Eww, I Hate Avril Lavigne's Hello Kitty

Hi Huneybees,

The mouthless Japanese cat has made another hit again as Avril Lavigne sings about Hello Kitty, it's pretty much her dancing around in her undercut hair with lifeless Japanese ladies in the background. She's been getting alot of backlashing for "uglifying" the Japanese culture on the internet.

Totally not a fan of this punk rock princess and she's definitely not the candidate I would imagine singing about Hello Kitty.

Come on! Leave it to Katy Perry eh? 

The whole act cute thing don't suit Avril at all!

At least Pharrell Williams did a good job portraying sexy ladies singing Marilyn Monroe as he dances around in his many, many, many Vivienne Westwood Buffalo felt hat with Kelly Osbourne making a special appearance!

Avril simply needs to go back to her matured lady like style like she had when she did the MV with Chad Kroeger in Let Me Go.

I might get bashed by Avril fans out there, but well, I didn't like how Japan was portrayed in her MV. I'm just gona end this post with a song by Crayon Pop (Uh-ee 어이) that I've been hearing everyday when I was in Korea. Dance along and have a great weekend!!   >.<|||

Miley Cyrus Latest Big Bang Before 2013 Closure

Hi Huneybees,

Just when I'm about to go to bed, there comes another shocking news share on my Facebook page from Missy Cyrus again. She's back to her mischief and this time round, a raunchy new music video - "Adore You". Though still clothed, well, the important areas were covered, the music video was filmed as though a self recording sex tape, running her hands all over her body and of course her signature thumb in mouth moves.

I have to say this year is definitely Miley Cyrus's year to shine and come on, whole year round, we've been talking about her since her act with Robin Thicke. I'm not one of those people who starts saying how slutty she looks etc, even though it does seems inappropriate for an idol to be acting this way.

But well, picking up from her predecessors - SEX SELLS. Right from the beginning of Marilyn Monroe, the innocent wind blowing of skirt showing tiny bits of flesh, till today's Rihanna's show of body in almost every music video, it's hard to not do something more to shine and stand out from the rest.

Do you think you would have taken notice of the song "Wrecking Ball" if she had not had a music video of her naked on a wrecking ball? It would not have hit its million views if it was Disney innocent cutie pie Hannah Montana in the music video!

I have simply no idea what sort of messages the media out there is trying to give to the younger generation, I am simply not liking the way youngsters are dressed these days, butt cheeks are peeking from shorts, boobs are being obsessively maximised and exposed, this is not how I would want my daughter to be dressed up.


But coming back to the music video, I couldn't help keep staring at her flawless skin and minimal makeup look. There hasn't been many singers who dare to show their without makeup look in front of the paparazzi, moreover a music video for the whole world to see!
I've seen plenty of naked models in my artist days and when I'm watching this video in an artistic point of view, I can't help marvel how beautiful her body is. The slender lines and curves on her body with the natural glow, simply made me want to pick up my paintbrush again...
To conclude, I'll not blame Miley Cyrus for what she's is doing today as she is not the first and wouldn't be the last female artist "going naked" in front of TV hence we shouldn't make a big hoo-ha about this, especially in this ever increasingly information diarrhea age.

Nevertheless, while the line that separate reality from fantasy is getting blurred, we as adult should never give up in educating our younger generation that such "Beauty" is created for the purpose of entertainment.

SHINE Youth Festival Bash 2013

Last weekend, the SHINE Youth Festival 2013 came to an end with the SHINE Youth Festival Bash 2013 held at Universal Studios Singapore. It kickstarted with a fireworks show at Lake Hollywood, right in the centre of USS and then, we were led to New York Street for a string of performances.

Hosted by Divian from 987FM, we were treated to performances by The Rockafellas (B-Boy performance) as well as Show Choir from Regent Secondary School.

We also had Guest-of-Honour -Mr Lawrence Wong, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Chairman of National Youth Council giving out awards to the Stars of SHINE for their passion, dedication and perseverance of these young role models who made a difference to others' lives.

Issac Ong YiJie - Since 2006, he has been embarking on annual trips to 3rd World countries to lend aid and in 2011, he started Colours Global, a social enterprise that initiates volunteer movements. His greatest wish for Singaporeans is to be more involved in community work and improve the lives of the less fortunate. He intends to couple his personal interest in media and community work to create what he terms as "media that matters" to reach the masses.

Mark Cheng Jin Quan - While people were out chasing the greenback, Mark chose to bring the world's green back. He co-founded Avelife in 2009, a Non-Profit Organisation working to improve environmental education in Singapore. He is also the Chairman for Project Stomp - a free tuition programme for socially disadvantaged children; the Vice-Chairman for Queenstown Youth Executive Commitment; is part of the NEA Hawker Consultation Panel; and also the co-founder of togather.asia - a crowd funding platform for creative projects. He also wrote "It;s I'MPOSSIBLE" - the bestselling youth motivation, humanitarian and community work book which had then-President SR Nathan penned the foreword.

Muhammad Bukharie Bin Abdul Malik - At 4PM (Malay Youth Literary Association), Bukharie organises activities that inculcate positive personal values fpr Remaja Resilien, a developmental programme for youths. This is where Bukhair mentors and interacts with other youths. He also provides logistics support for Ramadan on Wheels, an annual food disbursement initiative for the elderly and low-income families. He wishes to improve not only his own life for the better, but others' too.

Sim Kang Wei - To show the world how the disabled can be easily be abled, Kang Wei who was born with cerebal palsy takes part in many handcycling charity races to give hope to other less fortunate people and encourage them to dream. He has proved that anyone can go the distance, no matter what. He is currently pursuing a Degree in Counselling and sees this as another step in his journey towards giving back to society once again that the disabled can easily be abled.

Chan Chiang Joo, Nicholas - Hard work was never a stranger to Nicholas who started working at his aunt's corporate gifts silkscreen shop since he was 12. He overcame the odds despite battling with autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as he was offered a chance at investing and business development under the ropes of his dad's friend - CEO of Sim Lim Group. Today, he is a serial entrepreneur-turned-venture capitalist, focusing on assisting young, passionate start-ups in Asia. He is eager to continue empowering more young people and businesses by paying it forward and serving as a mentor himself.

After which, we all had the" wrist-lighting" moment to mark the launch of the NEW SHINE Logo. It aligns with the NYC's commitment to "hear youth and be here for youth". It also aptly highlights the Festival's ground-up nature and emphasizes the dynamism of today's youth.

To wrap things up, we had a fun STIX performance moment. Everyone was involved and we didn't even know that the different coloured tubes actually made different sounds! Click on the video below to check it out!

After that, we had 2 free rides at the "Lights, Cameras and Action" with Steven Spielberg and TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle. FUN!!!!

SHINE 2013 will carry on into August, expanding on the plans of various partners to continue engaging youths on a regular basis, beyond just the Festival period.

[Get The Look] Looking like Marilyn Monroe with M.A.C.

Hi Huneybees,

As you guys know, I have recently acquired the M.A.C. Marilyn Monroe collection. Wana look like Marilyn Monroe? Here's my step by step on how to achieve the look. (Psst, this look was done on my way to out to town in the car. Simple as ABC!)

Step 1. After foundation and powder, draw you brows as usual and apply a light beige eyeshadow (that's close to your skin colour) all over the lid.

Step 2. On the out corner of the lid, draw a V inwards and up, along your eyeball, stopping mid lid. To create a deeper set of eyes.

Step 3: Using a beige eyeliner, draw a line on your lower waterline.

Step 4: Draw a wing tipped eyeline. Try to stick as close to the lashes as possible.

Just a thin line will do.

Step 5: Apply mascara of false lashes and (here comes the difficult part when the car is on the move) using a red lip pencil, shape your lips and fill it in.

Step 6: Apply your red lipstick and dab a little gloss in the middle of lips for the extra pout.

Step 7: Finish off with a light dab of blusher and a little contouring if you like.

Get a blonde wig and dip a little sexy mole on your cheek for your Marilyn Monroe impersonation... :X

The collection is already available in all M.A.C. stores and I've already gotten my few must-have products from the collection at ION Sephora. However, the eye shadows were not available. I will have to head to town again another day. Here's a preview of what I've bought.

The packaging is a monochrome image of Marilyn Monroe in different poses for the different products, together with a Scarlett Red Marilyn Monroe signature. However, the lady on the packaging and ad is not the real Marilyn as she has gone to a better place, so they had a model who looks like her for the images...

Inside every box, you will find a sexy lipstick mark. What a surprise...

For face, I got the Beauty Powder (Forever Marilyn) and a blusher (Legendary). A red lipstick is a must and I got the Love Goddess that has a slight pink tinge to it. As well as sparkly white gloss called Little Rock to add shine to the lipstick.

Other products I got is the Beet Lip Pencil to match the Love Goddess Lipstick as well as the must get Brow Finisher for the sleek eyebrow and hold it for the day.

And lastly, red nails for the sexy lady. I got 2 shades - Kid Orange and Vintage Vamp. One is a bright red orange and the other is slightly to the goth side, a deep maroon colour.
