Just Visited i Light Singapore 2024 — Here’s What You Have to Check Out

Hi Huneybees,

There’s something magical about Singapore at night, especially during i Light Singapore, and this year’s edition truly lit up my evening (pun very much intended 😄). I just came back from wandering through glowing walkways, dreamy installations, and playful spaces, and I had to share the highlights while they’re still fresh in my mind!

Here’s what’s new, what stood out, and what you absolutely shouldn’t miss at i Light Singapore 2024...

A New Theme, A New Feel

This year marks the 10th edition of i Light, and it’s themed “Cyclical Nature” -  a poetic nod to sustainability, nature’s rhythms, and our shared future. It’s not just about pretty lights (though there are plenty); every installation is created with recycled or environmentally conscious materials. It's thoughtful, beautiful, and very Instagram-worthy.

New Spots to Explore: Hello, Tanjong Pagar!

For the first time, the festival extends beyond Marina Bay into Tanjong Pagar, and I loved this new addition. It felt a bit like discovering a hidden gem tucked away in the city.

Hidden Garden at Tras Link Park is a must-see with giant glowing flowers, soft music, and a tranquil vibe that feels like stepping into a neon fairytale. It’s a sweet contrast to the buzzier Marina Bay circuit. And if you’re into sustainable shopping, they’ve set up a whole eco-market here, with local vendors, workshops, and live performances (some even powered by solar energy!).

My Top 5 Must-See Installations

There are so many stunning pieces, but these ones really stopped me in my tracks:

1. Iwagumi Air Scape by ENESS (Australia)

Think soft, glowing boulders inspired by Japanese aquascapes that's super calming in the way the lights pulse with “breaths” gives it this serene, almost meditative vibe.

2. Arc ZERO: Nimbus by Studio James Tapscott

This was magical. A ring of mist and light right by the water — walking through it felt like crossing into another dimension. It’s both surreal and grounding.

3. Dandelion by Amigo & Amigo

This one’s interactive! You place your hands on a panel, and the sculpture lights up with a melody. It’s playful, gentle, and kinda therapeutic?

4. Kinetic Perspective by Juan Fuentes Studio

Mesmerising is the word. As you walk around, the patterns shift and dance — it’s one of those “can’t-stop-watching” experiences.

5. Fountain of Happiness by 27June Studio

A swing set… but glowing with rainbow tubes that change colour as you move! It’s fun, nostalgic, and surprisingly emotional. Don’t skip it.

🍔 Bonus: GastroBeats = Food + Music + More Lights!

If you're heading to Marina Bay, don't miss GastroBeats at the Bayfront Event Space. I treated myself to a juicy burger from The Curry Club and tried a quirky Korean-style corn dog from Kwazy Korndogs. There’s live music, neon-themed games, and the Coca-Cola zone with interactive booths and sustainability quizzes (and prizes!). Great vibes all around.

i Light Singapore has always been one of my favourite annual events,  and 2024 really raised the bar. From dreamy landscapes to fun interactive pieces, it’s a beautiful reminder that sustainability and creativity can go hand in hand.

If you’ve been meaning to make a night out of it, this is your sign! Bring your camera, comfy shoes, and someone who’ll appreciate a little light magic. ✨ Check out my event video for a peek at the most photogenic spots to explore!

Coca-Cola Celebrates Its 80th Year In Singapore And Malaysia With A New "One Brand" Strategy

| |
Hi Huneybees,

On 11th March 2016, Coca-Cola marked its 80th year in Singapore and Malaysia by holding big celebration with LIVE video streaming between the two locations and Huney'Z World was privileged to be invited to witness this grand occasion.

The management team in Coca-Cola Singapore facility "Yum Seng" with the audience for more good years!

Gil McLaren, GM of Coca-Cola Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei sharing the "One Brand" global marketing strategy
In conjunction with the celebration, Gil McLaren, General Manager of Coca-Cola Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei based out of Singapore and Stephen Lusk Chief Executive Officer Coca-Cola Bottling Investments Group, based out of Malaysia, jointly revealed  the launch of its new "One Brand" global marketing strategy.

The new tagline -"Taste the Feeling" is part of the "One Brand" global marketing strategy of Coca-Cola
For the first time ever, under this new "One Brand" global marketing strategy, Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Light and Coca-Cola Zero will be united under the iconic Coca-Cola brand positioning in one global creative campaign - " Taste the Feeling."

With this "One Brand" approach, the equity of Coca-Cola, across all Coca-Cola Trademark products, will be shared to reinforce Coca-Cola commitment to offer consumer choice, showing how everyone can enjoy a variety of different Coca-Cola Trademark products.
And with the "One Brand" strategy, Coca-Cola will be moving away from having multiple brand campaigns, to a singular iconic brand campaign that celebrates both the product and the brand.

At the stimulcasted event, all invited guests across Singapore and Malaysia were sent back to memory lane when several classic commercials of Coca-Cola were screened.
Starting with the famous 1971 Coca-Cola commercial - "I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke", which later became a hit in both USA and UK when it was re-recorded by dropping the reference to Coca-Cola, several other familiar commercials such as 1980s "Can't Beat the Feeling" and 1990s "Always Coca-Cola" have had invoked much nostalgia in me.

After a tour down memory lane, the audience were introduced to the new lead television commercial "Anthem" that has started playing in both Singapore and Malaysia. An original song created for the new campaign, the soundtrack to "Anthem" has been titled "Taste the Feeling" and featured the voice of the London-born, Australia-raised singer, Conrad Sewell, whose was behind the world wide hit "Firestone".

A remix version of "Taste the Feeling" done by the Top Swedish DJ Avicii has just been released and has been my favourite pick between the two versions.

Guests at the event got to preview the campaign images of "Taste the Feeling"
"Taste the Feeling" will feature pan-Asian faces on its campaign images
As part of the focused approach to reach out to the masses, the regional campaign images of "Taste the Feeling" will feature Pan-Asian people enjoying ice-cold Coca-Cola in everyday moments and you will be able to see these images in iconic locations across the country very soon!

One of the three Pop-out photo booths that will be appearing around Singapore in coming months

Also, as part of the on-the-ground activities locally here in Singapore, a Coca-Cola "Taste the Feeling" pop-out cafe and photo booths will appear in high-traffic, iconic locations in the coming months, offering Singaporeans in their everyday moments, the pleasure of a perfectly served Coca-Cola; making these simple moments special.

"Taste the Feeling" will replace "Open happiness", which has been used as the overall marketing tagline by Coca-cola for the past seven years.

Funfilled Night @ The Singapore Social Concert With Blush, Carly Rae Jepson, PSY and Cee Lo Green

| |
Hi Huneybees,

I'm still recovering from the Singapore Social Concert. I was there for 2 days and I literally screamed my voice away! With so many stars performing just inches away from me, it's a miracle I did not faint!

Blush - The sexy all asian girl band kickstarted the concert

The hot-cha All Asian girl band - Blush heated up the stage, getting the audiences all raved up with their sexy dance moves and skin-tight S&M inspired clothings. I know guys were drooling and bet some girls were dying to "kill" them, but I must say, they have amazing vocals and definitely a "climax" right from the start!

Blush is a pop music girl group composed of five members - Angeli Flores (Philippines), Alisha Budrani (India), Ji Hae Lee (Korea), Natsuko Danjo (Japan) and Victoria Chan (China). They were formed by FarWest Entertainment in 2010 with the intent of popularizing an Asian vocal act in the United States as well as in all of Asia.

Carly Rae Jepson - The songstress was all about LOVE!

Next up was Carly Rae ‘Jeppo’ Jepson. Displaying her lovable girl-next-door look and voice, she was all bubbly, dancing around the stage, engaging the audience in every song. Her sweetness was making me forget the heat and got me dancing and singing to her songs like "Tonight I'm Getting Over You" & "Curiosity", tying her songs together with a little bit of story telling.

Jeppo then got the audience to look to the full moon and performed "Your Heart Is a Muscle", getting us to "light up" our mobile phones and sway along with it.

She also performed "Take A Picture", the song that was song was written as part of Coca-Cola’s campaign. It was definitely her song, totally her genre. Hmmm, actually, where's my coke?

The closing song was non other than "Call Me Maybe" which all the audience around me have been asking her to sing for that hour. Come on, save the best for last man!

PSY - Famous yet humble was his thing

The crowd was roaring in screams when PSY came out to the stage. His wonderful command of English blew me away again and he was so so humble. He was thankful for everyone's support and one thing he said made everyone appreciate his years' of hard work even more --- "I'm amazed. You know or speak Korean, but you all sang and danced to my songs, happily. That’s the beauty of music and how it can (and should) transcend all language barriers."

He only performed 4 songs - "Champion", "It’s Art (예술이야)", "Gentleman" & "Gangnam Style", which was like teasing us and not giving more. But I must say, the 4 songs was enough to bring the house down! Everyone danced and tried to sing along with him. It was a full workout the whole time he was on stage.

PSY ending his performance with his world renowned "Gangnam Style" with his hot Korean dancers should have ended with some fireworks to celebrate the moment! He also mentioned that he will be debuting his album in September, so let's see what phenomenon he have up his sleeves....

Cee Lo Green - Vote him for Singapore's president?

Stunning us with his crystal embellished robe, Cee Lo Green proved his "The Voice" worthy performance! His voice was the power station, stunning us with numerous songs of his, including "Don't Cha" which he wrote for the Pussycat Dolls

Singapore also proved to be too "hot" for him, when he disrobed and flashed his tummy at us. He was all about sexiness, there was a certain amount of the F word, but WTH, that's who he is right?

He has got to be my favourite singer out of the 4 performers, he sang live as though we were listening to his album, he engaged the crowd and he even asked us to vote for him as president. It was a joke, but that was an interesting thought ya?

Ending his performance with "Fuck You" a chart topping song, everyone sang and danced along. Yes, Singaporeans need to "release" all their pent up stress, so why not just a few shouts of the F word?

A big shout out to Starcount for bringing the stars in for the amazing night.
Do hope they can do this in Singapore again next year!
