Burger King's Gourmeji Swiss Burgers Are Bursting With Unami With Every Bite

Hi Huneybees,

King & Queen fanatics of BURGER KING® rejoice! Their iconic Mushroom Swiss Burgers have been given a new upgrade and with a new guest appearance of  premium Japanese Shimeji Mushrooms, the burgers taste amazeballs!!!!

Mushroom Swiss Burgers are the only thing I have whenever I'm at a BURGER KING® restaurant and this gourmet version - Gourmeji Mushroom Swiss (Yup! A play with words there ~) is now my go-to whenever I hit a branch. The chunks of sautéed black pepper Shimeji mushrooms add a new 'crunch' bite and it pairs very well with the flame grilled patty.

Beef

Completing the burger will be melted Swiss cheese, Batavian lettuce, caramelised onions, BK’s original mushroom sauce and your choice of flame-grilled patty – either the WHOPPER® beef  or the Tendergrill Chicken thigh, all sandwiched in a lightly toasted sesame seed bun.

Or Chicken?

I am normally a WHOPPER® beef patty lover but you have got to try the Tendergrill premium Chicken version! The juicy meat patty gave the whole burger a sweet lingering taste after ever bite and for someone who's not so into peppers, this is the one!

Well, I have a BFF who's not so into mushrooms, but I think I might just entice her and you guys with some unknown facts...

Shimeji mushrooms were chosen because they are rich in 'unami' - a 5th taste other than the usual 4 that we are familiar with, which also adds lively, firm texture with a gentle nuttiness in the cooking.

So what is unami? It is a rounded, rich and savory taste and is definitely every chefs' target taste when making a dish. Some other unami examples would include soy sauce, miso paste, cured ham, tomatoes as well as my favourite CHEESE!

Other than that, mushrooms generally make great low calorie source of fiber and unsaturated fatty acids. And for those beauty conscious people out there, they are also rich in selenium, anti-oxidants as well as Vitamin D that will help protect your skin and reduce acne!

OK! Facts aside, there's also another interesting addition to the Burger King menu. Say hi to the Creamy Tomato Rock It Fries!

The magic lies in this amazing pack of tomato flavoured powder which you sprinkle all over your fries in the bag, give it a good shake or give a rock band style head banging (erm, fries banging?), to get the powder evenly spread into the fries and you are ready to dig in!

Don't the fries look as though they have been given some pink fairy dust?! Well, it reminds me of tomato flavoured Twisties snacks, I can't stop eating one after another. Though the taste might not be something you have tried on fries before but I also can't forget how much it reminds me of Shaker Fries, which a certain golden arch fast food chain carries.

It's definitely worth a try before it's gone, but I still prefer to go to Burger King for my Onion Rings to go with my burgers just for that differentiating factor between different fast food restaurants. Hehehe.. What do you think?

We had a first tour around the kitchen and saw that our patties were definitely flame grilled like what BK guaranteed. It's also good to know that they are very conscious about freshness and hygiene when it comes to preparing our food. 

The staff sanitizes their hands every hour and the patties are immediately put onto the flame grills after taking out from the fridge. If the patties were not cooked under the right temperature, the whole batch goes 'sayonara', straight into the bins! What's more is that they only take no more than 30 secs to wrap up your burgers right after the patties are cooked to protect the burger's served to you fresh!

Remember to get FREE Egg McMuffin on 9th March

Good news, Free meal! 
McDonarld's National Breakfast Day for Singapore is back for the second time and we all can get a FREE Egg McMuffin at participating McDonald's outlets from 6am until 11am on 9th March 2015.

All you need to do is to collect a valid original coupon, which will be handed out by McDonald's staff standing outside each participating outlets, and redeem it upon presentation at the counter! 
No song, no riddle, just a valid original coupon, that simple!
However, do note that only one redemption per coupon per customer is allowed.

Unfortunately for our Huneybees working or living at Changi Airport T2 Transit, Clementi Avenue 3, KK Hospital, Lido, Lucky Chinatown, Singapore Science Centre and Tampines Interchange Kiosk, McDonald's don't love you as much, hence NO FREE Egg McMuffin promotion.

Well, McD have been keeping a secret about this launch and only this morning did they send a blast out about the LINE plush toys, though I have already introduced them to you yesterday (http://huneyzworld.blogspot.sg/2015/01/get-your-line-x-mcdonalds-plush-toys.html), here's more information for you, as well as bios of the LINE characters!! :P

SO ADORABLE RIGHT?! Well, if you are too busy to head down to McDonalds or craving for something else to eat, here's other options to explore and allow you to own these cute little friends at your convenience.

With easy clicking of buttons, you can buy these plushies from McDonald's online purchasing system. It is a one-stop option to purchase the complete sets and have them delivered right to your doorsteps. 

The McDonald's X LINE Plush Collectibles Set, comprising the five McDonald's X LINE Plush Collectibles (Cony, Sally, Brown, Moon and Leonard) is now available for online purchase at https://onlinestore.mcdonalds.com.sg/. The set will also be packaged together with five Extra Value Meal food vouchers valued at $5 each, and will cost a total of $70 to purchase, inclusive of delivery.

To make things even more convenient for customers, McDonald's has partnered with SingPost as their delivery partner. You can either have the sets delivered right to your doorstep via Speedpost delivery or through the new SingPost POPStations, allowing 24/7 self-collection. Each customer will be limited to three sets per transaction, available while stocks last.

Well, for those who have gone down to McDonald's for the plush toys, but might have bought too much meals, you can also do your bit for charity. Together with a Singapore-based volunteer welfare organisation, Compassion Fund Ltd, McDonald's allow customers to donate their meals to needy students. These students are from low-income families facing crisis due to the sudden death, critical illness or major accident of the family's breadwinner.

So, if you wish to donate your meals, simply inform McDonald's counter crew when placing your order. Donated meals will be valued at $5 each and will be distributed to the beneficiaries of Compassion Fund in the form of McDonald's meal vouchers at the end of the promotion.

Have you been enjoying the McDonald's All Day Breakfast? Though the promotion might have ended, but LINE fans, you are in for a treat! Starting tomorrow 5 January 2015, 11am, McDonald's will be launching their all new collectibles - LINE plush toys!

Say hi to Cony, Brown, Moon, Sally and Leonard as each of them pops up every Monday at 11am for 5 weeks. I'm a huge fan of Moon and I will definitely be bringing one home, but should I get the whole set? They are simply too adorable!!!!

Have More Hotcakes With McDonald's All Day Breakfast

Hi Huneybees,

If you are like me and have been partying the night away celebrating the coming of 2015, going to bed so late and have missed the McDonald's breakfast, wake up now! They are serving their piping hot breakfasts till 5pm!

From 1 - 4 January 2015, you can enjoy the McDonald's All Day Breakfast menu from 11am - 5pm. Yay! To more Hotncakes and I can sleep a little longer for 4 more days! LOL!

Well, hubby's favourite is the Breakfast Deluxe and our ultimate favourite is the Hashbrown! So for these few days, we can have pancakes and hashbrown for high tea, with a cuppa of hot coffee. So bring your friends and families down for a great bonding time, whilst celebrating 2015 ~~

Hehehehe... You can even plan a slumber party too! See what we did the other day at the McDonald's Pyjama Party! We all dressed in our PJs and had breakfast in bed, plan some matching accessories and a photo booth with face painting and glitter tattoo, you will definitely have a ball of a time!!!
