Back from AFA Creators Super Fest 2024 – My Heart is Still in Hall 3

Hi Huneybees,

Stepping back into reality after a whirlwind weekend at AFA Creators Super Fest 2024 feels like waking up from the most beautiful dream - one filled with otaku vibes, glittering cosplays, and pure community magic. As an anime fan and long-time event-goer, I can’t help but look back and smile at all the moments that made this year’s fest such a joy to return to. Here's my little love letter (or photo diary!) to this unforgettable homecoming.

Held at Singapore Expo Hall 3, AFA CSF returned for its second year, bigger and bolder with creators from across the region. And like every AFA event, it wasn’t just about merch or booths – it was about the heart. The passion. The unfiltered love for anime, games, and J-pop culture that brought all of us together under one roof.

And let me tell you, the cosplay energy? INSANE. Even before entering the hall, cosplayers were out in full glory at the photo zones set up just outside. The Singapore heat was brutal, but these amazing souls were unbothered, their wigs and makeup still flawless as they posed for fans and photographers alike. I was melting, they were sparkling!

The moment I stepped into the hall, I was greeted by the exhibition gallery of Japanese illustrator Wataboku. I’ve always been drawn to his surreal, hauntingly beautiful visuals – so atmospheric and emotionally raw. But to my surprise, the booth was eerily quiet… and that’s when I realised – all the exclusive memorabilia had already been snapped up early! 💔

One of my personal favourites this year? That epic Tamiya race track! I felt like a kid again just watching the tiny race cars whizz around. Some fans even brought their own “garage” of cars and parts  (Total dedication!). I lowkey wanted to pick up a set for myself!

Of course, the star power was strong too. One of the biggest draws was the chance to meet featured content creators and cosplayers from the region. Fans queued patiently (and excitedly!) at their booths to get autographs, buy photocards, posters, and even snap selfies with their faves. I spotted so many fans with adorable Ita bags, stuffed with treasures from the weekend haul.

The featured cosplayers at their booths didn’t just sign merch, they really connected with each visitor, taking time to chat and even pose for extra photos. I loved seeing fans bond while waiting; helping each other out with snapshots and geeking out together. That’s what I love about this scene: we all just get each other.

Ooofff... that sexual tension ~~~

One booth I had to stop at? The Love and Deepspace experience! The buzz was real – I followed the crowd and discovered Knite (from Australia!) cosplaying and interacting as one of the game characters. The fangirls were swooning, and yes… I ended up downloading the game the moment I got home. Been secretly playing when hubby’s not looking. Shhh...

Guest cosplayer Non made a special appearance at the AFA SHOP booth, and I was honestly stunned by the massive queue of fans lining up for her autograph and photo op! The love and support she got was incredible – it was like meeting a real-life anime idol!

Other highlights? That 360-degree Glambot-style video booth! If you came in cosplay, it was your moment to shine like a red carpet superstar. Around the show floor, local digital artists wowed us with their works, while booths overflowed with anime figurines, manga-themed merch, and collectibles – some especially curated for shojo fans (a.k.a. me).

Oh, and Zenitsu fans, this one’s for you – the Thunder Breathing king got his moment in the form of a super cool graffiti mural. Love for Demon Slayer is definitely still going strong.

The Akiba Stage was buzzing with energy – fans were singing their hearts out to anime hits and getting up close with their favourite cosplayers. But the real highlight for me? The live interaction with Vtuber Dokibird! She was absolutely adorable and so sweet, taking the time to answer every question from her fans with such charm. Total heart-melter moment! 💖

The highlight of Creator Fest for me? Hands down, getting to catch the talks and have real conversations with fellow content creators in the industry. There's something so energising about picking up new skills and geeking out together over our shared passions, right?

Every time I attend AFA, it feels like coming home. There's a sense of acceptance and freedom in the air. It doesn’t matter if you’re in full makeup or rocking an over-the-top outfit. No one judges,  instead, you get compliments and head nods of appreciation from strangers who feel like friends.

Until next time, AFA Creators Super Fest! Thank you for the memories, the inspiration, and the community love. See you at the next event, fam! 💖

Unforgettable Fun at AFA Creators Super Fest Singapore 2023!

Hi Huneybees,

I just returned from the inaugural AFA Creators Super Fest Singapore 2023 (#AFACSF23), and it was an exhilarating experience. Held at Singapore EXPO, the event brought together cosplayers from around the world and the biggest names in anime, comics, and games.

Unlike the annual AFA affair, this event felt more intimate, allowing fans to get up close and personal with the anime world. The Creators Lab panel was particularly rewarding, with industry professionals sharing tips and answering questions from creative enthusiasts.

Stepping into the grounds, LAM's works immediately caught my eye. The intricate details and vibrant colors, combined with dramatic perspectives, tell a story with just a single drawing. It's no wonder the booth attracted so many fans eager to get their hands on the merchandise.

The variety of fan art at the booths was fascinating, each artist showcasing their unique style. There were also plenty of self-created anime merch on sale, leaving my pockets feeling the burn.

The highlight, of course, was the cosplaying. Fans dressed up in incredible costumes, and there were professional cosplayer meet and greets offering fan service and merchandise. It was fun to see anime characters come to life and attract attention as we cruised through the event space. There's so many to capture and here's some of the beautiful creations...

Overall, I'm eagerly anticipating this year's AFA and next year's Creator Fest. It was a blast interacting with like-minded fans and catching up on the latest in the anime scene.
