BLUEPRINT 2014 Opens With Fashion Show By 11 International and Local Designers

This morning, BLUEPRINT 2014 officially opened at Suntec Convention Centre, Hall 401 and 402 with an Opening Fashion Show featuring 11 international and local emerging designers. 1700 guests came to support the designers and here's more from the fashion shows...

BLUEPRINT is the annual shopping event where the fashionistas flock to for the latest designer labels to watch. And this year, it will be held from May 17 to 18, 2014 at the Suntec City Convention and Exhibition Centre, with over 200 emerging designer labels retailing their Pre-Spring collections.

Designers who participated include Abcense from Taiwan, Bitching and Junkfood from United Kingdom, FABITORIA from Taiwan, j a n  |  s o b e r  from Indonesia, Morphe from India, NATALIEBCOLEMAN from Ireland, RÊVASSEUR from Singapore, RICO RINALDI from Malaysia,  ROGGYKEI from Japan (*Lady Gaga approves!), SVETLANA KUSHNEROVA from Kazakhstan and ZÊ QUUN from Korea. 

Something special this year, would be the partnership with the UKTI (United Kingdom Trade & Investment) for the first time. Get ready for a Brit Invasion, as never-seen-before exclusive UK brands (some which Lady Gaga & Rihanna LOVE) hit our shores.

And not just for the ladies, there’s something installed for the papas and kids too! Childrenswear labels will also be introduced at Blueprint 2014 so grab a little something for your little tots and make it a special family shopping day too! :)

The Emporium will be held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, 1 Raffles Boulevard, Suntec City, Singapore, 039593. Opening hours: 17th May: 11am - 8pm, 18th May: 11am - 6pm. Admission is free.

MTV's Beauty School Cop Outs Premieres On Wednesday 19 March

If you are into all things beauty, you would be attracted by this new reality show by MTV - Beauty School Cop Outs.  Premiering on Wednesday, 19 March at 2pm (WIB), 3pm (SIN/HK/PH), 4pm (MAL), the 8 selected, colourful characters are guided by experts in a plush beauty salon in Manchester, U.K. and given the chance of a lifetime to kick start their careers by learning waxing, shaving, tattooing, and practising on real customers

If you love Geordie Shore, you will LOVE this fabulous entertaining reality TV show, shining a light on a group of young wannabe Beauticians who are on the journey of their lives. What could possibly go wrong?!

There will be 4 guys and 4 ladies in the show and here are the boys - There’s Calvin, our Beyoncé obsessed Scouse drag queen who wants to learn all the make-up skills to enable him to pass on the ’drag legacy’. Daniel aka ‘Protein Boy’ who is a gym fanatic, phobic about fat people and is often mistaken for being gay due to his strict beauty regime. Jeremy the Irish model and lothario who would never miss his weekly manicure and lists looking good as his top priority in life. Richard, who states that his body is a temple, works as a club doorman as he thinks it’s the best place to score women and believes working in a beauty salon could be another great place to pull.

Then there are the girls – Barmaid Sacha and the baby of the group, dreams of becoming a make-up artist to the stars, aided by a multitude of wigs and varying shades of tan she is forever changing her look. Self-confessed Barbie Savannah, has all of her make-up tattooed on and says this was the most painful experience of her life even more painful than breaking her arm - but obviously worth it to this beauty fiend. Not a fan of the natural look, dancer Scarlett has been fake tanning since the age of 14 and dreams of one day having her own beauty range so other girls can look as fake and over the top as her. Always needing to be the centre of attention, Tara the MILF of the academy is not afraid to speak her mind leaving her unpopular with other girls and despite admitting having very shaky hands she thinks that beauty is the career for her.

[Get The Look] An Inspired British-Singapore Look For Digital Fashion Week 2013

When I was invited by Digital Fashion Week to participate in a challenge to create my very own British-Singapore-inspired look, I knew I had to do something in relation to the London Eye and our very own Singapore Flyer.

Both tourist attractions were captivating by night and the lighted up wheels against the sunset lights were always etched in my mind. Both being so magnificent and holding much significance to Britain and Singapore, I decided to do a look based on the 2 pictures shown above.

I chose to incorporate The Body Shop Colour Crush eyeshadow - "Blue Over You" to resemble the dusky blue sky and with hints of pink and soft orange to resemble the sunset sky. Of course, not forgetting silver accents to symbolise the blinking lights around both London Eye and Singapore Flyer when the sky turns dark!

And not to overpower the look, I chose to have the popular gradient lips to complement the eyeshadow, reflecting the surreal quietness when both attractions turn dark. They stand to light up the night, looking oh-so-lonely against the river bank...

Together with the make-up look, I have also chose to dress myself up in British labels -  a multi-coloured sequined dress by Topshop to go with silver floral kitten heels by Irregular Choice. The palette chosen here is none other than to reflect the night and the shimmering wheels in the night.

Hardys Wines Debuts In Singapore

Established in 1853 by Thomas Hardy, Hardys has been recognised as "The Most Powerful Australian Wine Brand" with over 2 million glasses of Hardys wines enjoyed daily in over 70 countries. It was with great pleasure that I got to a wine tasting session and tried the 3 wines (Sir James Vintage Pinot Noir Chardonnay, WIlliam Hardy Shiraz and William Hardy Chardonnay) that they are debuting in Singapore.

The William Hardy range - William Hardy Shiraz and William Hardy Chardonnay was launched last year to recognize Bill Hardy's 40 years as a winemaker and brand ambassador with the business founded by his great-great grandfather, Thomas Hardy.

Out of the 2 wines, I preferred the Chardonnay. It had a tinge of sweet fruitiness in it and since I'm not a fan of spicy Shiraz, the Chardonnay was the better choice for me. The intense taste of white peach, stone fruit and lemon zest paired with the cheeses provided that night at the tasting, was the best combination to enjoy the fine wine.

 

That night, the highlight has got to be the Sir James Vintage Pinot Noir Chardonnay. It was cleared within minutes after opening. It was exceptionally fruity and sweet, like dessert wine with bubbles, filled with rich nuances of lychee, butter sauteed mushroom and lanolin, it comes highly recommended and it is one of the premium wines that make Hardys the biggest-selling wine brand in the United Kingdom.

The William Hardy Shiraz and William Hardy Chardonnay are available at Cold Storage and Jason's at SGD 37 a bottle, but the Sir James Vintage Pinot Noir Chardonnay is not available yet. So, I'll stick to my Chardonnay for now, whilst waiting for my Sir James. Wonder will it be in time for my B'dae celebration???
