Irene Ang hosted the "Born a Hero" event at TANGS

Irene Ang (who played the popular role of “mother of Ken Chow” in the Ah Boys to Men movies), was spotted hosting the Born a Hero (BAH) celebratory event on 1st July at TANGS at Tang Plaza.

Host, Irene Ang facilitating the Born a Hero panel discussion at the finale event at Tangs@TANG Plaza, featuring Co-Founder of Material World Singapore, alongside three ladies who have each contributed toward Singapore’s defence.

Also at the event were Deborah Tan, Co-Founder of Material World, who initiated the Born a Hero Project, Judy Kong a veteran who volunteered with the Singapore Women’s Auxiliary Naval Service (SWANS), Setoh Wei Leng Born a Hero personality who provided her significant other with moral support as he went through National Service, and Priya Shahane Chief HR Officer with AXA Singapore.

Sponsored by AXA Singapore, Born a Hero (BAH) is a ground-up project by women’s portal, Material World Singapore. Organized as part of the commemoration for the SAF’s 50th anniversary (SAF50), BAH celebrated the unsung heroes behind Singapore’s defence by telling stories of ordinary women who have contributed to the success of the SAF in their own ways.

 
At the event, participants were treated to exclusive discounts and deals – including a $10 TANGS voucher (no minimum spend) for the first 800 registered participants who turned up at the event. Lucky Participants walked home with exciting lucky draw prizes such as Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machines, Lancôme hampers, Kiehl’s hampers, Melissa shoes, and many more!

Opening Night Of 3rd Suit Select Store

People always say "the suit makes the man", a good tailored suit can bring you new to heights, achieving your goals easier and definitely makes you appear smarter, standing out amongst crowd.

Well, Suit Select recently unveiled their 3rd branch at Chinatown Point with a fashion showcase of their Spring / Summer 2013 Collection - Azzuro al Grigio, which translates ‘from blue to grey’.

I attended the event wearing my hubby's shirt, it took him awhile to recognize his own shirt, but I think I wore it pretty well. You think?

Rebranded by world renowned art director - Mr Kashiwa Sato, Suit Select is a brand that excels in both quality and design. The leading suit brand from Japan is penetrating  South East Asia with Singapore as one of its first stops with our robust economy, unique workforce of young men and the increase in women paying more attention to aesthetics and comfort in mind.

Amongst the models were guest appearances from top Asian Stars including Utt, Hunz, The Sign, Irene Ang, Jack Neo, George Young, Daniel Boey, Jimmy T, Shane Mardjuki and the cast of Ah Boys to Men!

Hunz (Isariya Pattraramanop) is one of the contestants from the 2012 singing and star search television programme in Thailand The Star 8. The talented dancer finished third place in The Star 8 and was claimed as Thailand’s Prince of Dance. Everytime he walked the runway, our ears burst with screams of his fans. *WHERE"S MY HEADPHONES?!!!*

On Hunz is the suit in ‘Gravy’ (a mish mash of navy-blue grey). It is the new black for their Spring / Summer 2013 season. There is this wet look to it, definitely a stand out at events, but not one for the daily job suit.

For the busy Singaporean, the Shower Clean Technology suits would be the one for you. No more trips to the drycleaners as they can literally be washed, left to drip dry.  Also the ICESENSE slim-fit suit in fine Italian wool that will keep you up to 25% cooler than a regular suit. Perfect for our weather!

The Black Line is mostly made up of skinny suits for the trendy individuals, revolving around the latest trends in material and parts design, blending functionality with beauty. The Black Line is sleek and moden while on the other hand, the Silver Line focuses on being elegant, curved and comfortable. 

The best way to sum up the 2 lines would be the Black Line is for the Michael "Mike" Ross (starred by Patrick J. Adams in USA television drama series - SUITS) and the Silver Line is for the Harvey Specter (starred by Gabriel Macht in USA television drama series - SUITS).

And for the ladies, we definitely will be able to find suits here for the professional work look, whilst not forgetting creating the slimmer silhouette for us.

The Suit Select at Chinatown Point maintains its signature interior for a customer's easy access to a large variety of choices. The store resembles a massive walk-in closet with a central table where customers can creatively match their suits with shirts, ties and accessories before entering the fitting room. The space is divided into 2 sections according to the concept "2 Lines 2 Prices".

First Ever Non-Denim Levi's 501 Collection

Last weekend, I was at ION Orchard for the Levi's 501 Interpretation - Celebrity Interpretation. It was to celebrate 140 years of the iconic Levi’s jeans and the event was graced by Felicia Chin, Tosh Zhang, Ya Hui & Ian Fang. They showcased their Levi’s 501 interpretation in a fashion parade, as well as a style up for the 8 DAYS Shirtless Guys based on their personal style interpretation, using Levi’s 501 jeans.

Attended the event with hubby and we right before the show, we got an opportunity to grab a picture with the celebs. On them are the latest Spring/Summer 2013 collection, a non-denim Levi’s 501 collection for the first time. Breaking with tradition, yet maintaining the product’s true essence and timeless spirit, the three-piece non-denim collection is available in true chino, chalk blue and mineral red. The brand will also unveil the next generation in Levi’s 501 jeans, which feature subtle and thoughtful changes to the design aesthetic, tailoring the product for the pioneers of today.

In the midst of playing games with the audience and fashion shows, the next generation of Levi’s 501 jeans and non-denim pants did it's magic on the stage too. The celebs wearing them had a slightly tighter silhouette, more comfort around the waist (Come on! Tosh, even breakdance in it!).

The latest jeans will feature slightly larger pockets to store your latest smart phone, and have a shallower yoke for a cleaner aesthetic. They also feature stronger stitching and reinforced belt loops, inseams, buttonholes and cuffs. Craftsmanship and authenticity remain at the forefront, which is why Levi’s 501 jeans also improve with age – molding to the contours of the wearers body overtime and creating a bespoke fit and finish for this perfect classic and timeless jeans.
