[Tried & Tested] Le Mini Macaron Gel Nail Kit

Hi Huneybees,

When in France, enjoying a few delectable desserts are inevitable. Most popular being the widely loved, rainbow coloured macarons. It's my little sweet escapade whenever I'm in need of one, but today, I'm not talking about food. Rather I'm introducing you to something macaron related.

It's the Le Mini Macaron gel nail kit, where you can get gel manicure nails right in the comfort of your homes. It started as a kickstarter project and I found them selling these super adorable kits in Marseilles' Sephora stores.

It's so small you can easily have it in your pocket, bring it with you when you are travelling and it's a major money saver compared to those korean DIY gel nail kits sold in stores. You simply need 5 simple steps, foregoing the base coat, top coat and cleansing wipes, you save so many steps and money!

In box set, you get an instructions manual, nail file, cuticle pusher, 10 removal pads, a macaron shaped LED light with USB charger and a soak off gel polish that matches your macaron. I picked the sweetest colour available - Strawberry Pink as I wanted my fingers to be delicious????

Let's take a closer look at the highlight - the macaron LED Light! It's tiny, you can easily bring it anywhere with you and can be powered up with your laptop or your handphone charger.

They are both held together by magnets and if you want to paint your toes, you can easily flip the top over and cure your toe nails too!

The topside has a LED bulb and the bottom side has a concave slot for you to slot your finger in. Each time you activate the light, allows you to cure your nails for 30 seconds and the fact that you can only cure 1 finger a time, can also mean a tedious process.

So, the process if really easy, you simply use the cuticle pusher to softly push the excess cuticle in, rthen use the file to shape your nails as well as to file the surface of your nail to allow the gel polish to 'stick' better to your nails and make the manicure last longer.

*Note: be sure not to over file the surface as that will make you nails weak, just a slight brush over will do.

Next step is onto the gel nail polish. Be sure to circle the brush several times inside the bottle to remove most of the polish. What you want is a VERY thin coat of nail polish to apply on your nails.

Each coat of polish should be this thin, if it's too thick, it will not dry completely, might chip easily or might feel too hot when you are curing. For me, I prefer the colour to be fully opaque, and that would require 4 coats.

So, working out the time needed - 30 seconds each coat  X 4 coats X 10 fingers = 1200seconds / 20 minutes in total!

No base coat or top coat is required, there is no sticky feeling after and I like how much time I've saved! This set of manicure lasted me for around 2 weeks, before it starts peeling off like a plastic peel off layer, but it doesn't seem to have hurt my nail bed.

Or alternatively, when you’re ready to try another color, you can use the remover wipes enclosed to wrap around your fingers and let soak to take the polish off.

They have more colours online and I'm intending to get more, maybe then I can get 1 colour of macaron light per finger? What you think? Hehehehe....

Each gel kit retails for $35, 10ml polishes are $15 and they also have remover kits for $12.50 for 100 remover pads.

And follow along on social media for future info and swatches!

This is just part of my haul from Paris/Germany.
Stay tuned for more updates! :)

Régilait Milk Is Now Available In Singapore

Hi Huneybees,

While others need a coffee fix a day, mine is a milk fix. I always start my day with a glass of milk and on nights when I can't sleep, a nice warm glass of milk helps too! Yup I love my dairy products and not just coz it taste good, there's tons of benefits too!
Brimming with vitamins and minerals such as calcium, milk is regarded as one of the most nutrient-dense foods. It is known to strengthen bones and prevents osteoporosis. Teenagers and elderly folks have the highest calcium requirements so they need to drink about 3 cups of milk daily. Milk can help maintain healthy teeth, reduce high blood pressure, lower risk of diabetes and improve skin’s health. It also lowers the risk of both colon and breast cancer.
If you are fan of milk, let me introduce you to Régilait, a lauded and beloved purveyor of high-quality instant granulated milk powder. It has been around since 1947 and they have now makde their way into Singapore market and already awarded the Healthier Choice and Halal certifications!

As Régilait is a French dairy cooperative, it controls the entire chain of milk production - from procurement at farms to manufacturing of the final products, offering full traceability. Their milk are 100% real pure cow’s milk, with no fillers added, no maltodextrins and really rich in proteins and all of the nutritional qualities are preserved via their gentle manufacturing process. Their milk is suitable for consumption by everyone from ages 3 and up.

Régilait is available in 4 choices to suit your daily nutritional needs:

Régilait CALORIE REDUCED, your partner for slimming
This milk is fat-free and allows controlled calorie intake to help you maintain your weight. For diabetics or consumers with high cholesterol, the Régilait CALORIE REDUCED helps to restore a balanced diet. One glass of Régilait Calorie Reduced contains only 89 kcal!

Régilait CALCIUM PLUS, your partner for strong bones
Régilait CALCIUM PLUS imbues drinkers with the benefits of calcium and vitamin D. Containing an optimal composition of calcium, proteins, vitamin D and phosphorus, calcium is easily absorbed and becomes well fixed in the bone when consumed. Drink two glasses of the fat-free Régilait CALCIUM PLUS to meet your daily calcium needs.

Régilait MULTI-VITAMINS, your partner for vitality
Get the boost you need with the fat-free Régilait MULTI-VITAMINS. It contains eight vitamins: A, D3, C, B1, B2, B6, B9, B12. Vitamin A can help you achieve good vision, a healthy immune system and spur cell growth. The B vitamins can help to keep your body up and running —just what every working adult, student and sport enthusiast needs. Vitamin C helps to grow and repair tissues in all parts of your body while vitamin D3 improves overall bone health.

Régilait LOW FAT, your partner for a balanced diet

Régilait LOW FAT, a tasty semi-skimmed cows’ milk produced on the best French pastureland. It contains 14% more calcium and 25% less saturated fat than a regular dried milk. Our gentle manufacturing process preserves all of the nutritional qualities of the milk (calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, protein, vitamins B1, B2, B9 and B12). Vitamin B1 and B2 enable the body to use nutrients, vitamin B9 is necessary for normal cell division and replication, vitamin B12 is involved in the formation of red blood cells.

What I love about their milk is that it comes in granulated form instead of the usual powder version, which means you can enjoy the milk with warm or even cold water! The milk is instantly dissolved in the water, without any hassle of having to keep blending the powder till your arms go weak.

Of course, the consumption don't just stop at purely drinking it. At the launch, Chef Lisa Leong showed us how to include milk into our daily dishes or desserts!

First dish she showed us, was Curry Ayam Indo. Using milk in replacement of coconut milk, makes it a healthier dish, diminishing the cholesterol risk, whilst bumping up the multi vitamins - A, D3, C, B1, B2, B6, B9, B12!

Next, there was crispy delicious sconces to dip into the curry and some sweet treats - Strawberry Tartlets, Strawberry Milkshake and Chocolate Milkshake, totally made together with the Régilait milk powder range.

I've been having the Régilait CALCIUM PLUS ever since I was introduced to it, I love how creamy it taste, nothing short of those fresh milk, I'm gona try cooking it with other dishes next. If you want the recipes, scroll to the bottom of the post. Stay creamy my Huneybees!

Come Enjoy Some Great Tasting Wine At Affordable Price With Me ~~~

Hi Huneybees,

Unlike beer, whiskey or rum, wine drinking is commonly associated with relaxation and unwinding. Drinking in moderation of wine, be it white or red, also has its health benefits, which is well documented.

With the above reasons coupled by the improvement of living standard, this often seen as the quintessential luxury in the beverage world, has gradually secured its place as an everyday item in the home and not just reserved for special occasions and festivities.

Usually a scene-setter to any sumptuous culinary experience, it is not uncommon to hear people assuming that the more expensive the wine costs, it possess better taste and quality.  In actual fact, prices of wine is alike jewelry, influenced by many factors other than quality of the beverage itself.

Location of the vineyard and winery, the brand image, scores and ratings and even celebrity associations can push prices on the upward trend without impacting the quality of the wine.  Among my decent collection of Italian and Spanish wines, which I started five years ago, my usual weekend wine fix actually cost under SGD$30 a bottle off the retail shelf!

In Singapore the trend of wine drinking could easily be observed by its availability on the island nation. Huneybees could purchase a bottle - subject to The Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act - not just at wine specialist stores but also in Supermarkets, convenience stores, and even Petrol Kisoks!

Emil Teo, Executive Director of Taste of Tradition, demonstrated how to appreciate wine
Huney'Z World was privileged to be invited to a special wine appreciation session hosted by Taste of Tradition, in partnership with Cold Storage, on good buys at the supermarket – finding that great bottle of wine right at your supermarket doorsteps.

Emil Teo, Executive Director of Taste of Tradition, an importer and distributor of fine wines around the world, shared that one can acquire a good bottle of wine at a supermarket at an affordable price in Rhône Wines from La Vieille Ferme

La Vieille Ferme with its numerous awards, accolades and reviews for Best Value and as one of the most sought after wine from the Rhône region has been producing authentic, honest and tasty wines vintage after vintage since 1970. "The Old farm", as translated in English, it has been acknowledged as one of the best value for money wines in the world. Its aims is to help change the common perception that wines of good quality and taste which tend to be expensive are only to be found at premium establishments and restaurants.

La Vielle Ferme Blanc - 2014
La Vieille Ferme Rouge - 2013
La Vieille Ferme Luberon Rosé - 2013

Three wines from the Rhone Valley of southern France were introduced : the White wine - La Vielle Ferme Blanc 2014, the Red wine - La Vieille Ferme Rouge 2013, and the Rosé wine - La Vieille Ferme Luberon Rosé 2013.

True to its reputation, all three wines tasted great but it's the La Vieille Ferme Luberon Rosé 2013 that gave your Queen Bee and myself the most impression. Made from grape variant of Cinsault 50%, Grenache 40% and Syrah 10%, this Rosé wine offers a richly balanced flavor with the just right sweetness, which is simply delightfully with every sip. With a price tag of under SGD$40, I'm very impressed by what La Vieille Ferme Luberon Rosé 2013 has to offer as not many winemakers make good and affordable Rosé wine as the process of Saignée or bleeding is long and tedious. Other methods such as pressing or blending (illegal in France) produce Rosé wine that is either too sweet or unbalanced in flavor.

The next time if you wanted a great wine to share with your family or friends but not wanting to compromise on your other expenses, do head down to your nearest Cold Storage supermarket to buy any of the three mentioned wines from La Vieille Ferme. For me, that day starts tomorrow!

I am so looking forward to hearing my fellow Huneybees' experiences with these wines or any other great wines that you would recommend for under SGD$40.

Meantime, wishing all Huneybees a great unwinding weekend.

Have An Egg-alicious Brunch At MEDZS

Hi Huneybees,

Yay! It's the weekend and it's time to treat ourselves to great food with our friends and families. The Brunch trend has been catching on in the recent years and my very own favourite would have to be the Eggs Benedict. Something about cutting the eggs up and letting the yolk flow, is so invigorating!

So, I'm always on the lookout for new Brunch hunts, looking for nice places to chill out with my hubby after "partying" out our Fridays and Saturdays. Hungry? Here's MEDZS with their new weekend brunch menu...

I have introduced MEDZS to you guys before, it is home to an eclectic range of Mediterranean cuisine from Spain, Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia, Greece, Italy and France. Their brunch menu is of course a wide selection of popular dishes from these countries and all I can wish for is to have 4 stomachs!

Stacked Brunch Torte

This Italian dish is a delight to have, every layer is a different flavour of Eggs, Ham, Mushroom, Spinach and Bell Pepper. Paired with a light salad, this will definitely prepare you for the rush hour week ahead.

Tasty Tortilla

If you are looking for something more hearty to last you through the noon, you can consider the Spanish Tortilla. With the Stewed Beans with Chorizo and Brioche Toast, the flavouful dish will ehisk you awayto Spain for the weekend.

Bouncy Benedict

Here comes my favourite. Not only is there Eggs Benedict, there's even Rosti Potato to go with them. You know how they always say eat your Eggs Benedict whilst its still piping hot? Well, after having mine laying there for a while, the egg yolk is still runny! Together with the Smoked Salmon and English Muffin, this is definitely the dish I want to wake up to every morning!

Le Jolly Monsieur

Served in a big portion of Ham, Bacon, Cheese and Béchamel Sauce, this French quick snack that is a must-have in all Parisian café. Although I do like this version of the Croque Monsieur, I would suggest to have it whilst it's hot, as the sandwich feels a little soggy after awhile.

Poseidon's Wrap

Fans of seafood must have this! It's a lighter dish compared to the rest, with loads of vegetables wrapped with prawn, fish, squid, it would be as though you were swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. Do try the Tzatziki sauce as well! The Greek Salad is also very appetizing with its tangy dressing, tomatoes, olives and cheese.

Spicy Chicken Tagine

I wouldn't call it spicy though, I find this dish kinda sweet in fact. Though this tasty Moroccan Chicken dish might be a little heavy for my liking, but I'm sold by the sauce and I can't help dipping the Potato Pancake in it!

Egg-Crowned Shakshouka

This is the first time that I had tried this dish and I must admit that I felt in love with the dish the moment I put in my mouth. The lamb kefta is very chewy while the egg yolk (when mixed with the sauce) is very addictive when eating with bread.

A Berry Pancake Gala

I would consider this a dessert and share it with my partner after our bunch meal. Other than the Berries topping, you could have a choice of maple syrup, Mango, Vanilla or Strawberry sauce to go with the pancakes.

The dishes are priced affordably so that you do not have to worry about burning a hole in your pocket even if you decide to pamper yourself every weekend. The restaurants’ cosy and friendly settings also make them an ideal place for to enjoy tete-a-tete conversations. Visit Orchard Central for the underground buzz, and Millenia Walk to enjoy the spacious and alfresco setting.

Not only that, MEDZS is adding premium coffee to its weekend brunch menu to complement the hearty range of brunch. For the first month, first 200 brunch-goers at each MEDZS outlet will receive a free cup of coffee with every brunch item purchased.

The weekend brunch menu will be available starting from 22 February 2014.

For a refreshing twist, MEDZS has also created a second, equally delightful menu. The two menus will alternate on a weekly basis. Check out MEDZS’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MEDZS.SimplyMediterranean?fref=ts) for more details.
