Hi-5 to a Fun-Filled School Holiday at City Square Mall

Hi Huneybees,

It's the weekends and very fast the 1-week March school holidays will be coming to an end for the kids. If you are looking for somewhere to hang out with the little ones this weekend before they get buried in school work again, why not head on over to City Square Mall?

The Hi-5 Playtime With The Chatterbox 'Live' Show and the Rainbowlicious Carnival kicked off at City Square Mall this past weekend and provided the children a fun and enjoyable start to their March holidays!

It was also a trip down memory lane for the older members of the audience as the cast sang and danced to popular Hi-5 tunes 'So Many Animals', 'L-O-V'E' and 'It's A Party'. 

Hi-5 Playtime With The Chatterbox 'Live' Show

Date: 11 – 19 March 2017 (daily except Monday)

Time: 2pm & 7pm (Tuesday – Friday); 1pm, 4pm & 7pm (Saturday & Sunday)

Venue: Level 1 Atrium

Chats’ new friend Tinka, the tin toy robot, mysteriously arrived one day in a box and needed some help learning English as she can only speak in ‘bips’ and ‘bops’. Discover new words and phrases with Hi-5’s adorable puppet friend and engage in interactive games such as ‘Hide-and-Seek’ and ‘Guess the Animal’. 

With a minimum spending of $50*, shoppers can also redeem a pass for the Meet & Greet session one hour prior to each show at the Level 2 Customer Service Counter. Grab them quickly though, as there are only 50 passes per session!

Outside the mall at the L1 City Green Outdoor Park, there's also the Rainbowlicious Carnival. There's tons of children-friendly rides such as Racing Bikes and Pirate Ship, alongside an inflatable Rainbow Obstacle and Farm Slide to keep the kids busy throughout the day.

But if the sun's getting too warm, there's also more happenings in the mall. Head down to Basement 2 (beside travelators) for some action on the Robot Rides, where children will be able to ride on their favourite robot. Tickets are available at Uncle Ringo booth.

City Square Mall Hosted Singapore First The ODEX Film Festival

If you are an Anime fan, you will probably already aware of the release of Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale ( ソードアート・オンライン -オーディナル・スケール) in Singapore, on 18th February 2017.

However do you know that, in celebration of this world wide release in 1000 theaters on the same day, City Square Mall has plan to give anime fans in Singapore a special treat by holding an Anime Film Festival, known as The ODEX Film Festival (ToFF).

As part of this festival, Golden Village at City Square Mall will be screening five other anime movies - Kizumonogatari 3 (傷物語 Part 3), The Moment You Fall In Love, Genocidal Organ, Yugioh – Dimension of Darkness, and One Piece Film Gold - apart from Sword Art Online at different time slots from 20th to 26th February.  

What's more, anime movie goers for any of these anime screening will be able to get some interesting movie premium redemption by just presenting their GV movie ticket stub or online purchase receipt at the ODEX's booth at L1 Atrium!

Also at L1 Atrium of City Square Mall, anime-lovers will also be treated to a ton of other cool stuff like anime merchandise booths, Sword Art Online and Detective Conan movie backdrops, a cosplay photo competition, and many more!

Gotta Catch ‘Em All At City Square Mall This National Day

The Pokémon Go! fever has reached City Square Mall! 

This mall that's owned and managed by City Developments Limited (CDL) will turn into a Pokémon Go paradise this National Day!

On 9 August from 1pm to 3pm, Pokémon trainers can expect a myriad of Pokémon at the below 6 locations when City Square Mall releases the lures for their mall-goers and visitors to capture Pokemon.

I bet it might get a little crowded, so be careful, watch where you are going and bring your battery packs along!

Are You Craving for Noodles Now?

Whether be it Wanton Noodle, Mee Pok Dry, Mee Goreng or Mee Rubus, I am a sucker for all of them as noodle has always been my comfort food since young.

Recently while attending an event at City Square Mall, I had an opportunity to dine at a new noodle house on the block in Singapore - Face to Face noodle house (面 对 面). Unknown to some, Face to Face noodle house (面 对 面) is a 100 years old brand name with 30 outlets all over Malaysia and the outlet in City Square Mall is its first venture into Singapore.

A quick look at its menu suggested that it is a Malaysian Hakka-style noodle store with its exclusive use of Pan mee (Chinese: 板麺, pronounced as ban mian). It's block noodles from the Hakka's method of cutting the noodle into straight strands using a wooden block as ruler. Being Hakka myself, how can I not like these noodles eh?

Armed with an empty stomach, I ordered its signature Traditional Sarawak Noodles as well as one of its new Singapore creations Curry Chicken Pan Mee.

My verdict on the food? 

Size wise, I was glad to find the serving portion for both noodles were reasonable large for my hungry tummy and its char siu (叉燒)s and Curry Chicken were thicker and bigger than most noodle stores would serve in a shopping mall environment.

Taste wise, I found the Pan mee of Traditional Sarawak Noodles slightly overcooked and was kinda blend while its char siu (叉燒) were too hard and dry to my liking. I enjoyed the aroma of the curry from Curry Chicken Pan Mee but unfortunately it was a little too salty.

Like beauty, which is in the eye of the beholder, food is the same for taster; subjective. 
The battle of the noodle houses has just started and Face to Face noodle house (面 对 面) needs more than its 100 years branding from across the causeway to stay alive here. Before I sign off for my meal, I do suggest all non-halal Huneybees who have dined at Face to Face noodle house (面 对 面) in City Square Mall to share your unadulterated view with me.

Giving The ASUS ZenFone MAX A Test Run

Hi Huneybees,

It's been a couple of weeks' experience with the ASUS Zenfone MAX and as shown previously, it is an impressive phone that comes with great battery capacity. So I brought it with me on my day trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia to 'document' my experience.

As like all overseas trip, I love taking pictures while on the move. That's why the camera function is the most important aspect of a phone when I'm getting one.

There are alot of modes to play with and combined with the 13MP rear camera with dual tone flash and laser autofocus, I can take sharp high resolution photos while hubby drives along the road. I don't even have to miss a moment. All it takes is a split second to focus and snap! 

See these photos above and below. When I've zoomed in 7 times to enlarge, I can still see the details clearly! Even when birds fly by, there's no sign of motion blur at all.  I'm definitely ASUS-converted. =X

Of course, with all these constant photo snapping and having the phone's screen turned on all the time, battery will get drained off very fast. Having to lug a heavy duty portable charger whilst you shop, might seem to be too much a burden on your shoulders. 

This is definitely the moment you are glad you have the Zenfone MAX. With a massive 5,000mAh battery, the phone easily lasted me through the day and I could still "share" my battery life and use it to charge my hubby's phone, using the OTG wire provided. See how easy it is done below...

Just one down side though. Due to the high battery capacity, it does take a much longer to charge the phone to full capacity with the provided charger. It normally takes me up to 5 hours to get it fully charged. But I'm fine with it, since the Zenfone MAX tends to last me about 1.5 to 2 days.

I'm loving the ASUS Zenfone MAX and I'll recommend this to those who likes to be on-the-go and have one device to do everything for you. You can get great photos to boast about and post on your social media apps, whilst getting most of your job done, checking emails, taking notes, sending messages and receiving calls.

Welcome To Play At The New Eco-Playground At City Square Mall's City Garden

Hi Huneybees,

You may have already know that City Square Mall is Singapore’s first eco-mall to be integrated with a 49,000 sq ft urban park named City Green but are you aware that within this ‘City Green’ houses a butterfly garden, a wide variety of plants and ecologically themed artwork and signs as well as a very popular Eco-Playground that is made from environmentally-friendly construction materials?

Well, six (6) years since its launch in March 2010, by property firm City Developments Limited (CDL) for use as an ecologically-themed venue for community activities and to provide open space for recreation, City Green gets a brand new Eco-Playground to the delight of every kid who has visited there recently (hurrah!).

The new Eco-Playground, rebuilt on top of the previous one, is a lot more colourful and has more play stations than its predecessor.

Although it may look less fancy compare to those water-themed playgrounds found in other malls where parents would have to prepare dry t-shirts and towels for the soaking wet kids, the Eco-Playground brings similar joy to the kids without getting them messy while at the sametime contributes zero (0) carbon footprint to the climate in the process.

On the subject of climate change or environmental sustainability, within City Square Mall itself, there are many eco-facts printed within the family-friendly eco-mall's corridors to encourage an eco-learning experience for visitors while the families move around for their shopping or looking for a restaurant to dine in.
