eye out for the super adorable Singapore Mint Cinnamoroll Chinese Zodiac Collection, now available in all Kele stores! There’s also an upcoming collaboration with Shio & Sato featuring the Cheesy Pineapple Shio Pan — which I had the chance to sample. It’s a fun, unexpected twist on the classic bolo bun, and I have a feeling it’s going to create quite a buzz when it launches. I’ll be sharing more updates very soon.

My Digital Shilin Market 2020 Experience

| |
Hi Huneybees,

Missy Coronavirus has made traveling overseas restricted and I was craving for a Taiwanese fix, that's why last Friday, I was on standby mode waiting for Digital Shilin Singapore 2020 to "open up" at 3pm.

Being stuck at home since the start of Circuit Breaker, this event has been on top of my radar as I was super curious about how this digital night market experience would be like.

Kudos to Invade.co in making the whole Night Market a digital experience in such short notice, I can only say it was a somewhat satisfying as there were some disappointments for me since I didn't manage to fulfill everything on my 'wishlist' at this digital event.

The Shilin Market is split into 4 virtual zones - there are things to eat, things to buy, and also entertainment and games to keep you occupied and spend the weekend in songs and workshops.

I started first with the 'PLAY' section as I expect there would be some digital flash arcade games like shooting balloons or throwing darts. Regrettably, it wasn't the way I expected it to be as I felt the section was more like promotional games for SingTel GoMo and Bubble Tea Factory.
The consolation was I won myself a plushie from the 'Lost in Shilin' game and I am currently waiting to be contacted for the collection.

And in case if you are interested in getting a new mobile plan, check out the promo code above.

My favourite zone was the 'SHOP' zone, who can resist shopping right? Especially when you can do all of it from the comfort of your sofa, scrolling, clicking and checking out with your credit cards!

There are several local brands that are supported by Shopee featuring handiworks like accessories, customer made pouches, Taiwan snacks, and even virus-be-gone products. But my focus was on those Taiwan exclusives products that you can get via iCarry.

Not only did I find a new shopping platform, but I also managed to buy those Taiwanese snacks and souvenirs that I've been craving for. I've bought several items and it's already been a week, I'm still on pending delivery, I'll share again when I receive them. iCarry even has Japanese products too, but I'll explore that another time.

'EAT' Zone was my most anticipated one, yet it was also the most disappointing one for me. The selection of Taiwanese food was pretty minimal and not all of them delivers to my place here in Yishun. After so long, I thought my bubble tea craving could be satisfied with "Playmade by 丸作", only to find out that they don't even deliver to my area ~~~

In the end, I didn't get to buy any food for the delivery charge was a little too much too. Each stall had their own minimum target amount to hit before they would deliver and on top of that, delivery charge was $10 EACH STALL!

Which means, if I wanted Pancakes from Taiwan Waffles, Iberico Pork Lu Rou Fan from The Masses and Sandwiches from Egg Stop, my delivery charge alone would already be $30! It was a little costly, I really envy those who managed to get to have cheaper delivery charges. Should I try ordering from a stall this weekend? Just to satisfy my taste buds?? What you think?

Digital Shilin Singapore 2020 will be back again this weekend June 19 to 21; and under the ‘FUN’ Zone, you can look forward to Cooking Segments by Aaron Wong, Home Workouts with Jamie Teo, alongside song performance by Circo, The Moonhouse, etc.

😊😊😊😊😊😊

I know today marks the opening of Phase 2 of Singapore's post-circuit breaker (Congratulations everyone!), but please don't all rush out immediately. If not needed, why not stay home and check out the Digital Shilin Singapore 2020. Stay safe my Huneybees!

Time To Get Baking For CNY With SCS Butter

| |
Hi Huneybees,

It's time for celebration to brush off the old and usher in the New Year. This year, you can ring in a brand new Chinese New Year as the ram prances aside to make way for the spirited year of the monkey!

Of course angbaos (red packets) are highly anticipated, but ever since I got married and the "collection" gets lesser, my target is now shifted towards the Chinese New Year goodies, that keeps me busy and my tummy filled with the delicious treats.

The mention is Ba Kuah (Pork Jerkies), Love Letters and PINEAPPLE TARTS are already getting me drooling. Pineapple tarts are not only tasty and refreshing, but it also have a prosperous meaning that represents wealth, luck and fortune. That's why we can't stop popping these delicious tarts during these few days of celebration (ya right!).

One of the most important and basic ingredient to bake these melt-in-your-mouth addictive tarts is BUTTER. It is the golden block of butter which confers the pineapple tart its status as the supreme confectionary masterpiece. For these little morsels of festive pleasure, the pastry plays a pivotal and equally crucial role as the pineapple jam. Well-seasoned bakers agree wholeheartedly that the quality of butter grants pastries the buttery crust texture which melts into perfect harmony with the tangy sweetness of the pineapple jam.

And for generations, SCS has earned its place in the hallowed kitchens of many households as the trusted No.1 choice of butter brand for baking, cooking and spreading, sealing its reputation as the definitive must-have quality ingredient when it comes to creating that flawless tray of pineapple tarts and other festive treats.

Check out these yummy and adorable gold coins pineapple tarts by Baking's Corner's Fiona Lau!
“In baking pastries, the quality of butter is essential. It works in tandem with other ingredients to give pastries the buttery and savoury taste we all love. SCS Butter never fails to deliver on this aspect. I have trusted this brand to make my baked treats even more fragrant, flaky and delicious. When it comes to pineapple tarts, SCS Butter is and will always be my preferred choice." ---  Celebrity Blogger, Fiona Lau, founder of highly-popular baking blog ‘Baking’s Corner’

Made with passion and dedication to quality, using the same secret recipe since 1905, SCS Butter goes through a special double churn process, which gives it a rich and creamy taste and is made from 100% Australian grass-fed cows’ milk without the addition of any artificial colourings, additives, or preservatives. It is also packed with Vitamins A, D, E and K.

This year, SCS launches a limited-edition Special Festive Bakers Pack, comprising of three blocks of SCS Unsalted Butter, each block upsized from 227g to 250g (10% extra!) for easier preparation of ingredients. It is retailing at a special price of $11.95 (UP$5.65 per block) and is available on a while-stock-last basis, at selected supermarket stores.

I'm off to get more goodies coz I swept this box clean waaaay before CNY is here. OOPS!
