Come Join In Hotel Jen Singapore Turns One Celebrations This 31 March

| |
Hi Huneybees,

Hotel Jen Singapore will be celebrating their 1st 'birthday' tomorrow 31 March 2016 and you are invited to join her at her birthday celebration.

Hotel Jen is the newest brand of the Shangri-La Group with both Hotel Jen Tanglin and Hotel Jen Orchardgateway in Orchard Road vicinity to hosts our guests. This reminds me of my anniversary staycation with hubby at the Hotel Jen Tanglin. Click here to read about my staycation at Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore.

All nine cities across the Asia-Pacific region will celebrate together - from a quirky Mat Hatters Tea Party in Beijing, and street art inspired menus in Brisbane to an Infinity Cool pool party in the Maldives. In Singapore, we definitely have to show our Merlion warmth in Singapore Style too!

We Are One Party at Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore & Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore:
• Date: 31st March 2016
• Time: 6:00pm – 9:30pm
• “Hawker” themed buffet dinner from 6:00pm at J65 and Makan@Jen
• Cake-cutting at 8:30pm at BayWatch@Jen, Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore
• Price: $31.00++ per adult. Children aged 6 – 12 half price.

Both Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore and Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore invite guests to join the celebrations on 31st March, where they will be hosting a Hawker themed buffet dinner in their restaurants J65 and Makan@Jen.

The concurrent celebration buffet dinners will kick-off from 6.00pm, featuring famous hawker stall favourites in addition to their usual international buffet. Makan@Jen will be highlighting traditional Bak Kut Teh by Song Fa.

As part of its commitment to embracing local talent in the food and beverage industry, J65 at Hotel Jen Tanglin will be showcasing pop-ups from Singapore food heroes:
• The Hungry Bazterdz will be serving their famous Grilled Soy Garlic Chicken with Truffle Fries/ Nacho Fries as well as Jerk Chicken and fries
• Uncle G Handmade will be dishing up his signature crispy roast pork
• The new Kaffles specialty waffle shop will whip up a choice of Buttermilk and Thai milk tea waffles with maple syrup, mini cone and icing sugar
• Resident Hotel Jen coffee specialist Nomad the Gallant Coffee will be offering refreshing Thai Iced Tea.

A complimentary shuttle bus will be running between the two hotels from 6:00pm – 8:00pm for guests to celebrate ‘That Jen Feeling’ - which will culminate in a cake cutting party at Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore at the rooftop bar, BayWatch@Jen, at 8:30pm. The huge cake will be infused with local flavours, fragrances and decorations, giving a true taste of the Lion City.

So, be sure to make a date and join in the fun! :)

Challenge Accepted! Singapore Food Lovers & SingTel Invite Gordon Ramsay to Challenge the Nation’s Favourite Hawkers

| |
Hi Huneybees,

A group of Singapore’s best-known and most respected food bloggers, with the support of SingTel, have today formally challenged Michelin-starred Chef Gordon Ramsay (the chef from Hell's Kitchen) to take on Singapore’s most beloved hawkers in a culinary contest.

Should Chef Ramsay accept the challenge, he will pit his skills against three popular hawkers who will be selected through a public poll hosted on the HungryGoWhere website.

The contest will determine if Singapore’s hawker fare can match up to the standards of the prestigious Michelin guide, which has become the benchmark for culinary excellence around the world.

The challenge is in response to recent concerns of a decline in local hawker culture and whether international recognition, such as Michelin-starred accreditation, would encourage fresh talent to join the trade and preserve Singapore’s hawker heritage. There has also been much debate on whether Singapore hawkers have the necessary qualities to take on Michelin-starred chefs like Gordon Ramsay. Read more about it here.

Snippets of the challenge via Twittersphere.

The food bloggers who have joined hands to issue the challenge are no strangers to the local food scene. Namely: Dr Leslie Tay (iEatiShootiPost), Daniel Ang (Daniel’s Food Diary), Catherine Ling (Camemberu), Philip Lim (Keropokman), Karen Wee (SuperFineFeline), Melissa Koh (Melicacy) and Rayner Ng (HisFoodBlog).
