Therme Singapore to Transform Marina South into a World-Class Wellbeing Hub

Hi Huneybees,

Singapore never stops reinventing itself, and honestly… that’s one of the things I love most about living here. Just when you think you’ve explored every corner of the island, something new pops up that makes you go, “Ooh, that’s going straight onto my must-visit list!”

The latest? Therme Singapore - a massive S$1 billion next-generation wellbeing destination that’s about to transform the Marina South coastal area into an urban oasis. And this is not “just another spa.”

Wellness, Culture & Sustainability - A Holistic Escape for Everyone

Therme Group, one of the world’s leaders in next-generation wellbeing destinations, has officially won the Singapore Tourism Board’s tender to build Asia’s very first Therme that's right by Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay (already one of my favourite date-night spots!). From the early concept descriptions, this state-of-the-art space looks like a luxurious fusion of lush botanical landscapes, warm thermal pools, world-class art installations, and cutting-edge health tech, all wrapped in biophilic, sustainable architecture. Designed in collaboration with DP Architects and Therme’s in-house team, the vision is undeniably stunning and future-forward.

But what really stands out to me is how this destination goes beyond pampering. Therme wants to create a welcoming space that brings people together by promoting community wellness, social connection, and holistic health for visitors of all ages. Whether you’re planning a family outing, a quiet solo recharge, or a cosy couple’s wellness date, this 4-hectare urban oasis aims to offer something for every mood. With an expected 2 million annual visitors at full capacity (half coming from overseas), it’s clear Singapore is embracing its role as a global wellness hub.

And the best part? Therme Singapore is designed to be a wellness destination that gives back to the environment rather than taking from it. Expect high-efficiency water recycling, sustainable energy solutions, and seamless integration with coastal park greenery and waterfront spaces - creating a genuine green-and-blue sanctuary that puts sustainability at its core.

The Future of Urban Wellness

STB’s goal is clear - they want Singapore to be recognised as an urban wellness haven, and Therme Singapore feels like a big step in that direction. The focus isn’t just on physical wellbeing but also on mental and emotional wellness. And honestly, after the hectic pace of the last few years, I think many of us are craving exactly this kind of restorative space.

As someone who has been covering lifestyle, tech, and wellness experiences around Singapore, this announcement couldn’t be more aligned with everything we’re passionate about here at Huney’Z World. I’m already imagining late-night thermal soaks, walking through tropical gardens, and taking artsy IG shots with incredible installations.

And yes! This sounds like a perfect future couple’s escape spot for those looking for a romantic yet wellness-driven date idea. 😉 I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on construction updates and launch timelines, so stay tuned for more!

Indulge in a Sweet Adventure as Museum of Ice Cream Launches the First Ever Official Guide for Desserts in Singapore

Hi Huneybees,

Yes sweeties, we are spicy most of the time but there's also a sweet side to us. Come experience Singapore with a sugar rush as Sweet Spots highlight the most delectable spots across the island.

Sweet Spots is an exciting initiative brought about by Museum of Ice Cream (MOIC)'s relentless drive to spread and celebrate the universal and borderless joy of sweet treats, to foster everlasting connections between people, and for everyone to embrace their inner child in the enjoyment of delicious desserts. It is Singapore’s first-ever official guidebook for desserts as part of the Singapore Tourism Board’s SingapoReimagine Marketing Programme (SMP)!

Singapore has so much more to offer and by not only showcasing the very best spots for ice cream, the guidebook will also feature other sweet desserts like Chendol, Orh Nee, and even Ice Kacang! Highlighting the best spots for dessert across the island, Sweet Spots will feature everyone’s favourite traditional hawkers, cafes, patisseries, and even fine dining establishments.

Upon the launch of the Sweet Spots site, you may nominate your favourite dessert spots for consideration at www.sweetspotsguide.com along with your favourite menu items. Once a comprehensive list has been compiled, a group of esteemed judges, selected from different fields across the culinary world, will then travel upon the rocky road of desserts to sample everyone’s favourite sweet treats. Nominations will begin on April 10 2023, with everyone invited to nominate and vote for desserts close to their heart and will end by May 10 2023.

With evaluations complete, selected establishments will be ranked in 3 tiers to receive the coveted SPOONS award, with 3 SPOONS awards given to 10 establishments, 2 SPOONS awards given to 15 establishments, and 1 SPOON award given to 25 establishments at the Sweet Spots Gala Party and Award Ceremony held in September! Selected establishments that receive the prized SPOONS award will then be invited to take over all of the treat stations at Museum of Ice Cream on October 14th to showcase their delightful delicacies to the public.

With the mechanics of having crowd-sourced nominations driving the campaign, Sweet Spots will truly reflect the tastes of the local palates, bring attention to the best establishments in the heartlands of Singapore, and allow both tourists and locals alike to experience Singapore through the lens of Singapore’s delectable treats.

To further incentivize nominations, 50 pairs of tickets to the Museum of Ice Cream will be given to lucky winners to have them join in the festivities and try the scrumptious creations of SPOONS awardees on National Desserts Day!

Hi Huneybees,

Christmas is gonna get brightly fun at Gardens by the Bay again as it transforms into Singapore's biggest yuletide playground for Christmas Wonderland 2016.

If you were there for the past 2 years, this 3rd edition is bigger and promises more fun events for the whole family to enjoy in this magical forest. Organised by Blue Sky Events and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, Christmas Wonderland 2016 takes place from 2 December to 1 January 2017, from 3.30pm to 11pm daily.

Preparations are in the midst and you can definitely look forward to embark on a festive journey. Marvel at the Italian luminarie - Sculptures of Light illuminating the fairground, which has been expanded to 57,000sqm together with experiences for all ages, from wintry fun at the Ice Palace, to the local debut of the Hi-5 Funtastic House to a magical forest of Christmas trees. Visitors can also look forward to a bigger festive shopping and dining experience, more carnival games and curated festive performances for a celebration at home like no other.

There's tons to see and tons to do for friends and families to be merry this festive season. Here's a few highlights...

More regal luminarie – Sculptures of Light imported from Italy, the main attraction of Christmas Wonderland, will illuminate the fairground and have visitors mesmerised this year. Featuring a distinctive 17th and 18th century Baroque architectural style, some 240,000 multi-hued bulbs will light up the 67 hand-sculpted luminarie.

This year's Spalliera Castel del Monte in preparation...
The 19.7m tall Spalliera Castel del Monte is Southeast Asia’s highest and largest luminarie. Its design is largely inspired by its namesake – a 13th century castle and one of Italy’s most striking UNESCO site. Here, visitors can also look forward to experiencing ‘snow’ in the tropics with the daily Blizzard Time.

Making its debut at Christmas Wonderland near the Meadow Bridge is the enchanting Magical Forest. Santa’s Cottage awaits amongst a forest of pine trees adorned with festive baubles, where visitors can meet Santa and bring home a memorable photo.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Christmas Wonderland also presents a complimentary showcase of yuletide parades, choral performances as well as curated singer-songwriter collaboration sessions amongst local artistes such as The Next Movement and Hidhir. Please refer to Annex 1 for the entertainment line-up.

‘Tis the season to play

Step into an upsized Ice Palace to enjoy ‘winter’ in our sunny island – skate at the 400sqm ice skating rink, enjoy an all-new 25m long Ice Slide or make a ‘snow’ angel at the 96sqm (double the size of last year's) Snow Playground.

The Hi-5 Funtastic House will make its Singapore debut at Christmas Wonderland is sure to delight little ones with a host of fun activities. Fans of the hit Australian musical group can have a time of their lives at the ‘Ready, Set, Bounce!’ bouncy castle, groove along to their favourite Hi-5 songs and ‘Style It Up’ for the camera in Hi-5 costumes and bring home a memento. Visitors are encouraged to pre-book their preferred sessions online to avoid disappointment.

Visitors can expect more carnival attractions at Christmas Wonderland this year. They can look forward to new carnival rides such as bumper cars, a mini ferris wheel and motorised Bug Car rides. Visitors can also take in the sights and sounds of the fairground at a more leisurely pace on the Christmas trains.

The ever popular carnival games return with more stalls including ‘Fishy Fishy’, ‘Lobster Pot’, ‘Can Toss’, ‘Ring Toss’ and ‘Hi Striker’ where participants stand to bring home Disney soft toys.

Shop, eat, drink and be merry

Visitors can enjoy an immersive dining experience at an all-new two-storey Glass House nestled amidst the Supertree Grove. Featuring a festive menu specially curated by Harry’s, diners can look forward to festive signature dishes while taking in beautiful views of the spectacular luminarie light sculptures within an air-conditioned indoor setting. The Glass House is also available for private events.

Explore the unique food, drink and shopping offerings at the European-style Festive Market featuring traditional wooden huts specially brought in from the United Kingdom. More details on the offerings at the Festive Market will be available at a later date.

Check Out My Exclusive Interview With Tan Han Jin 陳奐仁 X #SingaporeInvites

Hi Huneybees,

Just a few more hours to the closing of the Singapore Invites campaign - http://huneyzworld.blogspot.sg/2015/11/bringing-friends-families-together-with.html, where STB will be making 25 wishes come true by flying their loved ones to visit this beautiful garden city! Better get those entries posted!

This will be the best time to have them over, as Singapore is sprinkled with glitter powder and shimmering lights for the Christmas, just look at this view I got at the Christmas Wonderland @ Gardens by the Bay.

So, whilst waiting for the entries to be uploaded or the results to be announced, why not check out this special interview I had with our homegrown multi talented singer-songwriter - Tan Han Jin (陳奐仁).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been a fan of your music creations and I love your character - Mucci in TVB's "衝綫"! Will we be seeing you more in the acting industry?
If there any suitable characters for me to play and I am available for it, I'm definitely open to the opportunities!

So back to the #SingaporeInvites campaign, what do you miss the most about Singapore when you were in Hong Kong?
Not matter where I am, be it Hong Kong, China, Japan or even Taiwan, I will always be missing home, my friends and family. I'm most worried about my grandmother, though she is pretty healthy, I'm still worried about her health and vice versa, she is always worried about me. That's why I will try to make time to visit her.

Where's that one spot in Singapore that we might likely to "bump" into you?
I'm really a "home boy". To really bump into me, you can only try it at my front door, as I will be having tea with my mum and grandmother.

I don't get out much, so even if you are in Hong Kong, you can only try "bumping" into me at my studio's carpark. But for these 3 months, you can find me at the Guangzhou TV station's entrance as I have to work there almost every week.

But in April 2016, you will be able to find me in China as I will be doing a performance tour then. :)

After setting shop in Hong Kong, will you also be coming back to Singapore to do so?
Oh! I'm not sure about the future plans yet, but actually, I did have a recording studio in Newton Circus, Singapore 10 years ago, but sadly due to lack of manpower it had to be closed. It was a great place to enjoy meals with friends when they dropped by the studio though.

You have worked with several big names like Jacky Cheung, Eason Chan & Sammi Cheng , who would you want to work with next?
Well, in this industry, collaborations come about only when my style of music matches the singers. I won't specifically choose 1 to work with and I'm open all opportunities. For 2015, I'm very happy to have been working pretty closely with singers from China like Li Wei, Li Yu Chun as well as the competitors from "I Am A Singer", etc.

What are your views for the future Singaporean musicians? Should they follow your footsteps and strike a career overseas?
Well, Singapore market is pretty small and dense. I'm very envious of those who can strike a success right here in Singapore without having to leave their family behind, but it's a pity not all can do it, so I guess to succeed, we might have to do it overseas.

For those Singaporeans. like you, who are striving a success overseas, any inspirational words for them to "Jia You"?
It may seem scary and challenging to have a career overseas, but it can be very fun. Singapore has been producing amazing and accomplished singers, musicians and actors, for those who are looking to succeed, you can look up to them for motivation.

"Jia You" is a must but don't be afraid, believe and stay true to yourself and your work, be good to yourself and others, give your utmost best and it will be all good.

Any upcoming projects that you are currently embarking on?
I'm hoping that in 2016 I will be able to produce lots of multi-genre albums, with touring performances in China and should there be any acting opportunities, I am open to it too! And if there are music, concert and acting opportunities in Singapore, I would definitely love to be back to see my Singaporean fans too!

Pedestrian Night On Orchard Road is Back on July till Dec 2015!

Hi Huneybees,

How was your Great Singapore Sales haul coming along? Last weekend, it was amazing shopping fun when we all shopped amongst great music, performance fun! Were you there for the Pedestrian Night On Orchard Road?

This monthly event was back after a two month break and this time with a vengeance plus an extension till December 2015! Shout "Woohoo!" with me to more great shopping fun and deals!

What is the Pedestrian Night all about?
You do not know what you have been missing if you have not attended one before, my huneybees! On the first Saturday evening of every month, the stretch from ION Orchard (Scotts Road) to Paragon (Bideford Junction) will be closed for all traffic, from 6pm to 11pm, and shoppers are free to roam onto the streets! Of course, these Pedestrian Nights are all specially planned with a specific theme every month. And with this comeback, starting from July till December, Orchard Road is yet again transformed into playground for all!

For July, in conjunction with Great Singapore Sale (GSS), it was a tie up with the Orchard Road retail stores for in-mall shopping activities, special deals and contests, on top of an array of bustling activities one would never expect to see on the streets of the iconic shopping boulevard.

Were you there? Did you catch all the activities? Here's a recap of the wonderful night!

Flame of the Forest, a homegrown Instrumental / Fusion band, performed LIVE and also celebrated the launch of their debut EP Album launch. Though it was sweltering hot, hot weather that evening, I couldn't help dancing to their great songs!

Along with that, there were also buskers performances along the whole stretch, the kids were definitely kept entertained whilst mothers did their shoppings! There was balloon sculpturing, wire name twisting crafts along with singing and dancing. *No clowning around though*

I think the biggest shopping event for the night has to be at the long time historic local retailer - TANGS. Shopping hours were extended to 11pm that night with The A-list shopping Party for the public to join the A-Listers for a night of shopping and exciting activities, such as pop-up barber (Wah! Shop, shop, also can style hair leh~), sneaker tagging, and Temporary Jewelry Tattoo.

Wefies and selfies were sending cameras clicking non-stop at the free instant photo booth. Why? Coz, there was a chance to win one of three Capisco Puls chairs worth $1299 each, for the first 1000 shoppers. Of course, we had to join in the Singapore spirit and I heard queues started even before the roads were sealed!

And speaking of great deals, shoppers at Metro Paragon also received a $10 Metro Gift Voucher with minimum $100 purchase in a single receipt while enjoying saving up to 50% at its Shoes & Bags Fair.

But I really bagged it big at the Wing Tai Stores - Miss Selfridge, Topshop, Warehouse, Ben Sherman, etc. All those pieces I had been drooling over, were all snagged up by me coz I simply couldn't resist the fabulous saving of additional 15% off on top of the 50% discount on selected pieces!!!

Envy? Well, you better be there for next month's Pedestrian Night On Orchard Road coz we will be all decked in red and white for Singapore's Golden Jubilee on 1 August 2015. Themed as SG50 "Red and White" Party, Orchard Road will be celebrating Singapore's pioneers, stories and national milestones from 1965 to current day through the Pioneer Portraits Initiative. Come walk down Singapore's memory lane through a visual tour of the arts...

The rest of the month's Pedestrian Night On Orchard Road will also feature:
 • 5 September 2015: Rev-up on Orchard (Fast and furious shopping fun as F1 roars through the night)
 • 3 October 2015: Family Fiesta (Expect a carnival of activities for the entire family)
 • 7 November 2015: Fashion with Friends and Family (Time to style yourself up and take your best shot!)
 • 5 December 2015:  Christmas on A Great Street (Immerse yourself in the sea of bright and tinkering festive lights).

Thanks to the great team behind the Pedestrian Night On Orchard Road! I can't wait to be there for more of these nights! Thank you to organizers - Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) for working tirelessly behind-the-scenes to ensure that the whole fanfair went smoothly and safely.

See you there next month! :)

Did you played Tennis on Orchard Road last Saturday?

Hi Huneybees,

On Saturday, 4th October 2014, Orchard Road was closed from 6pm - 11pm , making way for the inaugural Pedestrian Night on Orchard Road!

What is that you may asked? Well, its the initiative is spearheaded by Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) and supported by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to inject new favor to the iconic shopping stretch of Singapore.

Taking the central stage of the inaugural event is the Tennis Pops Up @ Orchard Road, which transform the stretch will be between Scotts Road and Bideford Road stretch into a tennis extravaganza! This was held in anticipation of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore presented from 17-26 October.

Stretch of Orchard Road was closed in preparation for the tennis extravaganza!
Tennis Rackets and Balls were made available at each make-shift tennis courts for public to experience tennis on Orchard Road!

At around 7:30pm, the barricades that parameter the closed area welcomed both curious and eager public whom have been wondering along the barricades as early as 6pm.

Curious and eager public like this one (5 players playing!) spontaneously started playing tennis with the rackets and balls available at each make-shift tennis courts.
Assistance from the staff and parent respectively to the boys on the game of tennis
Initially there was a sense of chaotic when a few kids and adults-alike rushed to pick up the available tennis rackets on the "courts" and started hitting the balls all over the place. Fortunately staffs on duty quickly took control of the situation by guiding the players on the rules and technique of the game.

Here are some pictures of a tennis clinic ran in parallel for our future tennis stars.

I'm looking forward to the next Pedestrian Night on Orchard Road happening on 1st November, where participants can expect to practice with a renowned global yoga instructor and enjoy performances delivered by a roster of local musicians and talents!

Members of the public can email pedestriannight@orchardroad.org to share their feedback and suggestions for other events for the initiative.
