Come Celebrate Earth Day 2014 With Vivocity, HarbourFront Centre and ARC

Hi Huneybees,

In the heart of showing love and appreciation to the place we call home, VivoCity, HarbourFront Centre and Alexandra Retail Centre (ARC) will usher in a 6 day campaign from 22 to 27 April 2014, to commemorate Earth Day 2014

This event will kick-start to a series of energy saving initiatives, in a bid to raise greater awareness amongst shoppers to do their part for sustainable living. As part of this year’s efforts, VivoCity has collaborated with LaSalle College of the Arts to showcase unique furniture pieces made from 3,000 recycled drinking bottles, sponsored by Public Utilities Board (PUB). The decorative showcase will be displayed at VivoCity’s South Avenue from 22 to 27 April 2014.
Creative Mall, Centre and Tenant Initiatives
On Earth Day, 22 April, VivoCity and ARC will conserve energy without compromising the comfort or shopping experience of visitors by increasing the air-conditioning by one degree, while HarbourFront Centre will do the same by half to one degree. In addition, VivoCity will also turn off the water feature at The Plaza for a day.
NETS FlashPay Roadshow

Shoppers are encouraged to purchase customized NETS FlashPay cards with Earth Day messages, or exchange their existing EZ-Link for an Earth Day NETS FlashPay card. NETS FlashPay will be having a roadshow at the various locations.

[Contest] Say “Je t’aime maman” With Délifrance’s Delectable Mother’s Day Cakes

Hi Huneybees,

Délifrance sure did an interesting job leading up to Mother's Day to launch their delightful Délifrance cake designed specially for the most important woman in our life - Mummy Dearest!

For a change, Daddy bloggers were invited to Délifrance at ARC (Alexandra Retail Centre) to spend a day with their kids to make a gift for Mummy, letting Mummy get a day off whilst they prepare a little gift for her.

But first things first, let me introduce the 4 specially created cakes for Mother's Day. "Gift Of Love", "Garden Of Love" as well as the "Blossom of Love" that comes in 2 flavours.

"Blossom Of Love" is a surprising flower pot cake. For a change, you ca give mummy an eatable flower that does not wilt! This unique creation is made with love and comes with a choice of vanilla cake with zesty lemon filling or chocolate cake with rich chocolate and Philadelphia cream cheese.

"Garden Of Love" (shown left above) is a refreshing vanilla mango yoghurt mousse cake that is fluffy, smooth and creamy. It is coated with white chocolate and decked in bright chocolate sunflowers that will definitely bring a smile to your mummy's face. The dainty butterfly perched atop the cake symbolizes a mother's gentle and beautiful nature.

"Gift Of Love" (shown right above) is definitely for the chocolate loving mummies out there. Shaped like a present with a big chocolate ribbon on top, I bet mummy will love the present you got her. Made with rich chocolate cake, it is oozing with hazelnut praline, Belgium chocolate mousse and drenched in velvety chocolate ganache. Lined with red petite French macarons like the bright red roses, Mummy dearest would be jumping with joy when she tastes this cake.

Cute right?
So on media launch day, Daddies were to make miniature replicas of the cakes, that can hold special notes for Mummies when they get home.

Actually, ended up Daddies did most of the work, but seeing those kids, maybe it was time for me to have mine too?

At first, I got hubby to join in the fun, but seriously the creative side of me just got control and I also went ahead to go mine...

This was what we did. We had to put it in the Delifrance cup to prevent it from going out of shape before it dries up.

All mothers deserve nothing but the best, so show her how much she is appreciated and surprise her with a scrumptious Délifrance cake this Mother's Day.

Délifrance’s Mother’s Day cakes w ill be available at all Délifrance bakery cafes islandwide (except bake-off at Siglap Centre, Coronation Plaza and Chancery Court) from 19 April 2013 onwards. Two working days advance ordering shall be required for “Gift of Love” and “Garden of Love”. Last day of ordering shall be 9 May 2013.

Prices and items may subject to changes without prior notice. Pictures are for reference only.

Guest service hotline: 6874 9622 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm).

The Pageant then ended off with an evening wear segment.

Vivocity, Harbourfront Centre & Alexandra Retail Centre Go Green

Hi Huneybees,

VivoCity, Singapore’s largest retail and lifestyle destination, HarbourFront Centre and Alexandra Retail Centre (ARC) will undertake a series of initiatives to spur a green movement among shoppers in conjunction with Earth Day this Sunday, 22 April 2012. The drive to raise shoppers’ awareness and unite them to do their part for sustainable living is part of the malls’ on-going commitment towards their green efforts.

On Earth Day, which brings communities worldwide together to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth’s natural environment, the three malls, together with their participating tenants will do their part to conserve energy. Today, the air-conditioning in all of the three malls will be increased by half to one degree Celsius and all water features will not be switched on to reduce energy consumption. Participating tenants from each of the three malls will also reduce their lighting within their stores. Some of the restaurants will adopt the use of candles placed on tables to compensate for the reduced indoor and outdoor lighting. Shoppers visiting these malls can be assured that their comfort and shopping experiences will not be compromised.
“We want to take this occasion to work together as a community and send a message that each one of us can do our part to promote a more sustainable life. It’s not just a gesture. These initiatives undertaken by VivoCity, HarbourFront Centre and ARC all together become an experience that we hope our shoppers will not only remember but also practise. On top of that, for those spending their Sunday in any of the three malls, this would be an ideal moment for parents to share with their children why saving energy is important.” --- Mr Chang Yeng Cheong, General Manager of VivoCity
In addition, shoppers who spend a minimum of $50 on 22 April 2012 will receive an environmentally-friendly shopping bag. Attractive shopping or dining vouchers will also be given to shoppers who are spotted using the bags in any of the three malls.

To enhance on-ground awareness on the promotions happening on Earth Day, VivoCity’s popular weekend roving performers, "Dancing Dolls" will carry placards with green messages. They will be roving through VivoCity to HarbourFront Centre at 4pm and 7pm on the day.

As part of a larger collaborative green effort, the three malls are also working together with other Mapletree properties that include HabourFront Towers One and Two, Mapletree Anson, Mapletree Business City and Merrill Lynch HarbourFront Bank of America, to collect recyclable materials. The recycled materials include paper, old corrugated boxes (carton boxes), plastic waste, aluminium cans, metal waste as well as glass bottles. To-date, 53,337kg of paper has been collected and this is approximately equivalent to saving 20,500 trees.

In its continuous effort towards supporting green causes, ARC will also be organising a Green Living Festival from 1 to 3 June 2012. The event aims to create awareness and educate the public as well as schools on how individuals can contribute to 'living green' at work, in school and also at home. There will be a sale of eco-green products and interactive activities for shoppers visiting the mall during the three-day event.

Let's do our part to save the earth!
