English singer-songwriter - Ed Sheeran is set to be immortalized with a wax figure at Madame Tussauds Singapore, just in time for his Mathematics tour in the country. This limited-time exhibit will begin on February 1st, featuring the "Perfect" singer's lifelike replica in the Music zone of Madame Tussauds Singapore, where he'll join esteemed figures like Harry Styles, Dua Lipa, and Michael Jackson. Sheeran's wax figure will be among over 80 other celebrity replicas at the attraction.

The wax figure captures the essence of Ed Sheeran's concert persona, appealing to fans seeking an authentic experience. Adorned in his signature hoodie, black pants, and sneakers, and holding his trademark guitar, it faithfully represents his stage presence. The hoodie showcases artwork from his popular 2021 album "=" and its understated appearance will surely strike a chord with his dedicated followers. You are invited to join Ed Sheeran on "stage", strum the acoustic guitar and immerse in the enchanting atmosphere of his charismatic performance.

The arrival of Sheeran's wax figure is just in time for his Mathematics tour at the Singapore National Stadium as well as his intimate show at the Capitol Theatre. Ring in the festive cheer this December as Christmas Wonderland celebrates a decade of wonder as it returns to Gardens by the Bay from 1st December 2023 to 1st January 2024. Presented by Trip.com, the 10th edition of Singapore’s biggest yuletide fair features a supersized fairground with a sensational array of light displays, new carnival rides and more festive activities.

With more than 27,000 square metres to cover, this year’s enlarged fairground comprises three magical zones: Supertree Grove, Frosty’s Fairground at The Meadow, and Gingerbread Grove. You can admire 15 stunning light displays, soak in the holiday cheer with a multi-sensory experience complete with ‘snow’ in the tropics, hop onto new carnival rides, have a go at carnival games, meet Santa Claus, dine on festive fare, catch live performances by local artistes and lots more! 1. SPALLIERA

Taking centre stage at the heart of Supertree Grove is Christmas Wonderland’s main showpiece, the Spalliera. With a design inspired by Mesola Castle in north Italy’s province of Ferrara, this magnificent Italian handcrafted light display is lit by 103,000 bulbs and stands majestically at 20 meters tall – roughly the height of five double-decker buses. Mesola Castle is unique for its four towers that are positioned 45 degrees from the main building, giving the castle a distinct architectural shape. This feature is replicated in the design of the Spalliera.

2. GARDEN RHAPSODY & BLIZZARD TIME

Against the backdrop of the Spalliera, get spellbound during the Garden Rhapsody light and sound show, as the lights on the iconic Supertrees ‘dance’ to favourite Christmas classics. This will be followed by Blizzard Time with a wonderful experience of ‘snow’ in the tropics.

*Daily shows at 7.45pm, 8.45pm, and 9.35pm.

3. LIGHT DISPLAYS

Fresh from a magical voyage and docked at Christmas Wonderland for the holiday season is the Holly Roger ship with its crew of merry pirate elves. Illuminated by approximately 127,000 bulbs, this brand-new 24-metre-long whimsical light display is a sight to behold. 

More new captivating light displays can be found at Merry Lane presented by Trip.com, with installations such as giant snowflakes and Santa’s boot that will make quirky backdrops for your outfit of the day (OOTD).

4. WALK OF LIGHTS

With its kaleidoscopic installation of approximately 75,000 programmable LED lights strung across a 65-meter-long tunnel, this year’s edition of the Walk of Lights presented by CDG Zig is the longest ever. Be mesmerized by the myriad of colours from its programmable LED lights and be sure to have your camera ready for those IG-worthy shots.

6. FESTIVE DINING

Situated between Supertree Grove and Frosty’s Fairground is the newly created Gingerbread Grove, where you can delight your senses in a sweet experience. This quirky sugary-themed zone is a feast for the eyes with a vibrantly lit Gingerbread House set on a field of illuminated candy canes, as well as a pleasure for the palate with dessert stalls.

With twice the number of food outlets this year, you will be spoilt for choice with more treats than ever before. Featuring a variety of cuisine curated by some of Singapore’s popular food and beverage establishments, such as Burger & Lobster, Kebabs Faktory, and Sofnade there is something for everyone with 18 food and beverage outlets at the Supertree Grove and Frosty’s Fairground. 8. CARNIVAL RIDES AT FROSTY’S FAIRGROUND

Get on board the Christmas Train and head over to Frosty’s Fairground at The Meadow, where you can hop onto five amusement rides (Bumper Cars, Flying Dumbo, Meteorite, Carousel, and Christmas Train). More fun awaits at LumiLand, an illuminated playground where there are enchantingly lit seesaws, swings, and LED fixtures for the little ones to enjoy.

Admission to LumiLand is $6 for a 10-minute session. Alternatively, spend $30 (up to 2 combined receipts) from Christmas Wonderland's vendors (excl. rides & games) and get a complimentary 10-minute session. Receipts are to be shown for entry.

Celebrating Mother's Day at Tulipmania @ Gardens by the Bay

By the time this article is out, the event -Tulipmania 2023 might be over already. I'm sharing this post for keepsakes and also a reminder to all to spend more time with your loved ones. 

It's been a while since I took a nature walk and the other day, we dated my mum who's a huge fan of flowers to go to Gardens by the Bay to check out the beautiful tulips from Turkey. As we strolled, we chatted about the times when we travelled together to New Zealand and Australia when I was still a kid. 

Bringing back those memories and comparing my mum now,  caught onto my heartstrings a little. As we grew up, everyone had their own agendas and the family seems to be spending less time with each other. Back then, we could climb ice glaciers, walk through forests, but now both my parents had leg issues, walking at such slow pace, got me thinking time is short, how much more time do we have with each other?

That's why I love going everywhere taking photos, not for social media postings but to keep these memories forever locked in this "time capsule" so that everyone in the family can view too!

Have you been to the Gardens by the Bay before? Seeing all the beautiful brightly coloured florals and soaking in the sun simply makes one so much more refreshed and comfortable. It's nice to take a break sometimes, away from all the phone scrolling, and spend quality time with friends and family. You guys should give it a try too!

Visiting Le Le (叻叻) At River Wonders Singapore

It was the first weekend of 2022, so hubby gave me a surprise and brought us to River Wonders to see the new addition - Baby Panda (Le Le 叻叻). I've been keeping tabs on the newborn via the Zoo's Facebook page and since we are both fans of pandas, how can we miss it when the baby's "for show" now?

It's been raining cats and dogs that day, not only was it a wet day, it was also very crowded with tons of panda fans. The queue went from the panda sanctuary, all the way till the bridge across to the other side of the River Wonders. 

Some people gave up halfway while queuing, but I didn't want to waste the chance, not knowing when hubby will be free again to visit the zoo with me, and how often will you get to see a baby panda?  So we just "fought on" and waited for our turn.

Whilst waiting, we treated ourselves to some panda buns and drinks. There was also some panda themed coffee and desserts but they were require seating at the cafe, so we skipped them. By the time we finished the buns, the queue started moving and we were inching our way towards the sanctuary.

I couldn't hold back my excitement as we got closer and closer to the pandas. As we got to the entrance of the Giant Panda Forest, more information on baby Le Le was on display. You can read about the pandas here - https://www.mandai.com/en/river-wonders/animals-and-zones/giant-panda.html

Upon entering the cold panda sanctuary, we were first greeted by the sleeping red pandas. I remembered them running around the branches when I came by last time to visit Jia Jia and Kai Kai, so I guess it was nap time for them...

Anyway, we were all told to keep 1metre distance away from each group of visitors, keeping tight to the Covid-19 rules. But that also became a little restrictive as we can't linger around to observe the pandas and get more photos... :(

Next, was Kai Kai (Daddy Panda) out showing off his eating skills, enjoying his bamboo meal on his back. He looked so chill at 3pm in the day enjoying his tea break whilst we all queued along his space, taking photos. Wonder if we were there to see the pandas or for them to see how humans queue.....  😰

Jia Jia (Mummy Panda) was on maternity leave, and so her space was empty. You can see her size compared to baby Le Le in this statue above and next came the exciting moment - Baby Le Le's time!

Tucked in a glass window just slightly before you leave the sanctuary and enter the souvenir shop, you will find this little shy fur ball. I hated the way we were shuffled and asked to move on, not giving us proper photo opportunity.

The zookeeper simply took out phones and snapped 2 photos, asking us to move along. If not for my request to retake the photo at another angle and try to capture the panda out of  hiding. the above picture would be what we have and seen of Le Le. I didn't even get the chance to wave and say hello to him... 😒

Lucky for good camera lens on smartphones these days, I managed to zoom in from the souvenir store and waited for Le Le to get out of hiding, these are a few of my precious photos of him...

Queued for nearly an hour and we only got to spend 10 minutes in the sanctuary, I left feeling so disappointed, so I went over to the other side of River Wonders to spend some time with the super adorable Manatees...

On the way, we were greeted by playful otters before we enter the huge aquarium in the Amazon Flooded Forest that houses the Manatees alongside other riverine fishes.

The Manatees can also be viewed from a top view as we moved further down the sanctuary, don't they just look like little submarines?! Night was approaching when we left River Wonders and the rain didn't help dispel my disappointment. Guess I will have to make another trip to see Le Le again and hope it's soon, he is growing bigger everyday... 

The public can view the Le Le twice a day, at about 10.30am and 3.30pm. Each viewing session will last 20 to 30 minutes. Hope you have a better chance than me in seeing the baby panda in action. 😆
