Edge's 'Flavours of the Lion City' Buffet Returns with Over 100 Local Delights for Singapore's 61st Birthday

Hi Huneybees,

If there's one thing Singaporeans can agree on, it's that food is at the heart of every celebration.

This National Day season, Edge at Pan Pacific Singapore is bringing together many of Singapore's best-loved flavours for its annual 'Flavours of the Lion City' buffet, running from 10 July to 9 August 2026. Whether you're planning a family gathering, celebrating National Day with friends, or simply looking for an indulgent local feast, this limited-time buffet showcases the multicultural flavours that make Singapore's food scene so special.

A Buffet Inspired by Singapore's Culinary Heritage

Curated by Executive Chef Andy Oh and his culinary team, the buffet pays tribute to the dishes many of us grew up enjoying while adding Edge's signature premium buffet experience.

Expect a generous spread featuring both familiar hawker-inspired favourites and elevated seafood and meat dishes, all prepared using quality ingredients.

Some of the local highlights include:

 • Teochew-style Steamed Local-farmed Hybrid Grouper

 • Braised Kong Bak served with Lotus Leaf Buns

 • Wok-fried Hokkien Prawn Noodles wrapped in fragrant Opeh Leaf

 • Fried Rice with Crispy Pork Lard

 • Poached Local-farmed Xiao Bai Cai with Egg White Crab Meat Sauce

Alongside these local classics are hearty international creations including Baked Local-farmed Barramundi with Chilli Pesto and Cilantro, Steamed Pacific Jumbo Clams with White Wine and Garlic, Smoked Pork Belly with Caramelised Pineapple Sauce, Pot Pie Lamb Stew, and many more.

Don't Miss the Dinner-Only Charcoal Grill

If you're visiting for dinner, make sure you leave room for the live charcoal barbecue station.

Fresh seafood and meats are grilled to order, including:

 • Marinated Giant Squid

 • Local-farmed Vannamei Prawns

 • Local-farmed Silver Pomfret

The dinner buffet also features some of Edge's signature favourites that regular diners will recognise, including the Signature Salt Baked Crab, Giant Cast Iron Pan-fried Oyster Omelette, Barbecued Sambal Stingray, and plenty more seafood selections.

For seafood lovers, this dinner spread alone is worth making the evening reservation.

End on a Sweet Singaporean Note

No buffet at Edge feels complete without visiting the dessert section.

For this National Day edition, expect plenty of nostalgic local-inspired creations alongside playful modern desserts:

 • Edge's Signature Durian Pandan Cake

 • Chempedak Cake

 • Milo Pani Puri

 • Chocolate Chilli Padi Tartlet

 • Coconut Rock Melon Tart

 • Horlicks Bread and Butter Pudding

 • Ondeh Ondeh Ice Cream

It's definitely the kind of dessert spread where you'll probably tell yourself you're "just having one slice" before returning for another round.

Edge has been one of my favourite buffet destinations whenever I'm looking for both quality and variety, and this National Day edition celebrates exactly what Singapore does best - bringing together different cultures through food.

From comforting local classics and fresh seafood to live charcoal grills and nostalgic desserts, 'Flavours of the Lion City' definitely feels like a delicious tribute to Singapore's rich culinary heritage.

If you're planning a National Day feast this year, this limited-time buffet is definitely one to add to your list!

[Movie Review] Catch Bombshells Sofia Vergara and Scarlett Johansson in CHEF

Hi Huneybees,

Chef is a light-hearted movie about a chef, Carl Casper played by Jon Favreau (Who's also the Writer and Director of the movie), who lost his restaurant job in Los Angeles and then returned to started up a food truck in Miami in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family.

Other than being a mini Iron Man reunion, bombshells Scarlett Johansson and Sofia Vergara heats up the movie screen.
The movie rides on the food truck craze in the States and with the strong cast list (Jon Favreau, Scarlett Johansson, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Downey Jr., John Leguizamo, as well as the sexy CoverGirl - Sofía Vergara) , you are in for a "treat".

Well, it all started with a food review by the renowned food critic Ramsey Michel, played by Oilver Platt, which went horribly wrong because of its restaurant owner, Riva played by Dustin Hoffman, insistence of serving the “proven” menu which lacks the creativity that Ramsey was looking for.

While the movie did make the audience hungry during Carl’s detailed food preparation scenes, it was Social Media that took the central stage in this movie. It showcased the power of Social Media – from Twitter, Youtube, Facebook to Vine - and we could all take a note or two from the movie on how it could be navigated to our advantage (and also disadvantage).

In Carl’s case, it was Twitter that first got him into trouble because he assumed that he was sending a “private message” to rap at Ramsey for the humiliation that he felt from Ramsy’s review and then later when he twitted out to Ramsey to an open challenge in an attempt to redeem his sore pride, which he never able to deliver after been fired by Riva.

Just as the audience thought it was bad enough, Carl’s loss of cool later at the restaurant was captured by many and went viral online (Youtube) that essentially sealed his Chef career. His return to reclaim his creative promise by running a food truck (named EL JEFE) was much to the credit of his son, Percy played by Emjay Anthony, who not only helped him as a line chef but more importantly his social media CEO, using platforms like Twitter and Facebook to update the public on the development of EL JEFE across the country.

It was after watching the Vine video of the entire journey of the food truck compiled by his son that marked the starting of Carl’s reversed relationship with his son and his ex-wife, Inez played by Sofia Vergara.
The ending of the movie was a fairy tale with Carl and Ramsey buried their quarrel and becoming partners of the EL JEFE restaurant and what seems to be a re-marriage of Carl and Inez.

Overall the movie was very entertaining but for fans of Scarlett Johansson who played Molly, the hostess at Riva’s restaurant, you will be disappointed as there were not much acting scenes of the Black Widow (although she did wore a low-cut black dress in one of those scenes) and all happened during the first part of the movie!

Chef opens in cinemas 5 June 2014, be sure to catch it while it's hot! ;P

Kinder Bueno Mashine "Yours to Play"

Hi Huneybees,

Today I was at Cineleisure, Orchard Road for an exciting event ~ Not only did I get to eat my favourite chocolate treat, I also got to meet my favourite local DJs and got to be a DJ for awhile!

It was pouring by the time I arrived but it didn't stop the Orchard Road shoppers from popping their heads into the Kinder Bueno Mashine tent. The music was catchy and even I was curious what was this Mashine all about?

What is MASHINE?

MASCHINE is the ultimate integrated hardware/software system for beatmaking and professional production. Much more than a drum machine, MASCHINE is a groundbreaking instrument that combines a pattern-based sequencer, professional sampler, effects and an incredible sound library – united in a smooth, super-intuitive workflow. And above is the super unique Kinder Bueno Mashine.

One side makes crunch sounds and the other side makes cream sounds.
I so wana eat a Kinder Bueno now!
You guys must be screaming "I don't know how to play!". That was what I feared, but luckily, resident DJs of Butter Factory are here to save the day! Today, I got to meet DJ Andrew T and DJ Zushan. *fan girl scream*

DJ Zushan even performed a professional piece for us to get a feel of what's it like to play the Mashine.

Ok. Now is my turn to try out the Mashine!

I simply love the crunching sounds and with every beat, I just wana go "GIVE ME A KINDER BUENO!". It's a little tough to play, like which buttons to press? I can only say, I am not musically inclined. WAHAHAHAHA!

Here's my video, but see how shy I was! So many people looking at me spin the not so pro mashine. LOL!

There are 3 more sessions for you to try the Kinder Bueno Mashine, so be sure to bring your friends and family down to make the best video. You stand a chance to win a limited edition Kinder Bueno 13” MacBook Pro and the Kinder Bueno Maschine!

With DJ Zushan and blogger friend, Rachel.

The shedules for the Kinder Bueno Mashine Roadshows are:
5 January 2013: 1pm - 9pm (Cinleisure)
11 January 2013: 4pm - 9pm (Plaza Singapura)
12 January 2013: 1pm - 9pm  (Plaza Singapura)

Wana do some homework before heading down to the event?
Here's some tutorial videos: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpOuOcw1-8a25SEUixkY-h7yrm32MS3-w

There's also a Facebook app for you to try out at the Kinder Bueno Singapore Facebook page!

What to eat around Clementi?

Hi Huneybees,

Last night I met up with J and P for dinner. P brought us to an interesting "zi char" Cafe - Ban Tong Seafood Restaurant, located just a stone's throw away from Clementi MRT station. P said their Cereal Crayfish is a must try and added a few other dishes...

Cereal Prawn.
Furong Egg Omelet
With abundant ingredients.
Lotus Roots Soup for just $4 and it's just enough for the 3 of us to share.
Sweet and Sour Pork.
Claypot Tofu.
The dishes taste delicious, and yes, especially the Cereal Crayfish. It's not something we've not taste before, but this time it's Crayfish, making the dish even more worthwhile with more meat. Let you in on something, we cleaned the plate off even the Cereal bits!

It's a must try at this stall. It's been on TV and even Yan Can Cook visited them before! Wow!!!

After dinner, we shopped a little around Clementi Mall before deciding to head over to Clementi Cityvibe for some dessert to kill the heat. Flyers were given out around the area and we decided to try out the BlackBall 黑丸 dessert stall that's from Taiwan!

We ordered the BlackBall Signature bowl with additional milk.

I love the chewy Sweet Potato and Yam balls. They taste delectable and I can't stop chewing. Actually when we finished the bowl, I was looking at the menu again wondering if they sold the toppings by themselves?

Something we didn't like was the service. They were a inflexible when it comes to the lack of certain ingredients, the dessert is not cheaper or additional quantity of other ingredients to replaced. We felt kinda cheated there. And also, who issues a loyalty card that's gona expire in a few weeks time?!

It was fun catching up with friends nd checking out other parts of Singapore. I think I might do it again soon. Anyone with special introduction of their neighbourhoodd let me know? I would love to explore...  =)

Tiger Translate - Suspended Animation

Hi Huneybees,

Last night, Tiger Translate launched their 1st installment event "Suspended Animation", to over 300 guests at 15 Minutes, LaSalle. Launched in 2005, Tiger Translate is a global creative platform that showcases the best in art, design, music and photography by creatives from the East and West. Tiger Translate serves as an opportunity for consumers to “transform their world” based on their individual expression.

The event was anchored by Tiger Crystal, a variant of world acclaimed and Singapore’s most popular beer brand, Tiger Beer.

Enjoying the party with Peiyun!

Reminded me of the food served at Dr. Martens' #FIRSTANDFOREVER Campaign.

The event was conceptualised with the theme of Suspended Animation, inspired by the filtering technique used as part of the process to produce Tiger Crystal called “Cold Suspension”, and provided an audio-visual experience to guests, in line with the global positioning of Tiger Translate as a platform to enrich and bring new perspectives to consumers’ beer experiences.

With Darren Dubwise from local group Syndicate and guest DJ Isaac Aesili from New Zealand performing a mix of cutting-edge beats throughout, guests were encouraged to draw out their personal expressions of creativity through art and music at interactive projections installed at the venue.

These projections generated graphics based on motion and were able to display them as art pieces to produce different suspended animation works.

I even got to keep a memento for myself!

Guests had to simply be in front of each interactive wall and create a series of movements and gestures to produce their very own motion art which they were able to take home. Another interactive area allowed guests to jump on a trampoline and their movements were captured as
graphic animation on a screen.

Throughout the event, guests enjoyed refreshing and easy-to-drink Tiger Crystal and were also able to take home exclusive and limited silk-screened Tiger Translate T-shirts designed by local visual and audio specialist, Kiat of Syndicate.

Hit + Run! The company I met during Social Media Week!

“Tiger Translate is all about engaging our consumers through a multi-sensory fusion of art, design and music, and we wanted to stay true to this message with this event by focusing on the theme of motion capture as a visual art form. We are encouraged and pleased with the response from guests who enjoyed drawing out individual levels of creative expression and this different perspective to enjoying Tiger Crystal” ---Mr. Rene de Monchy, Head of Marketing, APBS.
The Tiger Babes...
Thanks Tiger Beer!
