How To Achieve Glass Skin With Problematic Skin?

The talk of the town these days is the K-beauty trend - Glass Skin. We are talking about achieving that perfectly smooth and intensely hydrated complexion with an all-over sheen, just like your window pane. It's a sign of healthy and youthfulness, which everyone is dying to have.

When I first saw pictures of the trend, I was thinking, "NO WAY! I have scars and acne, moreover with my eczema patch, there is no way I can achieve that look. Moreover, Singapore's sweltering hot weather will make me melt the moment I step out of the house!"

But being a beauty lover, how can I just give up that way? I tried ways and means to combine skincare with a little play-cheat makeup and I think I've got it. One thing I learned from this is that simply relying on makeup alone will not work, you need a consistent skincare routine, religiously following through with it and together with makeup, then you can show off your flawless skin. This is something that can't be achieved overnight, but patience my dears, in just days, you can see the difference!

Above is how I managed to achieve that Glass Skin look, I hope this helps you all with problematic skin troubles like me, in achieving that flawless looking skin. You can now cancel out those filter and beautifying effects on your smartphone cameras and app.

This NYX Eyeshadow Palette Might Just Give Urban Decay's Naked Heat A Run For Its Money

The social media has been heating up with the launch of Urban Decay's Naked Heat eyeshadow palette. I've not gotten my hands on it yet, but there's already tons of photos and swatches out there. It's mainly 12 shades of different kinds of matte and shimmery browns that reminds me of autumn rather than heat. I was hoping for a little more orange or red tones though...

And as you know, the UD Naked palettes normally retails around SGD83 at Sephora stores in Singapore, which can be a little steep. So, I've might have found another eyeshadow palette from NYX that might give the UD one a run for its money at simply SGD32! 

I found this lovely palette whilst popping into Sephora to find out the launch date for the UD palette and boy, was I super happy to have found the NYX Perfect Filter Shadow Palette in Rustic Antique.

Though 2 eyeshadow shades short from the UD Naked Heat, I would have rather named this palette the Heat palette instead. There are some similar shades on both palettes, but the NYX one has more difference shade tones, making it more fun to create more looks and of course, there's the orange and red tones I was looking for. 

And if you have tried NYX's eyeshadows before, you will know that they are highly pigmented, easy to blend and definitely on par with a lot of other popular brands of makeup of there. So, below is a side by side comparison of both palettes.

I think the UD palette allows one to create gorgeous smokey brown eyes, but as you can see from the look I created below, the NYX palette makes the eyes pop with much more dimension and colours. This is, of course, a more dramatic look, but I think you can easily create day to night look, 7 days a week, without having to repeat the looks at all. I even managed to use the shades to fill my brows, work as blusher and contour my face!

[What's New] Sephora's Christmas Preview Party 2013

Nothing thrills me more than a Christmas party of beauty galore! Before I flew to NZ, I was invited to the Sephora's Christmas Bardock Boudoir preview. Lady Barock is here to show us what to expect for the coming month!

Before I head on spamming you with all the beauty "candies", here's a little intro of the new collections and who is Lady Barock?

One of the highlight would have to be this Makeup Academy Palette. It has to be every makeup fanatic's dream! Other than opening up like a staircase, you can find almost every single shade of eyeshadow and lipcolour, coming complete with a mirror and applicators.

Other than just the Sephora in-house label, there were more from the brands that they carry. Urban Decay not only introduced their new Vice 2 palette, which I've been using alot lately, they also introduced their other products like the glitter eyeliner - Urban Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner and Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder for Face and Body.

The party girl in me couldn't get more excited than glitter makeup and it was lovely to have Steve Kassajikian around to help me with it!

For Stila, they have decided to bring us back to school on a art class. Everything inspired by art, you can simply look at bringing your very own "watercolour palette" everywhere you go!

Even Burt's Bees and fresh has their very own Christmas packaging and gift sets. Just aren't they lovely gifts?

Bare Minerals, which are well known for their foundation and flawless face finish has got me hooked onto their new holographic lipstick! Sadly, it won't be sold seperately, but I guess a girl can never have enough of her eyeshadows and mascaras eh?

Too Faced has been a favourite brand of mine. Their eye primer are simply lovely and if you see their upcoming Christmas lovelies this year, you would be yearning like I did! :)

Tarte (I've missed out this booth as they were already packing up, so I have some pictures here taken from Nadia aka nadnut). After hearing so much about this brand, I am super happy they are finally here!

I was a little too late when I reached this booth. They have already started packing, but come on, with Katie Holmes as the "Covergirl", how can you not feel pampered like a star eh? 

For nails, you girls would be familiar with brands like Ciaté, Nails Inc and Butter London. You are in for a treat this Christmas!

Nails Inc have this beautiful nail tips for you to paste and go for parties within minutes, the new Gel finishing nail polishes, foil nail polishes and Fibre Optic glitter nail polishes.

Ciaté has an extensive range like the Advent Calender that would surprise you with a nail polish every day in December and the one that I loved most would have to be the metallic 3D caviar nail set. The ball bearings are bigger and slightly heavier, but they are simply gorgeous!
