Enter The Multiverse of Artist Santu Song

Hi Huneybees,

All this talk about Metaverse, Web3, and NFTs is making my head big. Grasping this whole new world takes some work and that's why I'm taking every chance to learn more about them. This week at ION Art, there's a Santu's Multiverse art exhibition that might shed some light...

For the first time in Singapore, contemporary artist Santu Song, one of China's most celebrated artistic personalities of our generation,  invites you to delve into her arcane world that is filled with a myriad of otherworldly sensory and existential perceptions, and emblematic denotations – while humankind attempts to coalesce, and perhaps even reconcile, beliefs with futuristic technology through her digital artworks, NFTs and her official Santu Web3 Club.

Born and raised in Shanghai, Santu was accepted by the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London at the tender age of 15. She continued her education in the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she pursued a Master's degree in Filmmaking.

Over the years, she has exhibited her artworks in several international art shows, including Art Basel and SCOPE International Contemporary Art Show in Miami, and in several private shows in London, and she was commissioned by corporations and luxury brands, such as K11 Art Mall in Beijing, Shanghai W Hotel, Montblanc and Cadillac to create large, installation artworks for public spaces and events.

Santu has often been likened by the Chinese media to Pablo Picasso, who happens to be one of Santu's favourite artists, and was hailed as the "Female Picasso of the New Era". She often draws on inspiration from a particular quote by the Father of Cubism – "The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls" – and believes that it is in the Arts that humanity confides, to express lament, faith, and hope, especially in perilous times of war and uncertainties.

Her creations, though cheerfully presented, call into question the significance of digitisation in human flourishing, which is the purest of all human endeavours, and the purpose of a well-lived life, juxtaposing nature, spirituality, and humanity with technology. Evident in her artworks in the form of their totem-like configurations, colours and the liberal use of symbols like 'eyes', which reflect the viewers' souls, and gigantic 'blossoms' that represent feminine beauty, strength and unity while revealing the might of Mother Nature in a digitised world.

Her well-loved works have been hailed as 'neoteric' and her message 'progressive' and 'visionary' by many, and she now hopes to bring her art and vision to an even wider audience in Europe, America and the rest of Asia, through collaborations, exclusive showcases, and commission works by internationally renowned brands such as Dolce & Gabbana. The Santu Web3 Club is powered by Supercharge, a groundbreaking platform that merges gamification, rewards, and community ownership with the power of Web3 technology, specially crafted to enable communities and businesses to unlock their full potential and establish enduring relationships with their members. Powered by AI, DAO and gamification tools that leverage Web3 technology for an unparalleled experience, Supercharge is poised to revolutionise the brand community and amplify customer loyalty.

Santu's Multiverse will be held from 3rd to 12th of May 2023 at ION Art, Level 4, ION Orchard, No 2 Orchard Turn, Singapore 238801, and is open to public daily.
*Visitors to Santu's Multiverse will receive an original NFT by the artist.
Please check the official event website for timings as the exhibition may be closed for private events. #santusong #Art #ArtExhibition #SantusMultiverse #IONArt

Checking Out The Orchard Christmas Light-Up 2021

| |
0 comments
Hi Huneybees,

Orchard Road just lit up and got all dressed up for Christmas, so I made a date with hubby to go for a stroll and soak in the festive mood. Themed as "Christmas in Bloom", this year's iteration will see the shopping street set aglow with about 68km of fairy lights and oversized floral decorations, with some parts dressed with bold neon lights, spanning from Tanglin area till Dhoby Ghaut.

There's also a giant outdoor video projection as the highlight of this year's annual Orchard Road Christmas light-up. It takes up an entire wall of the Mandarin Orchard hotel and together with augmented reality, you can see the fireworks animation through a mobile app - PopAR.

The giant outdoor projection will be screened from Nov 1 to Jan 2, with a 10-minute 3D show from 8pm to 10.30pm daily. A virtual tour of the shopping street, which will start from Nov 19 through Jan 2, will also offer 360-degree views and feature performances by local buskers.

While, like last year, there will be no street activities and performances, there will be speakers put up on the stretch between ION Orchard and Ngee Ann City playing popular Christmas carols. From Nov 1, shoppers walking along the stretch will hear the tunes daily between 5pm and 10.30pm, extended to 12.30am for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
The 3.1km light-up will kick off on Nov 13, with seven weeks of festivities till Jan 2. The lights will be turned on from 6.30pm to midnight from Sundays to Thursdays, till 2am for Fridays and Saturdays, and stay on overnight on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, until 6am.

The 12m-tall main arch at the Scotts-Paterson road junction is always the highlight for me. This year, it is decked with colourful lights accentuated with red and rose gold poinsettias, a traditional Christmas flower that symbolises purity and mirth during this Christmas period.

Right next to the arch, is ION Orchard and this year their highlight is the huge Chanel Christmas tree, which if u scan the secret QR code, you can redeem a little gift at their boutique store in the shopping mall. The blue and gold lights combination makes the mall look so majestic at night.

Walking down the street brings us to Wisma Atria and this year their theme is Alice in Wonderland. Above their iconic lighted steps, you can find some friendly animals and forest land with a red Christmas tree waiting for your Insta-worthy shots.

Walking down to Ngee Ann City, was the AR projection that took attention, so after watching that, we crossed the road to Paragon and captured some pictures with the huge red Christmas tree.

Further down the as we enter the Cairnhill-Orchard road junction, the flowers on the gold arches changes to white Christmas roses. Creating another new sector as we approach 313@Somerset's magical fairytale-themed Christmas set...

After a little Christmas gift shopping, we headed down towards Orchard Gateway. We were anticipating for something grand as every year they seem to be the highlight of the street. Sadly we only found a lighted Christmas box at the entrance that you can walk in for a photoshoot. It was a little disappointing as the lighting was a little difficult to get a nice shot and a lot of people simply just walked past it.

**Updated**

Orchard Gateway haven't had their Christmas decorations up yet, so we went to town another day to get more pictures when we saw on Instagram that they had an "airport terminal" ready for North Pole.

In the mall, you can find a plane waiting area with baggage ready for Northbound, whereas outside along the mall, there's a pink lighted train parked right at Orchard Central Station, celebrating LOVE. :)

If only our MRTs were disco lighted too right? So, hopping off the "train", we came to Dhoby Ghaut to catch up on the latest POP MART Molly-s. Molly is a doll character created by Hong Kong designer Kenny Wong and because of her adorable large eyes and pouted lips, Molly soon gained fame. In recent years POP MART has collaborated with Molly and came up with tons of blind box series which drove the fans crazy.

If you are a fan of Molly too, you can find more collectibles on display at FUNAN too. Ok, so here's my little Orchard Road Light Up summary, of course there are more decorations to find around the heartland malls. Anywhere you think their Christmas decorations stands out too? Share them with us too.

Merry Christmas my Huneybees!
May the festive season bring in love, warmth, fortune and health! 💓

Experience The Signature of LG Technology At ION Today!

| |
Hi Huneybees,

If you are looking to improve your living experience at home, a visit to the LG Signature Exhibition might just be the trip you need.

Opened to much funfare on 11th May 2017 at ION Orchard Atrium Level 1, with an orchestra, MediaCorp Artistes and two-time winner of Asia's Best Pasty Chef, Janice Wong of 2am:dessertbar, LG proudly unveiled its ultra-premium brand that blends sophisticated technology with modern minimalist designs through a showcase of its stunning Home Appliances and Consumer Electronics.

The key highlights at LG Signature Exhibition, are the two winners of Best of the Best awards at this year's Red Dot Design awards — LG SIGNATURE W7 OLED TV and Smart InstaView refrigerator — for their innovation and contribution to the design community.

LG SIGNATURE W7 OLED TV is simply a marvel, in term of both design and technology, to look at.

At just 2.57mm thick for a 65-inch model, you can just paste it onto the wall using a magnetic bracket! Built with LG OLED revolutionary pixel dimming control technology, which renders perfect black without any light leakage for infinite contrast ratio, you could actually display a high-resolution picture of Van Gogh's The Starry Night on the TV and its amazing ability to reproduce the most lifelike image actually created an impression that makes you feel you actually owned the real painting in your living room!!

While there are increasingly more and more smarter refrigerators been launched recently in the marketplace for Home Appliances, none so far allows users to peer inside without opening the door.
Featuring a 29-inch LCD touch display that instantly turns transparent with just two knocks, and come with a Auto Open Door feature that allows the user to open the door of the refrigerator with the user's foot instead of his/her hand (reminded me of opening the boot of premium cars), LG’s InstaView Door-in-Door™ refrigerator was recognized by Red Dot for successfully combining a beautiful appliance with interactive technology.

I personally like the Smart Tag menu within the LCD touch display of the refrigerator because it allows users to add stickers and tags on the screen to indicate which foods (and whose?!) are stored inside and also offers users the ability to input the expiration date of each item, so the refrigerator can issue reminders when foods near their expiration dates.

Do check out other LG SIGNATURE home appliances such as LG SIGNATURE Air Purifier that allows users to visualize air cleaning or the LG TWINWash washing machine at The LG SIGNATURE Exhibition that is open to public from 11 – 23 May at ION Atrium L1.
