Mandalay is the second-largest city in Myanmar today and it has a very strong history of culture and religion of the country. The city also acts as the gateway to the ancient city of Bagan, one of the world’s greatest archaeological sites, as well as to the picturesque Inle Lake.

This will be a great place for the shutterbugs! Hubby and I have been travelling to countries, honing our photography skills and we have recently found a new love for ancient cities. Mandalay is definitely going to be on our travel plan next!

Flights to Mandalay will be operated on a thrice weekly basis, through a circular routing with Yangon, departing Singapore on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flights will be operated by Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, featuring both Business and Economy Class cabins.
The new service will connect Mandalay with the joint Singapore Airlines – SilkAir network of over 90 cities worldwide via the Singapore hub.

For customers visiting Singapore from Mandalay, the Lion City offers a wide array of attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore, Marine Life Park, River Safari, the famous Night Safari, Singapore Zoological Gardens and Gardens by the Bay. Singapore also offers a multitude of world-class shopping malls and dining options around the city.

Be One Of The 150 Pilots To Bring SILKAIR's First BOEING 737-800 Home

| |
Hi Huneybees,

The pilot’s seat is open onboard SilkAir’s first Boeing 737-800! SilkAir is calling out to all passionate fans and aviation lovers to put on the pilot’s cap and play a part in bringing its newest aircraft back home.

Hosted in celebration of SilkAir’s 25th Anniversary, ‘Bringing Boeing Home with SilkAir’ is Asia’s first 25-hour flight simulator event that commemorates the Airline taking delivery of the first aircraft in its new fleet of 54 Boeing 737s — the largest order in the Airline’s history — in early February 2014.

To be held at Flight Experience™ at the Singapore Flyer, the event offers up to 150 participants the unique experience of virtually flying the Boeing 737-800 from the Renton factory in Seattle to Singapore’s Changi Airport, right from the captain’s seat. Emulating the aircraft’s actual flight path, the 25-hour simulation will involve stop-overs at three locations including Honolulu, Majuro and Guam, with participants working in pairs to take on the piloting of an assigned portion of the route.

The simulation will culminate with Leslie Thng, Chief Executive, SilkAir and Dinesh Keskar, Vice President, Asia Pacific & India Sales for Boeing Commerical Airplanes, taking the helm during the final hour to virtually land the Boeing 737-800 on the runways of Changi Airport. A Landing Party for both participants and members of the public will also be hosted, with attendees being treated to a series of fun-filled activities and the chance to participate in a lucky draw to win attractive prizes, including free flights and limited edition SilkAir 25th anniversary memorabilia.

For an opportunity to be selected as one of the 150 participants of ‘Bringing Boeing Home with SilkAir’, members of the public can simply visit the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SilkAir (or www.bit.ly/silkair25thflight) and share why they want to be part of this historic delivery event.
Only one entry per person will be considered and submissions close on 23:59, 26 January 2014. Selected participants will be notified on the first week of February via phone/email.
