New Eco-Friendly Laptop Sleeve By LenovoPro, Microsoft and Bynd Artisan

Hi Huneybees,

Time to give your laptop a new look? Check out the new limited edition laptop sleeve by Lenovo Singapore and Bynd Artisan. Made entirely from sustainable, eco-friendly vegan leather; this collaboration with Bynd Artisan not only reflects Lenovo's continued commitment to its Climate Change Mitigation Goals for 2025 but also perfectly aligns with Bynd Artisan's ethos of creating perfect leather gifts and features the signature craftsmanship of the 70-year-old, Singapore-founded brand.

Stylish and versatile, the sleeve is designed with the lifestyle of a modern businessperson in mind. It features slim pockets (embossed with LenovoPro and Microsoft logos) that hold items essential to the professional on the go, like mobile phones and business cards; serving as the perfect complement to Think laptop users, who appreciate fine craftsmanship, reliability, and sleek aesthetics.

The LenovoPro and Bynd Artisan laptop sleeve is built to protect Lenovo's ThinkPad and ThinkBook laptops and features:

• Belly band: Made from recycled food pulp paper, these distinctive and vivid papers are made from organic food by-products such as citrus fruits, coffee, hazelnuts, and corn, which would have been otherwise left as an industrial residue in landfills. Incorporating these natural raw materials into the paper has effectively replaced up to 15 percent of virgin tree pulp normally required for paper making.
• Vegan leather: Produced using process-controlled machines and eco-friendly methods, vegan leather is a great animal-friendly alternative to genuine leather. It offers the same supple touch and appearance of leather without the high carbon footprint, typically a result of the gallons of water required to process natural leather.
• Felt: Produced from acrylic threads largely attained from post-consumer plastic, the felt material is highly durable with many layers interlocked in its construction. Although lightweight, it is highly water-resistant and provides great layered protection. Ultimately, the felt scraps and fibers can be further broken down and recycled towards the end of their lifecycle.

The online exclusive laptop sleeve (worth S$158.00) is limited to the first 800 purchases and can only be redeemed with any THINK laptop purchased via the LenovoPRO site from 18 July 2022. Sign up for a free LenovoPRO account now and enjoy a 10 percent welcome discount.

VAIO Is Back But Can It Survive The Ever Competitve PC Market?

Hi Huneybees,

Yes, you read it right, VAIO has resurfaced back in the Personal Computing (PC) business after it was sold by SONY to a private equity group back in 2014!

After four (4) years of abyss, VAIO has unveiled the premium VAIO S Series - S11 and S13 - to some great Japanese fare on the 16th of August at Keyaki in Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore.

To distinguish itself from an even more competitive PC market four years ago, the new series of VAIO laptops incorporates the latest i5/i7 8th Generation Intel core processors to its sleek hexagonal design and light wright materials to ensure robustness, durability and weight reduction.

VAIO S13 features a thicker cooling vent with higher heat dispersing capability to ensure stable and high operation capacity

Credit to its Japanese-made craftsmanship and adaptation of magnesium alloy for VAIO S13 and carbon fibre for VAIO S11, both laptops are just 5mm thin at their slimmest point and weighs at only 1.07kg and 0.85kg respectively.

Have a peace of mind with the all new VAIO S Series laptops as access can be programmed via the integrated fingerprint reader!

Other innovations for the VAIO S series include an intuitive fingerprint reader for more convenience but secure access and an anti-spill keyboard that has had underwent stringent drink spill tests of up to 150ml!

Say goodbyes to adaptors as all new VAIO S Series laptops have all the necessary ports built-in for business focused users

Overall VAIO S Series, powered by the latest Microsoft Windows 10 OS, has what it takes to impress any casual or business user who is shopping for a all-purpose laptop. Designed for portability while packed with all the latest technical specification such as Full HD LCD display, 256GB/512GB SSD, a 8th Generation Intel core processor, 1Mp webcam, a SD card reader and even a VGA port on top of HDMI and 3x USB 3.0 ports, the VAIO S Series is more than capable for video-streaming, web-surfacing, ppt presentation and working on other office productivity software.

Nevertheless, I wasn't impressed with VAIO S Series. While the Business PC is a huge market, it is also known as a cut-throat market where pricing is a major consideration on top of availability and technical support. Unfortunately, the new VAIO S Series look "over spec" for general usage but "less sexy" and/or "less flexible" compared to those ultra-mobile PCs such as Microsoft Surface Pro or Apple MacBook Air.

Ironically, it was VAIO that first created a disruption to the PC market with its first ultra-mobile PC under the U series back in 2004 and followed by the more iconic UX series in 2006. Let's hope it has plans in the coming months to repeat the feat, but until then, sorry to VAIO S series.

My First Impression After Returning From The PC Show 2017

Hi Huneybees,

Singapore’s longest running annual consumer technology and electronics fair, The PC Show, returns at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, starting from today until end of this weekend!

To bring people back to the fair this year, the organizer has introduced #Techgether as a theme to get visitors together to enjoy and experience new technology products while shopping for bargain. The Amazing Tech Hunt is one such initiative that get visitors to follow a set of clues from a yellow card that can be collected at the lucky draw booth outside Hall B to the latest products and bargains as well as a chance to win a 1-night staycation at the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel.
There are also special zones set up at this year's fair for gamers at the GG Gaming Zone and Know Your Tech no-sales zone for exhibitors such as Creative to showcase their latest technology and hottest products to visitors.

For Huneybees who are looking to find good buy in gaming or video rendering laptop, here are some recommended deals that I have uncovered at The PC Show today! Do note the prices listed below are accurate as of 1st June 2017:

HP OMEN Notebook 15-ax213TX $1719 @ HP Booth

i7-7700HQ, 8GB DDR4 SRAM, 512GB PCIe SSD, NVIDIA GeForce 1050Ti Graphics, 15.6" IPS FHD display

ASUS FX553VD-DM462T $1399 CASH @ Gamepro Shop Booth

i7-7700HQ, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce 1050 2GB Graphics, 15.6" FHD display

ACER VN7-592G-7633 $1498 @ Newstead Booth

i7-6700HQ, 8GB DDR4 SRAM, 256GB SATA SSD + 1TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 960 Graphics, 15.6" IPS FHD display

ACER VN7-593G $2098 @ Newstead Booth

i7-7700HQ, 16GB DDR4 SRAM, 256GB SATA SSD + 1TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 1060 Graphics, 15.6" IPS FHD display

ALIENWARE 17 AW17R4-770816G-GTX1060 $2750 @ Newstead Booth

i7-7700HQ, 8GB DDR4 2667 SRAM, 128B SSD + 1TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 1060 Graphics, 17.3" IPS FHD display

AFTERSHOCK PRIME-15 $2272 @ Aftershock Booth

i7-7700HQ, 16GB DDR4 SRAM, 500GB SATA SSD, NVIDIA GeForce 1060 Graphics, 15.6" IPS FHD display

Overall while credit must be given to the organizer for trying to keep the PC Show exciting after 26 years with "refreshing" ideas like Amazing Tech Hunt, I left the fair feeling disappointed.

For one, uniqueness of the fair is fast fading as the products and their suggested selling prices are identical to the competing fair running concurrently at Suntec City Convention Center.

3D printers are available from $699 at The PC Show at Newstead Booth

Check out the XYZ Robot customizable for service/F&B industry at Newstead Booth

Also, apart from Newstead showcasing 3D printers and Service Robots at the fair, all other major retailers are practically selling the same models of laptop and PC in the same space and that's boring!... less Aftershock and HP, which own their own booths.

Last but not least, the traditional software and peripheral brands are visibly missing at a "PC" Show and what replaces them are credit cards and insurance companies that doesn't seem to fit this year's theme of #Techgether.

Shop and Win at The PC Show 2017

Nevertheless, do prepare for the expect human jam come this weekend at The PC Show. The opening hours are from 12 noon to 9 pm, Thursday to Sunday, 1 – 4 June.
More information about  The PC Show  can be found at www.thepcshow.com.sg/

Have a great bargaining weekend ahead!
