[Halloween] Sentosa Spooktacular is back!

Hi Huneybees,

Halloween is just round the corner and this weekend, Sentosa Spooktacular is back for another scary installment!

This year, the scare is brought right into Fort Siloso which is long reputes for its tales of haunting incidents. According to urban folklore, the island's dark history of battles and death has generated stories of Asian ghouls seen wandering around Fort Siloso's tunnels and colonial buildings.

With the newly recruited four ambassadors for Sentosa’s annual marquee Halloween event; the Pontianak, the Chinese Ghost Bride, the Dead Soldier and the Jiang Shi (Chinese Vampire) and the cohort of 200 ghosts, Sentosa Spooktacular 2012 is set to be Singapore’s largest Asian horror fest.

These new hires will populate Fort Siloso and its five new Horror Trails, a venue used for the first time in Singapore’s Halloween history. Its rich historical background has given Fort Siloso its rift reputation as a haunting ground for paranormal sightings, (yes, making it all even more spooky this year!) distinctively setting Sentosa Spooktacular apart from other Halloween events this October 19 and 20, and 26 to 28, from 7pm to 11pm.

“This year, it is all about authenticity when presenting horror at Sentosa Spooktacular. Fort Siloso today stands as a reminder to one of the most tempestuous chapters in local history. With the addition of our Asian supernatural entities, we were able to tap into their individual experiences and cultures to bring to life the Asian folklore that we grew up with. After all, what can be more realistic and scary than finding out if there is any truth to these urban legends?” --- Mr. Jimmy Wong, Events Director, Sentosa Leisure Group

Hopefully saluting to the Japanese Dead Soldier, he might let you off?
With Fort Siloso as Sentosa Spooktacular 2012’s designated venue, its horror trails challenge fans and patrons to walk the fine line between myth and reality as these 200 spirits will meet with daredevil visitors at Sentosa Spooktacular’s Horror Trails: Ouija Board, Camp Berhantu, Deadly Doll Studio, The Land of Lost Souls as well as The Last Sequel, to retell their hair-raising accounts of bloody murders, painful tortures and tragic deaths.

To maximise their evening of scares and nightmares, visitors are encouraged to descend into the Netherworld through the Sentosa Express Station at VivoCity, and hop onto the cob-web covered Ghost Rider Bus or Tram at the Beach Station. However, Sentosa Spooktacular also warns of other non-human passengers who may be hitching the same rides into the Netherworld.

For the first time in this year’s fright fest, Sentosa Spooktacular kicks it up a notch by transforming Fort Siloso into a full-scale Netherworld, starting right at the entrance of Fort Siloso.

The Netherworld − playground of Sentosa Spooktacular’s ghosts and ghouls, beckons with scenes of Singapore set in the 1950s.

There will be several types of activity booths for this immersive horror experience, ranging from push-cart stalls selling devilishly delicious snacks such as dim sum and beverages, getai singers, to Spook stores as well as tikam tikam ─ all manned by original spirits of the once-existing hawkers back in the day.

One bloody bones coming right up!
Are you ready for the trails? Here is a little preview of each of the trails, hopefully it can prep you a little? I really hope it helps, coz I really did scare the sh*t hell out of me. :X

Camp Berhantu

Watch the paranormal proceedings at the ghastly barracks as the ghost of the restless recruit re-enacts his fire mishap every Thursday night - when spirits are at their most rowdy, according to Malay beliefs. Smell the acrid stench of kerosene and burnt alloy; hear the sounds of frantic pounding and unearthly shrieks as the recruit is burnt "alive"  for the umpteenth time. Be on guard there - unappeased with killing his bunkmates in revenge, he might take it out on you. Then, you have to stay with him for eternity!

Beware your every step! It can be smokey and the ghostly soldiers are at every corner to scare you!

Camp Berhantu

Welcome to Sawadee Airline to the desolated Dwng Wiyyan, where you notice the other person around seems to be the grim , blind monk.

But don't be fooled; he's not alone. Surrounding him (and you) are tormented spirits with unfinished business binding them to this world. You best pray you have the "third eye" to see the wraiths, or you will never be able to dodge their deadly clutches. Are you fast enought to escape and make a return trip from the lifeless land?

Told ya they have unfinished business ~
The Last Sequel

Always wished you could write your own destiny? Hear the story of an ill-fated author and you will drop the idea. The wretched man continues to be stricken by horrific events that seem to follow his novels to the letter - grisly pieces of his sister sent to him in a crate, his wife found gruesomely murdered and hanged in a walk-in freezer. Come see how the nightmarish plot unfolds, but first; prepare your death note.

I didn't dare to enter this horror house. You are really on your own in this one!

Deadly Doll Studio

Afraid of dolls? You should be! Visitors of this doll studio swear the deadpan eyes of the creepy creations seem to follow them; some even claim to have witnessed them move on their own. So lifelike in appearance, people now suspect real human parts were used.

Have you got the guts to spy on the uncanny doll maker to discover the secret behind her craft? Beware; you might end up being the horrific face of her next exhibit, as they say she will not stop until she makes the "perfect doll".

Ouijia Board

Responsible for burying prisoners-of-war during WW2, the caretaker used to live in the dilapidated house atop Mount Siloso before he was also tortured to death by the soldiers.

The abode became the favourite haunt of occultists for dark rituals, and the anguished spirits were summoned for Ouija readings. But no one dares visit after one such unholy pilgrimage went wrong, and the inquisitors vanished mysteriously. If you're dying to know what happened, come ask the specters yourself - but don't get spirited away!

In between the trails, don't miss the ghosts doing a little performance too!

More ghostly friends awaits when you survive the horror trails. Good luck escaping them!

Sentosa Spooktacular now officially invites all to come play, if  you dare.
