Chanel Cruise 2013-14 Collection Launched In Singapore

Last weekend, Singapore was the place to be at. The red dot on the map has made a record again!

With the Godfather of fashion - KARL LAGERFELD was in town together with the showcase of Chanel Cruise 2013-14 collection, it was the place to be at and to be seen! 

The Cruise or Resort collection (collection croisière, in French) also commonly known as "Pre-Spring/Summer," features designs for holidays or travel, and is an inter-season line of ready-to-wear clothing produced in addition to the recurrent twice-yearly seasonal collections - Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter - heralded at the fashion shows in New York, London, Paris and Milan. Source: Wikipedia

Held at the Loewen Cluster, it was a star-studded night with appearances by American actress DAKOTA FANNING, ANDRÉ LEON TALLY, International style icon CARINE ROITFELD, Chinese star ZHOU XUN, Super Junior singer CHOI SI WON with South Korean actress JUNG RYEO WON, Taiwanese actress GWEI LUN-MEI, as well as local celebrities DICK LEE, ZOE TAY, KIT CHAN and FANN WONG.

The French luxury label also flew in models especially for the show, with several of them also starring in Lagerfeld's short film and these include Lindsey Wixon, Stella Tennant, Saskia de Brauw, Shu Pei Qin, Joan Smalls, Du Juan, Ming Xi, Cara Delevingne and Aymeline Valade.

Singapore was chosen as "it is the ultimate cruise destination, it is summer all year round. The original idea of “going on a cruise” stems from the desire to escape cold winters for a warmer climate and to enjoy an exotic place in the sun" --- Chanel

Kicking off the show were designs inspired by cricket, carrying the sport's predominantly white dress code and propped with knee-guards and bats. That was well fitted into the location too...

Trademarks of Chanel's black and white was dominant alongside navy blue, infused with sequins and pleats as well as some peek-a-boo for the slight sexiness.

With pieces for a more casual setting for the Victoria Beckham moment from the private jet to the beach and something more elegant and classic for the evening, you are definitely set for a cruise trip of funfilled vacation that can bring you to every single event without fret.

Samsung Fashion Steps Out 2013

The yearly Fashion Steps Out happened over the weekend, named as Samsung Fashion Steps Out 2013, the event was presented by Samsung and headlined with an array of models presenting the latest capsule collections from Ashley Isham, Joe Chia and Amaya Arzuaga at the exclusive opening segment of the Orchard Fashion Runway.

Invited guests will be partying at ION2 before the Runway show, sipping cocktails specially concocted for the event at Bar BAZAAR, presented by Official Fashion Magazine Harper’s BAZAAR in association with EFFEN Vodka. Amongst those attending are artistes Bobby Tonelli, Joey Mead, Max Loong, Rebecca Tan, Teo Seng Loong and Wong Lilin.

After a few drinks and mingling, it was time for us to head over to the "runway" and get ourselves ready for the show...

To mark the launch of the Samsung GALAXY S4 With LTE, these devices were featured alongside the models’ overall ensemble for a creative blend of fashion and technology and to demonstrate how the smartphone is the perfect companion to life’s special moments.

More than 170 models strut down Orchard Road (Yes, it was a traffic stopping event) sporting the freshest Spring / Summer looks and Fall / Winter styles from celebrated international and local brands like Fausto Puglisi; Victoria, Victoria Beckham; Coach; J.Press; Robinsons; Marks & Spencer; Adolfo Dominguez; Maria Grachvogel; and Blugirl.

The make-up and hair on the models that night was done by Shiseido and they were in the season’s trendiest colours and hairstyles.

It was such a great event, but I must say it was a little disappointing due to the management of it. Alot of the best moments were blocked by the huge truck and I must say media got the worst seat of them all at this fashion event. I mean, it would be great if we were given the heads up on the positions of the models?

At the end of the fashion show, we headed over to Coach for refreshments as well as some shopping of our own. Well, that's for the next blog post.
