If you are planning to have a staycation at one of the two Hotel Jen properties in Singapore, a surprise and delight urban adventure awaits you.

Meet Jeno and Jena, the new addition to the already great teams in getting important things done well and delivered in Jen’s distinctive style. These are not your ordinary concierge but two autonomous robots to be deployed by the first brand in the Shangri-La group and also the first international hotel brand in Asia to do so!

Designed and built by Savioke and have been deployed in over 70 dynamic busy environments such as logistics, hotels, office buildings, and high rise apartments for indoor delivery, Jeno and Jena will be stationed at the hotel lobby 24/7 of Hotel Jen Orchardgateway and Tanglin Singapore respectively.

The next time when you placed an order for amenities or local favourites from the in - room dining menu at either of these Hotel Jen in Singapore, you might be served by one of these unmanned and funky Relay robots that can ride elevator, make call to your room upon arrival with your order  and each is equiped with 3D sensitive sensors to avoid obstacle along its path.

Technology simply can't seem to stop amaze me!

Fashion For A Cause At The Digital Fashion Week 2014, Fashion Fights AIDS Charity T-Shirt Launch

It was awesome to catch the Digital Fashion Week 2014, Fashion Fights AIDS Charity T-Shirt launch last week at the orchardgateway. Sometimes, fashion doesn’t always have to focus just on the designers and clothes,  it would mean so much more when what you wear raises a topic for special social cause.

The fashion walk was held in collaboration with AFA Singapore (Action For AIDS). 9 local designers - Depression, Kae Hana, Mash-Up, Max Tan, Pauline Ning, Sundays, Yesah, You You and Yuki Mitsuyasu, worked together to launch a collection of T-shirts. The designs were created to reflect each brand's unique concept whilst raising an outreach initiative to fight against AIDS.

We also got a sneak peek into the designers’ Spring Summer 2015 collections that will be showcased on the runways of Digital Fashion Week at the end of October.

I'm loving what our local designers have presented, so much different styles, textures and colours! 武林大会 @ SECTS SHOP (orchardgateway)

It was a 武林大会 (Martial Arts Symposium) as Fashion heros and heroines met at orchardgateway for the SECTS SHOP opening. It was a friendly meetup with cardboard weapons and pinot noir served in Chinese teacups as we all gathered to celebrate the opening of this multi-label store.

“We didn’t want to create just any other multi-label shop. Instead, we created a concept store with a pugilistic theme – curating brands to represent the ‘masters’ of each fashion genre. You’ll even be greeted with the words ‘WU LIN DA HUI’ when you enter the store’ --- Kenny Lim, designer and co-owner of SECTS SHOP

After debuting at Cineleisure late last year, SECTS SHOP has finally moved into their new home. Founded and curated by Singapore-based designer duo - Kenny Lim and Andrew Loh (Creators of fashion label DEPRESSION). The shop has an eclectic mix of streetwear labels that are new to Singapore with International Menswear brands and Unisex Accessories, Bags, Shoes and even Home Ware!

Some of the exciting brands that are available at Sects Shop are Adlib from Hong Kong, Moheap bags and caps from Spain, cult UK streetwear brand Ivory Jar, Sugarpills tees and sweatshirts from the US, G-Dragon's favourite Korean streetwear brand - Human Potential, Inch Child from Hong Kong that is well loved by HK celebrities, Uuendy Lau and Manique accessories from Hong Kong, cult underground shoe brand YRU, Proef stockings and socks from Japan, URB from Germany, Eye Candle from Taipei and Blackbird incense and perfumes from the US, as well as Antidepressant (Depression’s second line).

But most importantly, the opening was also held in conjunction with the launch of DEPRESSION’s new diffusion line, NOT COOL ENOUGH (NCE). It is Singapore’s first k-pop inspired streetwear brand and it have already released its VERSION 2.0, after a successful sell-out of the first season!

Strut In Style With orchardgateway

Orchard Road’s latest fashion mall orchardgateway celebrates the Great Singapore Sale (GSS) with Strut in Style fashion walk with labels from the mall's tenants - Actually, CYC The Custom Shop, Elle Homme, i.t, Jacob by Sunny Ang, Pudu, rosebullet Edit Tokyo, S2VS, SECTS SHOP, SOME•THINGS by afterlife, SUPERSPACE and Whole9Yards. It was very well received and they have extended 4 more shows this weekend!

Last week's featured brands were Actually, SECTS SHOP and SUPERSPACE and Huney'Z World caught up with the models getting hair and makeup ready at the official hair and make up sponsors Bottega Hair and ritz Salon. It was a fun mix of colours and quirkiness that matches this summer season, be it for work or for play!

The hair and makeup was kept clean and fuss free, totally digging the dark plum lips on the ladies for that extra sophisticated look.

Shoes, shoes, shoes galore as the models get dressed and we caught their fun-loving side, before they make their way down the escalators and onto the permanent 60-metre lighted runway.  The runway is likely the longest permanent runway in a mall, will host fashion shows with dramatic lightworks throughout the year.

Linda Hao (local style icon, one half of duo DJ TWOFACE and the owner of Yesah, that you can find in SUPERSPACE) is the DJ for the fashion showcases and if you SHARED a photo of you and the models at the end of the show, you might get to walk away with some orchardgateway goodies!

The fashion showcase is free admission and if you want to get a good spot, you might want to be there early. 

 

So, be sure to hop on by later for the last couple of shows before it ends like the GSS!
