Admiralty PAssionArts Festival

Admiralty: A Blooming Vase of Community Spirit

At Admiralty, residents are building a 3-metre-tall porcelain-inspired vase installation, decorated with handcrafted blooms made by the community itself. Guided by the Admiralty Community Arts and Culture Club volunteers, families can roll up their sleeves to craft flowers and add them to this striking centrepiece.

Beyond the vase, there’s plenty for all ages, from origami flower-making and henna art to DIY lanterns and colouring activities. It’s a celebration where art becomes a shared memory, reflecting the stories and spirit of the neighbourhood.

Kampong Glam PAssionArts Festival

Kampong Glam: Heritage Meets Creativity

Over at Kampong Glam, Zhongshan Park will be transformed into a bustling festival village. Here, tradition blends with modern creativity — think batik painting inspired by the Dragon Playground, tote bag painting with orchid motifs, and whimsical 3D cover books featuring chilli crab, satay, and ketupat.

The night will be filled with magic: solve lantern riddles, catch a face-changing performance, or listen to the enchanting retelling of Chang’e and Hou Yi’s timeless tale. Resident buskers will also bring heartwarming tunes to the celebration.

Dive Into Island Nights at Singapore Night Festival 2025 – A SG60 Celebration

Singapore Night Festival (SNF) returns from 22 August to 6 September 2025, and this year’s edition promises to be one of its most exciting yet. For the first time, the festival is helmed by HeritageSG, a subsidiary of the National Heritage Board, and it carries a special theme that could not be more fitting—Island Nights.

Timed with Singapore’s 60th year of independence, SNF 2025 is more than just dazzling lights and art—it’s a celebration of our island identity, our heritage of connections, and the vibrant communities that continue to shape our story. Over 80 immersive and innovative experiences will light up the Bras Basah.Bugis (BBB) precinct, transforming the district into a playground of art, culture, and imagination.

A Festival Rooted in Heritage

Surrounded by waters that have long connected us to trade, migration, and cultural exchange, Singapore has always been an island of stories. SNF 2025 takes these narratives and reimagines them in new and meaningful ways. Expect the familiar favourites like projection mapping across historic landmarks, Night Lights installations, and bustling festival villages, but also fresh experiences that encourage reflection on what it means to be an island city.

This year, SNF also strengthens its role as a hub for creative exchange. Alongside the festivities, you’ll find initiatives such as The Listening Biennial and the ALIGHT (A Southeast Asian Light Network) Conference, where artists, communities, and festival-goers come together to share ideas and spark collaborations.

Highlights to Look Forward To

Among the many installations and experiences, a few standout works are already creating buzz.

At Capitol Singapore, artist duo Yok and Sheryo present Kampong Chill, a bamboo pavilion that invites festival-goers to slow down and embrace rest as a form of resistance against hectic modern life. It’s a tranquil oasis designed for reflection, accompanied by workshops inspired by island living.

For something more playful, head to Cathay Green where Sky Castle by Australian studio ENESS turns giant inflatable arches into a rainbow pathway of colour and sound. Each step you take sets off musical notes and shifting hues, creating a symphony of light and joy. Do note that entry to this installation requires a $5 ticket via Klook.

At Plaza Singapura, the legend of Singapura Dilanggar Todak is reborn in a cyberpunk twist with Cyberswordfish V2.0. Built from e-waste such as cracked screens and salvaged wires, the sculpture is both a striking art piece and a reminder of the environmental costs of modern technology.

On Armenian Street, luminous crab sculptures bring Jiwa Laut to life, inspired by Southeast Asian folklore and coastal traditions. The glowing artworks mimic the gentle rhythm of boats along a shoreline, connecting city life back to the sea.

And of course, no Singapore Night Festival is complete without its breathtaking projection mapping. This year, the National Museum of Singapore will be illuminated by MOSAIC, a work by French artist Jérémie Bellot, blending constellations, cartographies, and motifs of kebaya and batik to mark 60 years of Singapore-France relations. 

Over at CHIJMES, four local female artists—Adeline Kueh, HAFI, KangLi, and Tororo.aoi—will transform the historic façade with their own interpretations, the result of SNF’s Projection Mapping Masterclass.

Beyond the Light Installations

The festival isn’t just about visual spectacle. Expect roving LED performances by Starlight Alchemy, puppet theatre from Ombak Potehi, a community singalong of Xinyao and folk music, and even a puppetry adaptation of a classic novel by Paper Monkey Theatre.

Festival villages will also be buzzing throughout the three weekends. Paradise Island at Armenian Street and Retro District at Bugis Street Art Lane promise food, music, and shopping in unique settings, while SMU Arts Fest: 2560 returns at Campus Green to showcase the talents of local students.

Celebrating SG60 Under the Stars

SNF 2025 also connects with the nation’s SG60 celebrations through special National Day activations. From 1 August, monuments and hidden corners of the BBB precinct will be transformed into experiential zones under the theme Celebrating Our Island. These activations highlight Singapore’s heritage of food, flora, fauna, and culture, with a spotlight on the historic Sungei Beras Bassa, once home to nutmeg plantations.

[SG60 Special] Gardens by the Bay Lights Up SG60 with Fireflies, Flowers & Free Concerts

Last night was pure magic at Gardens by the Bay as they officially kicked off their SG60 celebrations with "SPARK", a mesmerising firefly-inspired light installation, and the return of the much-loved "Orchid Extravaganza" at Flower Dome!

And yes, I made it just in time to catch "SPARK" in action under the stars. Thousands of glowing, biodegradable light sparks rise and fall gently in the tropical air, like fireflies dancing in slow motion. It felt like I had stepped into a dreamy Studio Ghibli scene!

This is the first time "SPARK" has landed in Southeast Asia, and it's here for only four nights (until 3 August 2025!) at Supertree Grove Lawn. The installation is the brainchild of Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde and supported by GIC, the Tote Board, and the Embassy of the Netherlands, which also celebrates 60 years of diplomatic ties with Singapore this year. What a beautiful double celebration!

Each floating spark is a poetic reimagination of fireworks, but gentler and more sustainable. The kids around me were absolutely enchanted as they tried to “catch” them mid-air, and I had a blast experimenting with light photography. If you’re planning a romantic night out or a family date, this is one experience not to miss before the weekend ends.

Orchid Extravaganza 2025（兰花盛事）

Over at the Flower Dome, "Orchid Extravaganza" is back with over 6,000 stunning orchids in full bloom! This year’s theme proudly celebrates our local heritage, with floral displays that weave in everything from Singapore's national flower, Vanda Miss Joaquim, to uniquely named hybrids like Papilionanda Chua Chu Kang and Vanda KK Women's and Children's Hospital.

What stole the show? Three towering orchid-clad Supertrees right inside the dome where you can walk right into the tallest one for an immersive orchid wonderland experience! There’s also a beautiful tribute to Peranakan culture, complete with floral recreations of traditional interiors inspired by the iconic play "Emily of Emerald Hill". Cultural Medallion recipient Mr Lee Hock Moh’s intricate orchid paintings are also on display, including his SG60 piece "Dancing Petals, Joyful Laughter" (飞跃花丛送欢声), featuring six parrots symbolising six decades of Singapore’s unity and success.

Add to that stunning gold-plated orchid brooches by RISIS, authentic kebayas and beaded slippers from Rumah Kim Choo, and historical artefacts from the Peranakan Museum, and you have the perfect weekend plan for culture lovers!

In celebration of SG60, you also get to enjoy a complimentary all-access adult ticket to the Peranakan Museum with each Flower Dome ticket, Friends of the Gardens e-card, or SG60 Wonder Blooms pass.

What Else is Happening This August? 

The SG60 vibes don’t stop here. Gardens by the Bay has lined up more free events in August to keep the celebrations going:

National Day Concert – Ties That Bloom

📍The Meadow | 3 August 2025 | 4.30pm fringe activities, 7.30pm concert

Celebrate our Singaporean spirit with performances by Kit Chan, Taufik Batisah, Hady Mirza and Charlie Lim. Adding a special touch to the evening are performances by local family duos: JJ Neo and her mother Lucy Neo; Rahimah Rahim, her sister Rozie Rahim and granddaughter Alyaa; siblings Tay Kewei and Tay Kexin; and husband-and-wife duo Mark Sara and Annetha Ayyavoo! 

The Purple Symphony (TPS) – Singapore’s largest inclusive orchestra of musicians with and without disabilities – will also bring audiences a heartfelt medley of familiar local tunes, blending Eastern and Western instruments in a moving tribute to Singapore’s 60th birthday. 
So, don’t forget your picnic mats!

NDP 2025 Bay Celebrations

Catch a live telecast of the National Day Parade right at Gardens by the Bay, with live performances happening on-site too. This is the first time the Marina Bay area is an official satellite site for the NDP, and Gardens by the Bay is the perfect place if you want to soak up the patriotic vibes without the crowds at the Padang!
