Live the Convenient Life @ the Samsung Smart Home

On 2nd October, I was invited to Ritz Carlton Residences for a Samsung event where I was  introduced with some of the latest technology from Samsung as well as its new ecosystem.

The new  Windows 8 IT devices and the premium 75-inch ES9000 LED Smart TV that was newly added to their range of products that enable consumers to lead smarter digital lifestyles and boosting more family interactivity.  

Samsung delivers larger than ever life experience with launch of rose-gold colored 75-inch ES9000 LED Smart TV - The latest addition to its 2012 Smart TV LED line-up, the 75-inch ES9000 meets rising market demand for televisions 60-inches and larger, boosting a unique design concept with a beautiful rose-gold-coloured finish. The ES9000 LED Smart TV is available now at SGD 12,888.

The fascinating thing was that Samsung’s latest range of devices is supported by a network of connections that enable consumers to create and control content. This connected ecosystem is made possible with AllShare - AllShare Play & AllShare Control as well as the new AllShare Cast, and Family Story, exemplifies the key differentiators to Samsung’s convergence strategy.

Family Story

In addition, Samsung’s exclusive service, Family Story, allows families to store and share content through cloud-based storage where family members can share photos, create slide shows, post memos and schedule events. Scenarios were also acted out by the "Wong Family" to help us understand more about the system. Below, we see the son, who is overseas, sending a picture of his new girlfriend to his father who is back in Singapore.

AllShare Play

AllShare Play allows consumers to access their favourite multimedia content from any of their Samsung convergence-enabled devices such as the laptop, Smart TV or tablet. Content is now free to move between devices no matter where they are; whether in the home or outside.

Features include:

• Remote Device Access – Remotely access content on the smartphone, notebook or tablet, regardless of proximity. Now consumers can enjoy videos, music, pictures and documents wherever they go.
• Web Storage Access – Remotely store and access content such as photos or documents from any Samsung convergence-enabled device, such as the smartphone or tablet.

Daddy and Mummy viewing their travel photos in the comfort of their bedroom. Photos stored in mobile can be viewed on the TV within seconds and everyone can see.

• Instant Play – Allows consumers to access pictures, videos and music on their smartphones and display their selection on the Smart TV with just the push of a button.

AllShare Control

AllShare Control redefines the remote control and turns the smartphone into a universal remote for Samsung convergence-enabled devices. Consumers can control their PC, Smart TV and even robotic vacuum cleaner, with their smartphones or tablets.

Hehehehe, that's me playing with the Galaxy Note 10.1 and learning more about the samsung gadgets and system. It's so fun!

Features include:

• All-in-one Control – Turn the smartphone into a multi-device remote control for Samsung PC, robotic vacuum cleaner and Smart TV. All Samsung smart home devices are linked seamlessly with AllShare Control, so all that is needed is to pick up your smartphone and take control.

AllShare Cast

AllShare Cast enables consumers to stream web pages, photos, videos, lessons, games, and more from their mobile devices to their TVs.

• Screen Mirroring – Sometimes, a smartphone’s smaller screen can make it tricky to search the web. But with AllShare Cast, consumers can wirelessly mirror their smartphone’s screen onto another device, like a Smart TV or a monitor, to share it with everyone in the room.

Using the Galaxy Note II, both brother and sister can use their own mobiles as controllers to play the game on screen.

• Interactive Gaming – Looking for ways to enjoy games on your phone with friends? AllShare Cast lets consumers display games from their smartphones on a big screen and converts the smartphone into a controller. Another cool function is the Smart Interaction on AIO. A simple wave of hand, one can easily go through pages on the screen. Below shown is "Mrs Wong" preparing for dinner whilst looking at the recipe. She could easily access each step with a wave of hand, not having to dirty the screen.

Something else to look forward to, would be the Samsung Galaxy Camera. Not only is it an
Android 4.1 device with a large touch screen on one side, it's also a 21x zoom lens on the other, and networking abilities in the middle. That last point is key: one of the big advantages of smartphones is that you can do something with the photo immediately after taking it -- sharing with friends on Facebook etc.
