Hi Huneybees,

Pokémon fans in Singapore have something exciting to look forward to as Pokémon Singapore has announced that Pokémon Center SINGAPORE at Jewel Changi Airport will temporarily close from 1 April 2026 as it undergoes a major transformation.

When it reopens later this year, the store will unveil a fully localised concept - the first of its kind outside Japan. The revamp marks a new chapter for the beloved retail destination, bringing together the magic of Pokémon with elements inspired by Singapore’s culture and heritage.

A Temporary Farewell to a Fan Favourite

Since opening in 2019, Pokémon Center SINGAPORE has become one of the most popular Pokémon destinations in Southeast Asia. Located within the iconic Jewel Changi Airport, the store has welcomed countless fans from Singapore and around the world.

Visitors have long flocked to the store for its wide selection of official Pokémon merchandise — from video games and Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products to plush toys, collectibles and bag charms (I'm definitely on of them!).

Over the years, it has grown beyond a retail space, evolving into a lively gathering point for Pokémon fans and collectors, contributing to Singapore’s vibrant pop culture scene.

Now, the upcoming closure signals the next evolution for the store.

A New Pokémon Experience Inspired by Singapore

When the Pokémon Center reopens, fans can expect a refreshed space designed with Singapore’s local culture in mind. The renewed concept will feature installations inspired by local heritage, alongside interior design elements reflecting everyday Singapore life.

In addition to the refreshed design, the store will also introduce an expanded range of merchandise and new shopping experiences, creating a destination that is truly unique to Singapore.

Another exciting highlight is the introduction of a new symbolic Pokémon representing the renewed Pokémon Center. This specially selected Pokémon will embody the unique charm and spirit of Singapore, adding a meaningful local touch to the store’s identity.

Pop-Up Stores While the Center Gets a Makeover

While the main store undergoes renovation, fans will still be able to stay connected with Pokémon through temporary pop-up stores at Jewel Changi Airport and Plaza Singapura for three months.

These pop-ups will feature a curated selection of official Pokémon merchandise and familiar elements from the Pokémon Center experience, ensuring fans can continue to shop and enjoy the brand while awaiting the store’s grand return.

A Bigger Return Coming in 2026

He added that the refreshed Pokémon Center will feature thoughtfully curated products, including limited edition merchandise — alongside an enhanced interior concept designed to delight both longtime fans and first-time visitors.

The newly revamped Pokémon Center SINGAPORE at Jewel Changi Airport is expected to reopen in the third quarter of 2026.

Fans can stay tuned for updates on the official Pokémon Singapore website and Instagram, where more details about the new store concept, exclusive merchandise and upcoming experiences will be announced closer to the reopening.

I'll definitely be sharing more news once I'm updated too.
Stay peeled! 😘

Hello Kitty Black Series Debuts in Singapore: A Sleek Designer Collectible for Kidult Fans

| |

Hi Huneybees,

When you think of Hello Kitty, chances are you picture pastel pinks, bows and all things sweet.

But this time?
She’s trading cute for cool.

The iconic Sanrio character just got a bold makeover with the Hello Kitty “Black Series”, a striking all-black designer figurine collection that has officially landed in Singapore. The launch marks its Southeast Asia debut, following earlier releases in Japan and Korea.

And let’s be clear... this isn’t just another collectible toy.

Standing at 20cm tall, the Hello Kitty Black Series is designed as a high-art figurine for modern collectors and “kidults” who appreciate sleek design pieces with personality.

A Darker, Edgier Hello Kitty

The Hello Kitty “Black Series” is a collaboration between Sanrio and Japanese underground lifestyle label ONE TODAY, conceived by Mikio Suzuki, the brand’s Chief Design Officer.

Suzuki, a Tokyo Zokei University graduate, has spent decades working in Japan’s advertising and creative industry. Over the years, he has explored how beloved animated characters can move beyond toys and become design objects, fashion pieces and collectible art.

With the Black Series, he reimagines Hello Kitty through a more grown-up, contemporary lens. Instead of bright colours and playful details, the figurines feature a minimalist all-black aesthetic, decorated with subtle motifs inspired by themes like Heart, Love and Black.

The result?
A Hello Kitty that feels mysterious, stylish and unexpectedly sophisticated. It’s still the character we know and love, just with a little attitude and edge.

Each figurine is crafted from premium PVC with a refined matte finish, giving it a smooth, tactile feel that highlights the silhouette and design details. Rather than leaning on bright colours or excessive decoration, the series focuses on clean form, bold contrast and sculptural presence.

In other words, this is the kind of Hello Kitty you’d proudly display on a shelf alongside designer toys and art pieces, not just keep in a toy box.

Where to Find It in Singapore

The Hello Kitty “Black Series” figurines retail for SGD 229.90 each and are available at selected ActionCity stores across Singapore, including:

  • ActionCity Bugis Junction

  • ActionCity Jewel Changi Airport

  • ActionCity Marina Bay Sands

  • ActionCity Takashimaya

  • ActionCity VivoCity

  • BLAXK by ActionCity (Funan)

Collectors can also purchase them online via the ActionCity website.

A Different Side of Cute

Hello Kitty has always been known as the queen of kawaii, but the Black Series proves that even the cutest icon can embrace a darker, more modern side.

For collectors and design lovers, it’s a refreshing reinterpretation of a global pop culture icon; and possibly one of the coolest Hello Kitty collectibles we’ve seen in a while.

Also… if your Valentine’s gift didn’t quite hit the mark this year, this might just be the ultimate make-up gift. Because honestly... who can resist a stylish Hello Kitty with a little dark energy?
