Senoko Energy Launches Movement to Celebrate Everyday Energy Savers with 'National Singlet Month' Campaign

Hi Huneybees,

Senoko Energy, dedicated to sustainable energy solutions, is launching the 'National Singlet Month' campaign to celebrate Singaporeans staying cool by wearing singlets in hot weather. This is part of Senoko's 'Thank You' campaign, which recognizes individuals saving energy in everyday ways. The initiative supports Senoko's mission to promote environmental sustainability and energy-efficient practices among its customers.

As global warming causes record temperatures, people in Singapore are using more air-conditioning, which accounts for 24% of household electricity consumption. Senoko is addressing this with several sustainability efforts, including SolarShare 2.0, Singapore's first peer-to-peer grid-scale trading platform for solar energy, and exploring hydrogen power imports with City Energy. These initiatives highlight Senoko's commitment to helping Singapore achieve net zero emissions.

"With the National Singlet Month campaign, we are not only encouraging Singaporeans to reduce their energy consumption. It is a wider movement to recognise the current ways in which Singaporeans are already conserving energy and to encourage them to continue championing such behaviours..

As we explore renewable energy solutions such as hydrogen and green electricity imports, we recognise that energy conservation plays a crucial role in our overall sustainability push. Through creative community engagement and strategic partnerships, we aim to make a significant impact on our environmental responsibilities and community commitments." --- Frederik Baerts, CEO of Senoko Energy

From 16 July to 15 August 2024, you can participate in the campaign by posting photos or videos of yourself in a singlet along with an energy-saving tip on Facebook or Instagram. Participants stand a chance to win a 6-day ecotourism trip for two to the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns, Australia, with Senoko offsetting the carbon footprint of the flights. Additionally, up to 200 twin sets of limited-edition Senoko Energy singlets are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Details of National Singlet Month Social Media Contest

1. Wear your favourite singlet at home or anywhere on the go and share with us an energy tip via a video or photo.

2. Follow Senoko Energy on Facebook or Instagram.

3. Tag your post #NationalSingletMonth and two friends.
Don’t forget to make your profile public so we can see your entry!

Senoko has also partnered with TOUCH Community Services in a unique initiative, pledging to match customers' energy savings dollar for dollar and donate the amount to support TOUCH’s efforts for the disadvantaged. Customers’ energy usage will be monitored bi-monthly from 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025, with up to S$50,000 donated at the end of the period.

The campaign includes a short film on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, and collaborations with Mothership and influencers Xiao Ming (@sgagxiaoming) and Jayne (@jaynejetplane). It will feature various personas promoting energy-saving practices at home, with phase two of the campaign launching in 2025.

SodaStream Says "F** Plastic!"

| |
Hi Huneybees,

At SodaStream, plastics are a big NO! It is the world's leading manufacturer and distributor of sparkling water makers, with over 11 million users worldwide. Established in 1903, SodaStream sparkling water makers offer an innovative alternative to consumers wanting to reduce consumption of bottled and canned carbonated soft drinks. I always call them the healthy fizzy drink maker...

Strongly believing in reducing plastic waste and saving our environment and wildlife from the damage inflicted by non-degradable plastic, SodaStream's carbonating bottle is made from BPA-free material and readily replaces 2,000 disposable bottles and cans per family per year.

This year, SodaStream has made the call to "NO PLASTICS" WEEK (5-8 JUNE) in response to the theme for this year’s World Environment Day - “If you can’t reuse it, refuse it.” According to the National Environmental Agency, Singaporeans disposed roughly 1.67 million tonnes of domestic waste last year, a third of which includes single-use disposables such as plastic bags and food packaging.

Making our Earth less plastic-polluted begins with us and everyone can help with jus a simple change with SodaStream. You can bring their bottles to work, school, the gym, picnics, and even you can even bring it on the plane (empty, of course). Available in two sizes for big and little hands and for more information and where to get SodaStream, go to - www.sodastream.sg.

Anggun Named As Global Judge For Picture This Festival For The Planet

| |
Hi Huneybees,

Internationally renonwned musical artist - Anggun has been announced as global judge for the Picture This Festival for the Planet (www.sonypicturethis.com), a short-film competition for emerging filmmakers, everyday storytellers and changemakers worldwide to showcase the positive future they see for our planet.
“I am very proud to be a global judge for the Picture This Festival. As an environmentally-conscious individual and artist, I believe delivering optimistic messages is the best path to creating public awareness. This festival emphasizes that creativity, imagination and visual talent can make an impact on how we can create a better and more sustainable future.” --- Anggun
Anggun, a World Music Award winning artist whose single What We Remember is currently on the Billboard Dance Charts in the US, is a judge on the hit-rated series, “Asia’s Got Talent,” and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador (2009-2017).

Also joining an esteemed list of judges announced in the past several weeks are YouTube Vloggers -Damon and Jo, who will serve as the first and only digital-native judges for the festival.

The duo are currently in production on their Facebook Watch series Damn Millennials and recently released their first e-book Woke all while running their YouTube channel and travel site, Shut Up and Go.
“In any given month, we may find ourselves in several different continents. Our passion for traveling, learning languages, documenting, and encouraging others to do the same is because we feel that the Earth's story can be told through every day perspectives. And more importantly, if people see the conditions of what's out there, and experience it either through our lens or that of their own eye, they'll be more empowered to take action and help what's important to them.” --- Damon and Jo
In addition to Anggun, Damon and Jo, the list of celebrity advocates and industry leaders who will judge film submissions includes: Megan Boone, environmental advocate and actress from the hit TV series “The Blacklist”; Elizabeth Cousens, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, United Nations Foundation; Mr. N.P. Entries have already opened in January, with people from over 70 countries submitting videos between one and eight minutes in length inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of global goals agreed upon by all 193 member states of the United Nations to end poverty, protect the planet and promote prosperity for all.

This summer, eight (8) regional winners will be flown to Los Angeles to attend the Picture This Festival for the Planet for a day of networking and training alongside industry leaders and social impact partners at the Sony Pictures Studio lot, followed by a screening of the regional winners’ films. Regional winners will receive airfare and accommodations for two nights in Los Angeles, along with a Sony RX0 Camera and a one year WeTransfer Plus account, with the grand prize winner honored with a Sony A6500 camera and a SEL1670 lens.

The Picture This Festival for the Planet is Sony Pictures Entertainment’s latest project to bring awareness to the SDGs. In 2016, the United Nations and SPE launched Angry Birds for a Happy Planet, a global youth outreach campaign that leveraged online and social media platforms to encourage action to protect the planet and fight climate change. Centered on the Sustainable Development Goal #13 – to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts, the campaign featured Red and other characters of The Angry Birds Movie. In 2017, supported by the cast of the Smurfs: The Lost Village, audiences were encouraged to join “Team Smurfs” for the “Small Smurfs Big Goals” campaign that inspired everyone to learn about and support the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Submissions for the Picture This Festival for the Planet opened January 30 and will close April 30.
The contest will be open to entrants from select countries worldwide.
For more information, visit sonypicturethis.com and to enter the contest for free.
