adidas Originals By Mary Katrantzou Collection Out In Singapore Today!

Hi Huneybees,

It's finally here in Singapore! The long awaited adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou collection will be available for purchase starting today 15th November!

Hailed as the “Queen of Prints” and one of fashion’s most innovative designers, Mary Katrantzou's special collection with adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou collection sees bold, subversive graphics with architectural shapes. In this special collaboration, Katrantzou draws inspiration from past adidas shoe silhouettes and she has innovatively incorporated product features like outsoles, laces, and pop icons into her own unique collection.

“When adidas first approached me, I took time to think about what I could offer that’s different, what I could say through the collection that they haven’t said before. I grew up, like so many other kids around the world, wearing adidas sneakers, and bringing my vision to such a global brand is a great challenge. They have a fantastic heritage and their ability to innovate in sportswear makes them the perfect partner for us to work with in this market. I believe that print and color can come together to communicate perfectly to a wider audience.”  --- Mary Katrantzou

adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou retails for SGD129 for the logo tee to SGD699 for the Decat Dress. The collection is available in stores from 15 November 2014 at the adidas Originals store at Pacific Plaza and online at shop.adidas.com.sg. Footwear from the collection will be available at the Limited Edition store at Marina Bay Sands. Be sure to shop early or you might be disappointed! :)

Samsung Fashion Steps Out 2013 Is Coming This 4th May

Hi Huneybees,

Samsung Fashion Steps Out 2013 is back for its 4th installment and this time, it's presented by Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) and Samsung is the Presenting Sponsor. Happening on 4th May 2013, FSO 2013 will be putting the spotlight on the chic and en vogue with an exciting line-up of fashion shows, pop-up stores and exclusive MasterCard® shopping promotions.

For the first time in FSO’s history, Samsung is the Presenting Sponsor and will headline 2013’s biggest fashion event of the year with the much-anticipated launch of the Samsung GALAXY S 4 LTE.

FSO is an annual highlight organised by Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) and aimed at bringing fashion to the man on the street. This year, ORBA is pleased to have Samsung on board as the Presenting Sponsor of this iconic fashion extravaganza – Samsung Fashion Steps Out 2013 – on the Great Street.

This year, the precinct is clothed in floral finery as it literally puts on colours from the Spring / Summer 2013 runway palette. Selected trees on both sides of the shopping boulevard are dressed in vivid hues and effervescent prints – all created with the help of Samsung Note 10.1 LTE by budding designers from Raffles Design Institute (RDI).

'

The prints were all inspired by flowers and nature. Truly brightening for the trees along Orchard Road.

On 28th March, I was treated to a preview of what to expect for FSO 2013 and all I can say is I can't wait and seriously, colours are a must if you are attending this big yearly event.

We had a live demonstration of the FSO 2013 t-shirt customization by local designer Ash Lee. We kinda had a lesson in DIY T-shirt conversion, so that we could customise the T-shirts that we were given and wear them on 4th May.

We were then ushered outside to the foyer for some light refreshments alongside the live band's performance and not before long, the models strut down Orchard Road from Ngee Ann City, across the road. They were all decked in the FSO 2013 T-shirts that were fully customized and gave inspiration to us....

Afterwhich, it was time for some fashion show whilst we enjoyed our Magnum Ice Creams...

There were 2 fashion shows featuring the latest Spring Summer looks by Etro and Pois' presentation of Mary Katrantzou and Manish Arora. Some pieces were very eye catching and I heard so many ladie ssaying that they will wear them!

Orchard Fashion Runway (4 May)
The highlight of Samsung FSO 2013, the Orchard Fashion Runway will transform the street into a glamorous fashion runway, showcasing the latest Spring / Summer offerings of local and international brands and the highly anticipated new Samsung GALAXY S 4 LTE.

Orchard Road, stretching from Scotts / Paterson junction to Bideford junction, will be closed to traffic on this one day, where about 150 models will take to the streets in the couture of the season from Fausto Puglisi, Victoria Beckham,  Coach, J.Press, Marks & Spencer, Robinsons, Adolfo Dominguez and Maria Grachvogel, styled by Official Make-up Shiseido and Official Hair Shiseido Professional. During this period, Orchard Road malls will still be open for business and will remain accessible to traffic via Paterson Road, Orchard Link and Bideford Road.
Members of the public are welcome to attend this once-a-year fashion extravaganza in alfresco style at 8:30pm.

Launch of Orchard Road mobile app
In conjunction with FSO 2013, the first-ever Orchard Road mobile app “@Orchard” will be launched and made available for download from 28 Mar onwards. Free for both Andriod and iOS users, this app will help shoppers navigate around the street and provide a listing of Orchard Road stores, the latest promotions and newest events. In line with the season, the app will also feature exclusive video interviews with international and local brands on their trendiest Spring / Summer 2013 collection. Progressively, users will also find up-to-date information on the availability of carpark lots, as well as traffic conditions on Orchard Road.

Fashion Steps Out 2013 on Clozette (8 Apr – 10 May)
Clozette has been appointed the Official Fashion Social Network for FSO 2013 and will be hosting a series of social engagement activities throughout the festival. Look forward to live coverage of key events, an Instagram photo contest and a fun-filled fashion memory game with $6,000 worth of shopping vouchers to be won. All these are happening at www.clozette.co/fashionstepsout

Here's more details on the Fringe Events and Activities happening along Orchard Road for the weeks to come...

Fashion Pops (12 – 21 April) @ Mandarin Gallery
Whoever says fashion is merely a reflection of what comes off the runways during fashion week should definitely pay the Fashion Pops a visit. Featuring vibrant booths carrying exclusive buys for the season and a celebrity cover exhibit by Harper’s BAZAAR, Fashion Pops will offer an endless array of fun and excitement any shopaholic would be delighted to get lost in.

SWAROVSKI Design Exhibition

Hi Huneybees,

I bet you love your blings don't you? I know I do and I was delighted to be invited to the private design exhibition held by Swarovski recently. It was held to showcase its collaborations in the worlds of fashion, jewelry, film, music, theatre, dance, art, architecture, and design, many shown for the first time in Singapore.

Swarovski is definitely a brand widely known and its amazing to see the wonders of these precious crystals reflecting light and how versatile they can be.

Arriving at the event, I was already falling in love with these bling-ed up blinds...
Let's take a look at the architecture aspect? I really love how they reflect light and create these optical light reflection as the light bounces of surfaces. Definitely statement pieces for the house...

Eternal Stools by Tokujin Yoshioka
Light Sock by DillerScofidio+Renfro
Glitterbox Floorlamp by Georg Baldele
Tulsa 2 by Michael Anastassiades
Ice Branch by Tord Boontje
Leading further in was non other than the fashion pieces. Be it as head pieces or on dresses, it's definitely a head turner if you really do don on any of the pieces.

Here you can see the pieces on the runway. Designers include Mary Katrantzou, Yiqing Yin, Hussein Chalayan, etc...

Also featured are three forward-thinking creations by third year Fashion Design and Textiles BA (Hons) students at the LASALLE College of the Arts.

The students were given the opportunity to explore and experiment with the vast range of Swarovski crystal elements available for fashion application before submitting their designs. Their three creations – CyberBody, Femme Fatale and Shadows will be another debut at the exhibition.

The designer of Shadows even made her own SWAROVSKI necklace!
“Young Asian designers are becoming bolder and have the potential to influence global fashion trends; the backing of a brand like Swarovski with a long history is invaluable to their growth as designers. Swarovski’s infinite permutations of crystal cuts and colours allow our students to use crystals in new and innovative ways”  --- Lionel Roudaut, Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles.

The exhibition also introduced the Atelier Swarovski SS13 collection. Atelier Swarovski creates the ultimate luxury fashion accessories line by collaborating with the world’s leading designers to inspire product innovations with crystals.

Me wearing the Nicholas Kirkwood necklace. It's so simple yet elegant!

And the collection presented at the exhibition includes pieces by shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood, acclaimed fashion designers Vanessa Seward and Christopher Kane, jewelry and product designer Stefano Poletti and a collection in honour of Diana Vreeland.

Known as the 20th Century’s greatest arbiter of style, Diana Vreeland’s love of colour, form and style emanates through her Legacy collection, which is being showcased for the first time in Singapore, consisting of bold resin cuffs and rings, a crystal gilet, and luxurious necklaces that fall like crystal rain.

Last but not least, we also got to see how Swarovski has illuminated the Hollywood movie scene, supplying tons and tons of "bling" to the movies that we watch...

OMG! I loved this headphones! It goes well with everything!

When Huney and Jen Su sees the crowns and scepter, we couldn't stop camwhoring!

This year has seen a deepening of Swarovski’s involvement in the arts and culture on a global level, with the launch of a dedicated cultural sponsorship program, including John Pawson’s luminous site-specific artwork ‘Perspectives’ at St Paul’s Cathedral; illuminating the Château de Versailles with high-tech chandeliers; collaborating with Christian Lacroix at the Paris Opera; and a Founding Partnership with the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.

The opening in London of ‘Digital Crystal: Swarovski at the Design Museum’ in September challenged some of the most exciting talents in contemporary design to explore the future of memory in the fast-developing digital age.

Swarovski’s Design Exhibition is a testament to the 10 million SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS that are used each year, highlighting the mastery of precision to a partner across industries. The exhibition also pays tribute to the successful partnership between Swarovski’s global initiative – the Waterschool project. The project aims to educate children on one of the most precious and increasingly scarce global resources, and an integral part of producing iconic Swarovski crystals.

Thank you SWAROVSKI for the wonderful night!
