THE SOUND OF MUSIC Is Back And Better!

I am so happy to see the return of THE SOUND OF MUSIC back in MasterCard Threatres at Marina Bay Sands Singapore!

Time has really flied by as it has been three (3) years since your Queen Bee last caught the musical, when it was played at the same venue during its five-week season run in July/August 2014 to over 70,000 people. You could revisit that post at this link here.

It is because of this popular demand that the new season of THE SOUND OF MUSIC has also been extended and will run until 3rd December 2017.

Both Queen Bee and myself agreed unanimously after attending the premier on 9th November 2017 that the new season of The Sound of Music is definitely worth a second viewing even for Huneybees who have had too caught the last performance in 2014.

In our opinion, the British accent delivery throughout the performance makes the show flows more fluid and sexier too when it comes to the love scenes between Captain Von Trapp and Maria Rainer and also with Baroness Schraeder.

Meet two leads of this new season - Carmen Pretorius who plays Maria Rainer and Nicholas Maude who plays Captain Von Trapp.

Produced straight from the home of West End musical theatre - the famous London Palladium - where this highly acclaimed show celebrated a record-breaking 954 performances and was seen by over two (2) million people, this show is as authentic as one can ever get outside UK!

The young actors and actresses from Singapore are part of the eighteen children who will be playing the coveted roles of six of the seven Von Trapp children

Whether you are catching it for the first time or return for a second viewing, THE SOUND OF MUSIC with its unforgettable songs, including Do-Re-Mi, Climb Ev'ry Mountain, Sixteen Going On Seventeen and the glorious self-titled song itself, are going to touch the hearts of all ages!

Come Join Me At THE SOUND OF MUSIC, Performing At MasterCard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands

The hills are alive,

With the sound of music

With songs they have sung

For a thousand years

I grew up watching Julie Andrews in THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Her opening performance right on top of the mountain was my theme song for the longest period and when back in the school band, this was one of my favourite song to play on the flute.

And now, this amazing 1959 Broadway production is here on our shores! I was at the media preview of it and I left the MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands humming and singing those songs on repeat!

The 1959 production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC won 6 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and was Rogers and Hammerstein's biggest success and with the 1965 movie starring Julie Andrews as Maria won 5 Oscars, including Best Picture and remains on of the most popular movies of all times!

Other than the opening title song - The Sound Of Music, you can also expect to hear the unforgettable songs - Do-Re-Mi, My Favourite Things, Climb Ev'ry Mountain, Edelweiss, Going on Seventeen, etc. Bethany Dickson plays as Maria Rainer, together with Andre Schwartz as Captain Von Trapp and Janelle Visagie as Mother Abbess.

6 out of 7 of the von Trapp children are played by 18  of Singapore's young actors and actresses. Ranging from the age of  6 to 13, they will perform in rotation as Gretl, Frederich, Kurt, Maria, Brigitta and Louisa. I've always loved Gretl's character and that afternoon I can't bear to keep saying Jaime Chew (who played as Gretl) was so adorable on stage, especially with those braids of hers!

THE SOUND OF MUSIC will be performing from 11 July -  10 August 2014 at the MasterCard Theatre, Marina Bay Sands.

I ♥ Carlo Rino Spring Summer 2012 Collection

I was recently invited to the Carlo Rino Showroom and was introduced to their Spring Summer 2012 bags & wallets that will be launched progressively. Carlo Rino continues to enchants us with 6 new collections inspired by some our favourite things (*sings in tune to "Sound of Music"

This Spring Summer we continued our travels and burrowed through the dungeons of the vibrant and bustling city. We discovered new old school delights, ice-cream and rounded off our journey at a Nordic sandy beach, where we made new friends who inspired us! Our new girlfriends, Isabelle and Samantha played host to us and we were introduced to new smells, delightful colours and creatures. It was a wonderful holiday to the city!

Isabelle and Samantha’s favourite collection! The girls were amazed by our personal collection of leather luggage. They shared ideas of playful block-colour play, just like those on the fun-looking big boats; Classic Catch is a full leather collection that comes in solid colour hues.

Poshmod
We were taking a ride in the bicycles of Isabelle and Samantha and stopped at the roadside for these amazing creamy butter cookies – Poshmod is a collection of playful dappled pink wallets and bags. Borne from our thoughtful selection of creamy pink shade in checks, to contrast with the lush red trims. This playful collection is a tribute to the delightful time tea and cookies! Trés Chic!

Dreamy links
Oh I am sentimental, so this is MY personal favourite MUST-HAVE because it reminds me of all my adventures. Dreamy links is a collection with all the trinkets on my bag to signify all my trips and everything important! It is with me on my every trip and keeps all my dreams all in one!

These are the special ones as the charms were sewn on and not printed on! Pretty eh?

Blushing Blooms
I will never forget my heritage flowers that bless me everywhere I go. This holiday, the flowers were similar to those at home; but instead of bright red, they were all pink and creamy, and the flower scent fills the air with it wonderful aroma… This collection, we have yummy soft ice-cream white luxurious leather and the delicate pink hues to colour every corner of the bags.

Rosy Ribbons
Inspired by one of Isabelle’s favourite dress when she tells us that she has to leave for something called work!! She brings us goodies whenever she returns from this work thing! We chose the patent red leather on the straps to match her sparky city-girl attitude!!

 Here are also the Special Collections dedicated to the girls; representing friendship, love, loyalty and fun at the beach!

City Flamingo
Picture a beautiful city girl enjoying the sun and the sand at the beach, with her long hair blowing in the wind, Isabelle epitomises my favourite ethereal graceful lady, my darling flamingo and I name this collection, the City Flamingo! Ha!
Ooh, just like Isabelle’s favourite flyaway scarf she always wears, just like my pink & brown leather trims wrap around the Carlo Rino monogram initials and appealing hearts - exuding all sense of ‘City Chic’!

Heart Tease Bag collection
Always ready with a wink, or the look that melts your heart, Samantha is always the naughty and cheeky sweetheart girl! We specially chose the happy pink heart to represent our charming teaser!
