I Was Just 5mm Away From This Gorgeous Gem...

Hi Huneybees,

Between me and the extremely rare 51-carat certified intense Yellow Diamond was just a mere 5mm distance, when I had have the privilege to photograph this rare jewelry piece at DeGem at this year's Singapore International Jewelry Expo (SIJE) 2017!

Equally rare and impressive was the single 10-carat certified natural unheated Burma pigeon blood Ruby, my favorite gemstone of all time, presented in a diamond ring setting by DeGem, which even eclipsed its Burma Ruby necklace weighting in at 82-carat in total  presented at last year's expo!

With more than US$150 million in exhibits spread over 8000 square metres, SIJE is not just a trade show for the rich and famous but also a gathering place for world's leading jewelers to showcase their stunning jewelry designs and breathtaking gemstones for the public to appreciate the creativity and fine craftsmanship in jewelry making.

Singapore has its fair share of the spotlight with creations from some of our best known local jewelers. The likes of Carotell and Simone Jewels have been participating since the inauguration of SIJE and I must say their creativity and craftsmanship have never failed to amaze me and this year was no exception.

Michael, the designer behind his creations at Carotell Pte Ltd.

The central piece of Carotell's presentation is the " Spider Orchard", which consisted of a gold pendant that shaped like an orchard and a necklace made up of turquoise and pearl.

The "2-in-1" Ring-Pendant inspired by The Starry Night painting by Vincent Van Gogh

Another two creations that I really like at Carotell after speaking to the creator, Michael, were the "2-in-1" Ring-Pendant inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's The Starry Night and the Beauty & The Beast pendant inspired by the recent Disney Movie.

From Simone Jewels was a beautiful unheated Tanzanite setted within a finely carved Quartz and adorned with Tussle-Mussies (early 1400s for small, round bouquets of herbs and flowers with symbolic meanings) that was inspired by the Georgian period with a modern touch.
The owner of this one and only masterpiece could have a picture of his/her choice laser inscribed to make this a truly majestic gift!

Among the 200+ exhibitors from 26 countries at this year SIJE, I was drawn to Italian Jeweler, Gabriella Rivalta Oro Minato or Finely drawn/painting on gold jewels. Every piece was hand painted with enamel and had to undergo more than 800 Degree Celsius of heat treatment to create such a beautiful jewel.

Do not miss out at the region's largest consumer jewelry show.
SIJE opens from 6th to 9th July 2017 at Marina Bay Sands Singapore Expo & Convention Centre, Hall A & B, from 11:30am to 8:30pm (last day is till 7pm).

Have a lovely weekend!

Rare 950-ct Natural Unheated Burmese Ruby Rough at the Singapore International Jewelry Expo 2015

Hi Huneybees,

You probably have already read this from newspaper or saw this on TV but you really got to see this 950 caret Natural Unheated Burmese Ruby Rough, presented by DeGem, once in your lifetime as it looks simply awesome and is currently deemed priceless for its size!

Together with The Million Dollar Row, a special showcase of rare diamond jewelry pieces ranging from USD1.5million and upwards by IVY Masterpiece, these are two of many highlights at this year's Singapore International Jewelry Expo 2015, showcasing over US$150 million in exhibits by 200 exhibitors from 26 countries, spanning a gross area of 8,000 square meters in Marina Bay Sands Singapore Expo & Convention Centre!

Apart from the two mentioned above, Huney'Z World would also recommend that all Huneybees take a look at the following intricate jewelry pieces:

Ever Foliage by Carotell, Singapore, retailed at S$280,000
This latest jadeite collection from Carotell, inspired by a traditional Chinese painting of a pine tree(), an Ever Green Tree, which symbolizes for longevity. It has been selected as the winner for the Creative Asean Jewellery Competition 2015 in Singapore.

Reversal Kingdom by Simone Jewels, Singapore, retailed at S$48,000
As the name suggests, this jewelry pendant, decorated by numerous types of precious gemstones, could be wore on either side, each has a different look. Inspired by The Arabian Nights, only one such design has been made and it has a golden songbird positioned in middle of the pendant, which could actually be rotated by a turn of the dial!

Pinnacle of the Ocean by DeGem, Malaysia, retailed at US$2million

This 38-carat unheated Burmese Sapphire is perched majestically at the top, perfectly set in place against the diamond embellished, blackened gold ring. Certified by the Gem Research Swisslab, this
natural sapphire boasts a glorious cornflower blue hue that is so rich and intense – making this jewellery piece the centre of attention among all the other exhibits.

My visit to this glittering enormous spectacle, which is expected to draw 15,000-strong throng of visitors over the weekend, is making me seeing twinkle twinkle little stars literally when I close my eyes to sleep tonight.

Get Your Bling On At The Singapore International Jewelry Expo (SIJE) 2014

Hi Huneybees,

Diamonds are a girl's best friend and that cannot be denied! I love my blings and I'm excited to tell you that the Singapore International Jewelry Expo (SIJE) is coming to Marina Bay Sands Singapore from July 3 to 6, 2014. This year, not only the girls will get pampered, it's also time for the guys to get their bling on!

SIJE brings together leading local and international jewelers, manufacturers and suppliers to showcase a truly spectacular trove of jewelry, gems and accessories to both members of the trade and the public. Against a backdrop of the beautiful Singapore skyline dramatically set against the water and the sky, the 2014 event celebrates the theme, ‘Jewels in Color’ inspired by the colorful, beautiful and exquisite display of jewelry from around the world. The show focuses on the latest trends on jewelry crafted in the beauty of gold, white, yellow, rose, purple and black, and encrusted in the widest range of precious stones of all hues. The vibrancy and glittery of the show pieces will be complemented by an exciting line-up of event highlights including two jewelry fashion shows.

The organizer has worked tirelessly for twelve months to commission some of the most exquisite and affordable jewelry from jewelers from all over the globe, for buyers here in Singapore. They range from S$59 to S$8,000 and are crafted by some of the most talented jewelers from Italy, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore and more

One of the highlight has got to be the exceptionally rare 50.55 carats white diamond. Luxe jeweller DeGem will be featuring this amazing 50.55 carat white diamond with sparkle and brilliance, nicknamed as ‘The White Fire’. It is certified D color, the highest possible color grading for colorless diamonds and is almost flawless with very, very slight inclusions that go virtually unnoticed, and possess no fluorescence at all. The cut is of finest proportions, allowing the diamond to display spectacular fire metrics with a balanced and cohesive sparkling pattern.

The cushion cut is regarded as the original cut for faceted diamonds, and remains one of the most beautiful and endearing cut for diamonds till today. Many of the most world’s most famous and important diamonds are cushion-cuts, including the blue Hope Diamond (45.52 cts), the Regent Diamond (140.5 cts) and many of the Cullinan diamonds. Although cushion cut diamonds are becoming more popular again, it is estimated that only 5% of diamonds in the market are cushion cut. In addition to its already impressive list of stats, the White Fire has been examined and determined to be a Type IIa diamond, a class of diamonds known to be the world’s most chemically pure.

Amongst the tons of rare, natural, colored gemstones, you can also find the exquisite pair of diamond earrings in White Gold from IVY Masterpiece. The S$1 million dollar earrings are made up of a cushion cut 10.03 carats Fancy Intense Yellow diamond, a 2.07 carats white cushion diamond, a 8.05 carats white cushion cut diamond and a 2.02 carats yellow cushion cut diamond.

Pink diamonds were the hottest color for diamonds in 2013 with two record-breaking specimens selling at auction. In April 2013, Christie’s New York sold the storied ‘Princie’ diamond, a rare 34.65-carat pink Golconda diamond, for US$39.3 million, the highest price ever paid for a Golconda diamond at auction. Six months later in November, Sotheby’s Geneva sold the ‘Pink Star’, a 59.60-carat oval-cut Fancy Vivid pink diamond, for US$83.19 million, setting a slew of new records, a world record price for a diamond, colored diamond or any jewel sold at auction. You have got to check out the rare 5-carat pink diamond that's priced at USD350,000 from jeweler, Yuli Inc.

There will also be a series of talks by industry experts on gemstones, jewelry, fashion and trends. Industry experts include Dr Ahmadjan Abduriyim, GIA Laboratory and Mr Gautam D Goradia CEO/MD, Hayagriva Software for Safety Enhanced software COM-SUR. And the opening ceremony will be graced by Guest of Honour, Dr Lily Neo, Member of Parliament, Tanjong Pagar GRC.

So, be sure to hop on over and have your pick! :)
