JJ Lin To Make Special Appearance At Samsung Fashion Steps Out @ Orchard 2016

New season calls for more updates in the wardrobe and the annual Orchard Road affair - Samsung Fashion Steps Out @ Orchard 2016 [FSO 2016] will definitely be supplying lots of inspirations and shopping promotions during this 6-week extravaganza from 25 March – 8 May 2016.

First up, on 26 March, is the curtain raiser, featuring 130 models, the biggest outdoor fashion show will be curated by Singapore’s fashion doyen Daniel Boey.  Like the previous FSO editions, the stretch between Scotts Road and Bideford Road will be closed to vehicular traffic and transformed into Singapore’s longest fashion runway. This year's edition will wow audiences with a stellar of stars, an entourage of more than a

dozen personalities, influencers and artistes from Singapore and around the region to join us on the Orchard Fashion Runway.

Adding to the style factor are also 8 labels to look out for to cater for not only the men and ladies, but also for the young ones - FOX Kids & Baby; MASH-UP; Raffles Privato; RÊVASSEUR; Sean & Sheila; PHANTACi; Thomas Wee; and UNIQLO Lifewear. 

From which, PHANTACi, a label by Asian pop icon Jay Chou, makes its debut at the Orchard

Fashion Runway while Raffles Privato, Thomas Wee and UNIQLO Lifewear will be participating in this biggest outdoor fashion show for the first time.

And be sure to stay on the show as for the first time, shoppers will also be invited to party the night away after the runway show with ZOUK Singapore’s very own resident deejay, DJ Hong, in this outdoor after-party on Orchard Road! Woohoo!

Of course, surprises do not stop there! 

In conjunction with FSO 2016, presenter Samsung will be launching its latest Samsung Galaxy S7 4G+ and S7 edge 4G+ and they will even be capturing the show with their latest Samsung Gear 360 for that VR experience!

This year’s edition promises to wow visitors to Orchard Road with much to do, see and shop with a string of lifestyle activities and other than the fashion runway, there will also be fashion installations and exclusive MasterCard® shopping promotions planned for the annual festival, as Orchard Road’s famous shopping belt celebrates the Spring/Summer fashion season with local and international brands.

Knit in the City [15 Apr – 8 May] at Wisma Atria, Atrium at Basement 1

Check out craftist Adeline Loo’s quirky vision of a fantasy knitscape, featuring a fully knitted

giant backdrop, headpiece and train complete with giant needles. Visitors can also learn how to knit like a pro during the live knitting demonstrations held over three weekends.

[Digital Fashion Week 2014] Thomas Wee Brings The Opera To The Fashion Scene

It was <<Farewell My Concubine>> meets Wieqi (Chinese name for the classic board game) moment as Thomas Wee presented his beautiful and elegant collection at the Digital Fashion Week 2014.

Strongly influenced by the Chinese opera, his signature silhouettes of elegant works in silk are seen as he incorporates traditional Korean and Japanese kimonos with brillant cuts and tailoring. His designs are wearable, timeless and entirely unique, as seen on the models as well as Business Development Director of DFW Creative - Charina Widjaja.

The show began with Asia's Next Top Model finalist - Sofia Wakabayashi clad in silk organza top, culottes and a Japanese inspired belt, choreography for the show was as interesting as Thomas' outfits as the models walked back and forth, with an uncanny interaction, as though we were all watching a fashion opera.

What I loved is ability to create this soft beauty with just 2 tones, without any fancy theatrics, the models all stood in refined elegance. Just like this piece above, with just simple folds, what seemed like a pair of pants, is in fact a skirt, creating that amazing illusion as the model walked past us.

Totally understanding the female's anatomy, the free-standing collars, the big sweeping shawls and smart looking suits, totally shouts drama and poise, especially with the last few looks on Sofia Wakabayashi and America's Next Top Model winner - Jourdan Miller, you will definitely be turning hands with Thomas Wee's amazing craftmaking.

Though owning a piece from the atelier of Thomas Wee might be luxurious, but I bet from the pictures shown below, you know you are getting the best of best. You’ll need to make an appointment with Thomas himself, if you would like to get them.
