Hi Huneybees,

Embrace the shift from Radiant Rooster to Dazzling Dragon this Lunar New Year with these captivating luxury brand collaborations. Dive into the festive spirit and start your celebratory shopping!

KENZO LUNAR NEW YEAR COLLECTION 2024

The KENZO Lunar New Year Collection, curated by the Artistic Director Nigo, presents an extensive range of ready-to-wear items adorned with vibrant, retro-inspired depictions of the dragon. From various accessories to apparel for both men and women, including gender-neutral options, KENZO ensures a delightful experience during this festive season.

Given the dragon's historical significance as a symbol of auspiciousness, imperial power, and good fortune, the collection pays tribute to this enduring element of Chinese culture and echoes the timeless graphic patterns evident throughout KENZO's creative legacy.

Embracing the cultural significance of the number "8" as the luckiest digit in China, the collection playfully incorporates it into denim, woven, knit, and jersey garments, as well as accessories. The assortment is completed with stylish and whimsical accessories such as a small pouch, card holder, baseball cap, and keyring, all featuring Lunar New Year dragon graphics through stamping or embroidery.

LOEWE JADE COLLECTION

Renowned for its exquisite beauty and enduring nature, jade held a significance surpassing even that of gold, symbolizing virtues such as goodness, intelligence, prosperity, and luck. LOEWE's Jade collection pays homage to the masterful art of carving, spanning from ancient to contemporary times. This assortment encompasses bags, charms, and fine jewelry dedicated to the intricate craftsmanship and diverse colors found in Chinese jade sculptures. The collection's campaign, lensed by David Sims, features Chinese actress and Global Brand Ambassador Yang Mi.

Jade, with its subtle hues, mysterious veining, and lustrous sheen, boasts a rich history in China, serving ceremonial, ornamental, and practical purposes for millennia. To mark the Lunar New Year in February, LOEWE collaborated with master jade carvers Xiaojin Yin, Qijing Qiu, and Lei Cheng. Each expert crafted a series of five limited-edition pendants, individually hand-carved and mounted on an 18-carat gold chain.

Xiaojin Yin's Emerald Green pendant, depicting a cabbage with a cricket perched atop, holds cultural significance as bok choy, a cultivated Chinese vegetable, symbolizes wealth and abundance. Qijing Qiu's Light Mauve pendant features an eggplant, believed to resemble a hat-wearing high-ranking official, symbolizing status and success. Lei Cheng's Spring Jade pendant, a pea pod adorned with a snail, carved from near-flawless jade, symbolizes fertility, abundance, and luck.

Extending the rare craft of the pendant series, LOEWE introduces a collection of Flamenco Purse Mini bags. Inspired by the hues of carefully chosen antique jade carvings, colors such as Emerald Green, Dark Brick, Spring Jade, Sugar Yellow, Dark Khaki, and Light Mauve grace these bags. The Flamenco bags, with their orb-like shape and ruched nappa leather, house a special inside pocket containing a precious ring of jade stone in a matching color, symbolizing good luck for the approaching new year.

MCM x BAPE COLLECTION

This Lunar New Year, the renowned German luxury fashion house MCM collaborates once again with the trailblazing Japanese streetwear giant *A BATHING APE® (BAPE®), creating a highly anticipated capsule that is a must-have for fashion enthusiasts and contemporary streetwear followers who adopt a style approach transcending seasons, gender, and age.

Building on the excitement generated by their inaugural collaboration in 2019, these two iconic brands join forces anew to redefine the aesthetics and attitude of luxury streetwear, commemorating the Year of the Dragon for the first time.

Infused with an inspiring blend of style, individuality, and an unrestrained spirit of innovation, this much-anticipated collaboration elevates the realm of luxury streetwear by marrying MCM's rich heritage of artisanship and mobility with BAPE®'s dynamic creativity.

Featuring MCM's iconic silhouettes, including ready-to-wear, the Boston, the handheld pouch, and more, the collection showcases a bold exploration of patterns, playful graphic applications, and the fusion of BAPE®'s infamous shark motif with MCM's signature Visetos. At the heart of the collaboration, the notorious BAPE STA™ logo takes center stage, adorned with a golden dragon, embodying unapologetic confidence and irreverent style for the new year.

Aside from the exclusive Lunar New Year collaboration, don't miss MCM's SS24 collection, a testament to the brand's reclaimed iconoclastic ethos. Titled "Made for Movement," the collection reimagines accessories for expanded versatility, featuring innovative materials. Ready-to-wear embraces comfortable urban sportswear in travel-ready, wrinkle-free fabrics, transcending conventional workwear and leisurewear classifications for any occasion. Exploring MCM's heritage since 1976, the collection deconstructs the classic Visetos pattern into iconic Laurel and Diamond motifs, MCM lettering, and the signature Cognac colorway. Focusing on size and scale, these design codes forge a new visual identity, bridging the past and future as a badge of independence for today's value-driven consumer—a true Zeitgeist.

FENDI X FRGMT x POKEMON

Pokemon enthusiasts will be eager to capture Fendi's capsule collection, cleverly featuring the dragon-type characters Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite from the Japanese franchise.

This collaboration involves the Italian luxury label, The Pokemon Company, and Fragment (FRGMT) – the streetwear line by Japanese designer and musician Hiroshi Fujiwara, known as the godfather of streetwear.

Spanning across Fendi's bag lineup, from the Peekaboo to the iconic Baguette and the less-known By The Way Mini, the Pokemon characters introduce a vibrant burst of color to the brand's classic brown and tobacco palette. This lively theme extends to men's accessories, ready-to-wear items, scarves, and jewelry.

A standout in the collection is the beaded Baguette, adorned with intricate beadwork forming the FF motif and depicting Pokemon in all three evolutionary stages. Enhanced with an FF clasp featuring metal wings and a multicolored beaded fringe, this piece is a true collector's item.

BOTTEGA VENETA

Deviating from a literal approach in its Chinese New Year capsule collection, the Italian luxury brand has opted to infuse a celebratory flair into some of its renowned bags by incorporating vibrant color schemes and intricate details reminiscent of dragon "scales."

The brand skillfully integrated dragon elements into its distinctive Intrecciato weave pattern, particularly in the Sardine, Andiamo, and Jodie bags. A subtle observation is necessary to catch the protruding spikes and the dragon-tail handle adorning the Mini Jodie. Additionally, dragon-inspired earrings with spikes and a matching necklace are also part of the collection.

MOSCHINO

Marking the occasion, the Italian fashion house pays tribute to Bubble and Bobble, the beloved dragon characters from the vintage Japanese arcade game created by Taito in 1986. The celebratory collection includes dresses, T-shirts, sweatshirts, bags, and shoes adorned with the cheerful twin brothers and their eclectic group of friends.

MAX MARA CHINESE NEW YEAR COLLECTION

Max Mara joyously commemorates Lunar New Year 2024 through an enchanting narrative featuring Max the Dragon and his faithful companion, Little Ted. Their adventurous journey unfolds in the scenic landscapes of Fjords and wildflower meadows. The wardrobe showcased draws inspiration from the traditional festivities of Chinese New Year, displaying a lively palette of red hues and floral prints evocative of Scandinavian wildflower gardens.

This selection is not only influenced by the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations but also draws from the captivating realm of "Scandidragon," the mythical hero in ancestral tales embraced by our stylish protagonists, Max the Dragon and Little Ted. From this harmonious blend of fashion flights and folkloric fantasies emerges a collection infused with the romance of fjords and the majestic splendor of Chinese New Year celebrations.

Max Mara presents a meticulously curated array of pieces in timeless black and vibrant scarlet. The lineup includes a short Teddy Bear Coat and other glamorous jackets in rich red tones, featuring linings dedicated to the Year of the Dragon. Printed shirts and floral knitwear pay homage to Scandinavian wildflower garlands, while shiny brooches add the finishing touch to this captivating ensemble.

COACH
In celebration of the event, the American fashion brand enlisted the talents of Chinese artist Lian Yang to infuse traditional Chinese art forms and imagery into its Year of the Dragon collection. Hailing from Beijing, Yang incorporates the ancient technique of mineral rock painting into her artistic practice.
For Coach, she delved into this art form, crafting a dragon print that incorporates symbolic elements such as clouds and lotus flowers. This unique design is featured on selected ready-to-wear items. The whimsical creature gracefully adorns the New Year Rogue 25 with a Dragon and graces the packaging of the Micro Box Set, which includes four mini Coach bags.

TOD'S 2024 YEAR OF THE DRAGON COLLECTION

Tod's introduces a special 2024 Year of the Dragon Collection, drawing inspiration from the Chinese zodiac to commemorate the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities. The Italian brand's iconic leather accessories, now in rich burgundy tones, showcase a distinctive double dragon motif as a nod to the approaching new year. Crafted with meticulous Italian expertise, the collection combines soft leather and contrasting color stitching details, welcoming the arrival of Spring and celebrating the Chinese New Year with signature silhouettes.
This exclusive collection comprises three of Tod’s shoes – the Gommino Bubble, Tod’s sneaker, and Tod’s leather loafer – each adorned with a double dragon motif surrounding Tod’s logo on their inner soles. Additionally, the iconic Tod’s Shopping Bag features a double dragon motif on its internal leather pouch. The collection extends to include matching leather charms featuring the dragon’s head and Tod’s scented candle for a fragrant home ambiance.
LORO PIANA 2024 LUNAR NEW YEAR CAPSULE COLLECTION
For those who appreciate subtlety in ushering in good fortune, the Italian brand's pastel Capsule Collection offers an ideal choice. Paying homage to the dragon, symbolizing power, good luck, and wisdom for the 2024 Lunar New Year, the collection incorporates details inspired by oriental culture. Embroidered or stylized dragon motifs grace clothing and accessories crafted with Maison's exclusive yarns, including Baby Cashmere, Cashmere double, eco cashmere moulinè, and Sea Island cotton jersey.
Presented in a refined palette of pastel colors, ranging from lilac to pink and pale blue to aquamarine, notable pieces from the Capsule Collection include the Elbert jacket, the Halona cape, the Extra Pocket bag, the Baseball Hat, and feminine garments adorned with the timeless Lunar Paisley print. The Summer Walk suede shoes are elegantly enhanced with a dragon charm. The Collection is complemented by the Spagna Jacket for both men and women, along with t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, scarves, and soft stuffed toy dragons.

DELVAUX

Renowned as the world's oldest fine leather luxury goods company, the Belgian luxury brand has infused an endearing charm into its Cool Box bag. Constructed from soft Taurillon calfskin featuring two-tone embossed leather marquetry, this special Chinese New Year edition boasts a delicate pink hue, aptly named Bloom, and is adorned with a dragon silhouette. The bag is further distinguished by two top handles and the signature D-buckle, completing this whimsically quirky piece.

French Haute Couturiers Heat Up FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013

| |
*This is a repost of my scheduled post. It got lost in translation when I was in NZ*

Hi Huneybees,

Tracing back to FIDé Fashion Weeks on the all French Haute Couturier night, everyone was treated to 3 collections of high fashion, custom fitted clothings that exuded all kinds of luxury and fine taste.

The first to present that night was French Haute Couturier Alexis Mabille, showcasing his A/W 2013/14 collection. The collection has the mood, colour palette and silhouettes inspired by Giovanni Boldinian Italian genre and portrait painter

Dark lighting with washed hues of dove grey, faded pink and mint and touches of gold and silver set the stage and Alexis created movement in his gowns through the use of shapes and volumes and not forgetting his signature bow motif applied on almost every ensemble. It was as though looking at pieces of frames art walking right to our faces. Simply beautiful and flattering for very model.

The second to show was from On Aura Tout Vu by Livia Stoianova and Yassen Samouilov

The show was different from the usual as they decided to switch it up by showing part of their A/W 14 collection in the beginning and part of their S/S 13 collection for the second half. So the audience got to see the ‘dark’ before transiting into ‘light’.

The highlight would have to be the shimmery "beetle" dresses. Beetle wings were cleverly attached to create shapes and forms while plexiglass were specially cut out to create the ‘cerebral’ and ‘skeletal’ connectors of the human mind and body and attached to the outfits. Who knew the Scarab Beetles from "The Mummy" movie could be so sexy hot!

Most well-known for their stunning jewellery pieces, the On Aura Tout Vu show was a particularly interesting one as clothes took the limelight with crystals taking a backseat. Adding a little more style and "OMPH" than the usual haute couture floor dragging gowns...

The show ended with Emily Hwang walking down the runway in the beautiful white gown by On On Aura Tout Vu and we caught Jeannie Mai interviewing the couple after the show...

Closing the nightwas Julien Fournié. I was super excited to see this collection as I have seen it on production back when I was in Paris (see the post here), but due to the super dark lighting, quite a bit of details were lost if you weren't upclose to the models. I have tried to lighten the photos here, so hopefully you can see as much details as possible...
As a recognised invited member of the La Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, Julien Fournié has worked with brands such as Celine and Jean Paul Gaultier. Showing 22 looks, his silhouette is that of an elongated feminine form, very much inspired by the Italian painter and sculptor, Modigliani, it is also to depict the mythical animal, Chimera.

Colours run the gamut of chocolates, inspired by the palette of Austrian symbolist painter, Gustav Klimt. He showed sinuous silhouettes and exaggerated the elongation with sky-high stilettos by Walter Steiger, strategically-placed crystals, leather strips, fur trims and hand-painted prints by his good friend, artist Anbraude. It is an all new collection, a darker side of Julien, very much different from the collection he showcased last year with all the disco fun.

It was a gorgeous night of luxury and fashion, do stay tuned for me updates on FIDé Fashion Weeks.
