The Merlion Makes A Special Appearance On 'We Bare Bears' This National Day!

Hi Huneybees,

Get bear-y excited as a new episode of Cartoon Network’s hit series 'We Bare Bears' surprises their Singapore viewers on National Day. Our city’s icon, the Merlion will make an unexpected appearance in the Asian premiere of “Lil’ Squid” on August 9.

Thank you Cartoon Network, We Bare Bears and Daniel Chong for mentioning and celebrating our Nation's big day with us. Our Merlion looks so realistic and majestic in the cartoon as we follow the three baby bear brothers on an adventure. They build a submarine and explore the depths of an aquarium to reunite a lost squid with his family.

The Merlion’s cameo happened because of a recent trip to Singapore by the show’s creator Daniel Chong. The Burbank-based animator, whose parents are Singaporean, visited the country last year to front the Imagination Studios workshop, a local initiative by Cartoon Network to inspire creativity among kids.

Enjoy the little snippet above, can't wait to catch the full episode on National Day. What about you?
Happy Birthday Singapore! Cheers to my fellow Singaporeans!

Cartoon Network is available on SingTel TV CH226 and Starhub TV CH316, as well as on the Cartoon Network Watch and Play app.

Come Play With Your Favourite Cartoon Network Characters This June

Hi Huneybees,

Cartoon Network fans! There's a new playground to hang out with your favourite characters this June School Holiday! Pan Pan, Grizzly, Ice Bear from We Bare Bears are joined with The Powerpuff Girls, Finn, Jake and friends from Adventure Time as well as Ben 10!

From Saturday 26 May to Sunday 10 June, Cartoon Network Animate Your Life will transform Gardens by the Bay’s Bayfront Plaza into a thriving world of cartoons. The festival will offer a fairground of fun inflatable obstacle courses, carnival games and creative workshops.

Huney'Z World was there a few days ago and recce the festival for the lowdown. The festival is mainly separated into 4 different sections. Townsville where The Powerpuff Girls hangout, Land of Ooo for the ultimate Adventure Time, Bear Cave in San Francisco to find the Bear Trio or hang out at the Ben 10 Boot Camp to train up with your favourite heroes.

Entering the festival ground, we are already greeted by the adorable Ice Bear, Pan Pan and Grizzly. They are littered all over the festival grounds, you will definitely be taking endless selfies with them and if you get tired, why not have a break within the Bear Cave?

Charlie is also hidden within the mountains, spot him as you bounce around in the We Bare Bears Drop Lodge. Join the brothers in the inflatable log ride or scale that mountain and slide down into a colourful ball-pit.

Next to the bears, you will find the Land of Ooo. Finn, Jake, BMO, Lady Rainicorn, Ice King, Princess Bubblegum and even Lumpy Space Princess is here waiting for you to join them in the bubbly fun.

Jake and Lady Rainicorn transforms and pulls into a maze where you have to go through different obstacles to find Jake and BMO. Be careful where you go as there are some tricky directions that might get you lost...

If you are done navigating through the maze, take a breather at the magical Candy Kingdom and join your favourite Princess Bubblegum and Lumpy Space Princess for more photos under the Gumball Guardian. Kids will definitely be loving the bubbles like I did! 😍

Going on, it’s Hero Time with Ben 10 and his family and friends. I'm not very familiar with this animation, but I bet the boys will have an amazing time joining Ben Tennyson in harnessing the power of the Omnitrix.

Ben 10's Aliens like Gax, Fourarms, Heatblast and Cannonbolt have all gathered to help you through the journey and all ready for group photos. But beware of the trick mirrors set up around, don't get lost in those quirky reflections!

Lastly, it's every little girl's favourite power trio as you enter the famous city of Townsville.

Join in their fight against Mojo Jojo or soar with Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup on a giant trampoline ride! Cartoon Network has also partnered with local artist group, Band of Doodlers, to create a special Powerpuff Girls tribute. The live installation is already unveiled on Sunday, 27 May and everyone is invited to leave their mark!

Also make sure to check out the Cartoon Network art gallery, where a series of international artwork will be displayed in celebration of The Powerpuff Girls 20th anniversary.

The fun doesn't just end like that, there are tons of other activities around to get you jumping out of bed and Animate Your Life!

 • An interactive Animate Yourself booth where you can create your own likeness as your favourite character and print it on a t-shirt.
 • A mix of exciting Carnival games testing your agility, accuracy and skill.
 • A chance to learn more about Cartoon Network’s first ever branded ship – Cartoon Network Wave. Designed for everyone who's young at heart, Cartoon Network Wave presents an immersive fun zone, giving you the first glimpse of adventures on-board the world's first toon vacation at sea.
 • A line-up of weekend workshops hosted by leading figures from the animation world primed to spark your creativity. Conducted every Saturday and Sunday at 4.30pm, 5.30pm and 6.30pm; the workshops will teach you how to draw some of Cartoon Network’s most loved characters, offer voice-over challenges and give you a chance to make a stop-animation video. Join Creator Of We Bare Bears In Creating Your Own Animation!

Hi Huneybees,

ARE YOU A FAN OF WE BARE BEARS TOO?! Yes! The creator of Ice Bear, Grizzly and Pan Pan will be in Singapore this April to share more on his animation journey, some tips for budding animators, and his motivation behind his successful Cartoon Network animation series

If you are a budding animator and am interested in joining Mr. Daniel Chong, Creator and Executive Producer of We Bare Bears, in a two-day animation workshop, be sure to read on!

Cartoon Network has announced its partnership with Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) for 'Imagination Studios' for a two-day animation workshop. The industry workshop for adults will be held on Friday, 21 April while a workshop for children will take place on Saturday, 22 April.

Workshop attendees will be introduced to animation and get to speak to the experts on the behind-the-scenes of creating a successful animated series. They also will receive the golden opportunity to have their animation work shown on Cartoon Network!

The workshops will be held at PIXEL Studios, a dedicated facility launched by IMDA last year to spur Singapore’s next generation of digital content creators. Both events will be fronted by the talented animator, Daniel Chong.

After building a successful career in Burbank, California, Daniel will speak about his journey as an artist and the process behind creating one of the hottest new animated series.
Those attending the industry workshop will also hear from a number of animation professionals from Turner and leading studios who will each provide insight into how to conceptualize, refine and pitch an idea. You will also be given the opportunity to submit your own animation idea to Turner which, if selected, could be fully funded and produced by Cartoon Network in partnership with IMDA. The project will also be screened on Cartoon Network across Asia!

As for the kids’ workshop, it will be open to all participants aged between 9 and 13, and aims to introduce children to the wonderful world of animation. Through hands on and group sessions, kids will learn how to create their very own stop animation video in a fun and active environment. The session will be conducted by Vaibhav Kumarev, director of Vaibhav Studios in India, and creator of Cartoon Network shorts, Lamput.

To register or find out more about Imagination Studios, visit CartoonNetworkAsia.com/ImaginationStudios from now till Monday, April 10. Participants will be selected based on a short 50-word write-up to be submitted during registration.

StarHub TV subscribers who sign up for either of the workshops will also receive a Cartoon Network goodie bag containing merchandise from Cartoon Network’s fan-favourite series. More details about the workshop as follows. Have fun making your drawings come to life!! =)
