Huney'Z World: Esmeralda

During the National Day weekend, the World’s Second-Tallest Sailing Ship, Esmeralda (Chilean Navy training ship) docked in Singapore for the 2nd time. It was at Vivocity and I went with my hubby, parents and we brought my cheeky little nephew along .

The night it was berthed, I was just having dinner with hubby, so we kinda went papparazzi while the sailors onboard the ship partied....

Esmeralda is the four-masted barquentine tall ship of the Chilean Navy and currently the second-tallest and longest ship in the world. As part of its 57th voyage around the world, Esmeralda, manned by its 353 crew members docked in Singapore for the second time.

For the next 2 days, Esmeralda was free for public to board and have a feel of what's it like to be on a Navy Ship...

Commissioned in 1954, The Esmeralda, also known as the ‘White Lady’ has travelled over 60 countries, serving the Chilean Navy as a sail training vessel and an ambassador of Chilean culture to each port it visits. She is the sixth ship to carry the name, which represents one of the most celebrated milestones of Chile’s naval history.

Singapore marked the sixth stop of Esmeralda’s 10-port voyage, which will take 260 days and more than 30,000 nautical miles to complete. She docked in Singapore after departing from Bali, Indonesia, on 29 July and left Singapore for Mumbai, India on 14 August. Esmeralda has a mast height of 48.5 metres and is 113 metres in length.

Thank you Vivocity forhaving such a great event. It was amazing to be onboard a ship so big, learning about a naval ship (psst, hubby used to be in Navy and he shared his stories and knowledge. Yeah) and yes, seeing so many suave guys.
