LUX Aims to Change Feminine Identity With 'In Her Name’ to Celebrate Its 100 Years Anniversary

LUX, the renowned beauty brand under Unilever, is thrilled to unveil its latest campaign, 'In Her Name', in celebration of its 100th anniversary. This initiative aims to empower women by addressing and overcoming sexist stereotypes associated with their names. With a vision to reshape societal perceptions for future generations, the campaign sheds light on the unconscious bias prevalent in the naming of children in China.

Traditionally, certain names chosen for children reinforce gender stereotypes, with girls often receiving names like "Quiet" and "Small" to signify perceived traits of demure femininity, while boys are given names like "Strong" and "Victory" to convey notions of dominance. Through interviews with women from diverse backgrounds, firsthand experiences revealed how societal norms surrounding names can impact their identities, leading to unfair treatment and unrealized potential.

The 'In Her Name' campaign by LUX seeks to revolutionize the naming conventions for women by introducing 100 names that embody the essence of femininity in contemporary society. Drawing inspiration from classical literature, positive associations, and the evolving landscape of societal progress, LUX has collaborated with Dr. Liu Yanchun, a distinguished linguistics scholar from the University of China, to spearhead a movement challenging societal norms and stereotypes. This collaboration ensures a meticulous selection process, offering unbiased options that showcase the diverse spectrum of femininity and promote inclusivity.

LUX also collaborated with digital artists to showcase each selected name through visually stunning illustrations, with a unique design for every name, enhancing the experience of choosing a name and celebrating the beauty of femininity. The unveiling of the 100 new names has taken place on social platforms Little Red Book, Weibo and Douyin. Women from all walks of life could choose new names for themselves that best represent their spirit and character.

To celebrate the launch of Somerset Meadow, Crabtree and Evelyn transformed their outlet at Vivocity into a romantic and whimsical place for us to preview the collection. Pretty floral arches, dainty flowers paired with the stores refreshing mint tea and cookie treats was as though I was at the "Little Women" Tea Party. 

Stepping into the shop, they handed me a flower wreath to place on my head (so princess!). Everything was just so charming and well-arranged. It's as though the Somerset Meadow was right before my eyes!

Now, introducing the STAR – Somerset Meadow. There are a total of 5 products in this range - the Eau De Toilette, Bath and Shower Gel, Body Lotion, Hand Therapy, and a special new product, Perfume Gel that Crabtree & Evelyn has launched for the first time!

The fragrance of Somerset Meadow is very refreshing with scents of sparkling bergamot and blackberry buds, balanced with the bitter greens of ivy and fern. It's fruity and floral blended together and definitely a fragrance for all day and never get sick of.

Top Notes: Bergamot, Morning Dew, English Ivy, Blackberry Bud

Heart Notes: Fern, Geranium, Water Lily, White Blossom

Base Notes: Silver Birch, White Musk, Williow, Moss

I was invited to an exclusive warm gathering of media and bloggers to celebrate 170 years of beautiful skin with Palmer’s - the leading brand in Cocoa Butter skincare.

It was a press event (held at Antoinette in Palais Renaissance) to commemorate Palmer's brand heritage and to introduce its all-time star product – Palmer’s Skin Therapy Oil, in a new convenient pump packaging.

Upon arriving the event, I was greeted by the range of Palmer's products that's visibly displayed at the entrance of the cafe. After the photo taking session, I was ushered into the cosy function room where I was introduced to more of Palmer's products.

Next, is the Skin Therapy Oil, which I love to use on my skin for additional moisturizing and recommend for people with dry skin. The Purifying Mask leaves my skin feeling tight and refreshed and I recommend a weekly use. It will improve the skin condition! 

Lastly, is the Body Lotion with Olive Butter Formula that has the added benefits of Vitamin E and antioxidants. I've always been using this lotion before I sleep every night. Psst, it leaves radiant and refreshed skin the morning after! :)
