I Am Living Towards My Star Wars Childhood Dream With The Progression Such As LG’s AI-Enabled ThinQ Devices!

| |
Hi Huneybees,

We have certainly came a long way with Artificial Intelligence (AI). I could still vividly recall the excitement of watching R2D2 and C3PO supporting human in their daily activities all over the galaxies, and I never thought (at a tender age of 6 then) I could live to see the realisation of it.

Today, while we are not exactly living in the Star Wars world yet, we do already have a taste of it like the moving Robot Vacuum that many of us owned at home. Whether you like it or not, AI has already made great leap intertwining into our daily life - from our mobile devices that we carry around to the house appliances at home ready to enhance our living experience.

With the rise of Internet Of Things (IoT), smart appliances are abound but companies such as LG Electronics’ (LG) continues to innovate in AI technology and design to realise my childhood (and many Huneybees alike) of living in the Star Wars fantasy. It is this exact determination that have earned the Korean electronic giant the recognition from the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA).

LG’s AI ThinQ-enabled products including LG OLED TV, LG SUPER UHD TV and LG XBOOM were honored for their high competitiveness in categories assessing premium picture quality, artificial intelligence performance and sound excellence.

The LG OLED TV AI ThinQ (model OLED65E8) was named the EISA PREMIUM OLED TV 2018-2019, marking this the seventh consecutive win for the company’s OLED technology. The TV was praised for its picture quality powered by the α (Alpha) 9 processor, which provides true-to-life images with incredibly rich colors, sharpness and depth for more realism and its class-leading artificial intelligence functionality. The EISA jury also praised the Dolby Atmos™ performance and its front firing speakers which produce the most immersive audio-visual experience possible. The picture-on-glass design was also cited for perfectly blending into any environment.

The LG SUPER UHD TV AI ThinQ (model 65SK9500) was recognized as the EISA ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TV 2018-2019 for producing the ultimate LCD TV picture through the combination of technologies including Nano Cell, Full-Array Local Dimming (FALD) and the α (Alpha) 7 processor, as well as LG’s AI ThinQ plat-form and Google Assistant built in.
With LG’s proprietary AI ThinQ, users can control the  TV,  connect  easily to external  devices, switch picture mode and search for content.

The latest advanced voice assistant technology embedded in the TV is achieved by employing Natural Language Processing (NLP) to deliver intelligent voice-activated control and connectivity based on LG’s exclusive deep learning technology. And with the Google Assistant built in, LG’s AI TVs offer a streamlined experience that allows them to manage different tasks, find answers, or control smart home devices, serving as the center of the smart home.
LG’s SUPER UHD TV offers denser backlighting zones throughout the display and significantly improves black levels and picture dimensions through independent control of LED light zones. This delivers better shadow details and reduces light bleeding for enhanced local contrast, important for viewing HDR content. Thanks to the innovative Nano Cell Display, TV viewers can enjoy superb color accuracy and consistency at wide viewing angles without compromising picture quality.

EISA also named LG’s premium AI speaker, the LG XBOOM AI ThinQ (model WK7), as its EISA ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE LOUDSPEAKER 2018-2019 thanks to extraordinary sound quality combined with intelligence. The technical collaboration with Meridian, the British pioneer of high resolution audio, enables LG XBOOM AI ThinQ’s full audio performance to be unleashed for high-fidelity sound, precise vocal definition and accurate bass.
The LG XBOOM AI ThinQ’s High Resolution Audio is compatible with high quality lossless files, allowing it to faithfully recreate sounds originally recorded in the studio.
With Google Assistant integrated directly into the device for quick setup, LG XBOOM
AI ThinQ responds to a user’s commands without the need for a remote control or
smartphone like “Hey Google, what’s my schedule today?” As a hub, the speaker can
control Google Assistant-enabled smart home devices as well as LG home appliances
compatible with LG ThinQ.

Once again, congratulation to LG for this year's EISA honors. It's innovation such as LG's AI-enabled ThinQ devices that is going to move us a step closer towards living my Star Wars childhood dream!

R2D2 Had Tons Of Fun At The STAR WARS DAY: MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU FESTIVAL

| |
Hi Huneybees,

This little R2D2 was too happy to fall asleep, as she went partying with friends of The Force, joining Jedi-s, Sith-s and even droids to celebrate the Star Wars Day #MayTheFourth !

Wielding our lightsabers up high, we celebrated both 'May the 4th' and the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars (since the release of 'Star Wars: A New Hope') at Gardens by the Bay on this memorable day. It was the galactic's best celebrations ever with tons of activities and this R2D2 can't stop snapping pictures through the night. Check out the video walkthrough above!

Stormtroopers were marching everywhere, Rey was there, Boba Fett too, but the highlight has got to be the very first appearance of Kylo Ren together with Chewbacca, who made special appearances through the evening to meet and greet with their fans.

They have a queue waiting to get pictures with them so you might want to be early, to ensure yourself a pass!

There's even the All-Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST) replica standing tall amidst the Supertree Grove, standing guard for more photo opportunities.

Sadly, it's out of touch. Wouldn't it be even cooler if we could get aboard and live out our dreams of the battle scene on Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back?!

Whilst waiting for the sky to turn dark, R2D2 Huney went shopping and hopping around the booths set up along the festival village. There are tons of Star Wars collectibles on display at the fan zone, with more than 60 vintage Star Wars toys produced between 1977 and 1985; as well as more than 200 contemporary toys produced from 1995!

And as a special treat to all Star Wars fans, pop by the Simply Toys booth as there will is a global launch of the latest LEGO Star Wars merchandises sold right there! See how happy my hubby was ~~~

Of course, there are tons to see and to do with fan art sections and photo booths. But I'll leave that to you to explore as I was preparing for the arrival of Guest-of-Honour Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Trade and Industry for the official launch of the 3-days festival.

He made a grand entrance with a march-in by Stormtroopers from 501st Legion Singapore Garrison, Rebel Legion and Fightsaber and also accompanied by Mr Robert Gilby, Managing Director of The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia and Mr Ang Han Wee, Festival Director and Managing Director of event organiser - Esprimo.

After a few photos and selfies at the AT-ST, he kicked off the highlight of the festival, Garden Rhapsody: Star Wars Edition and Sabertrees Installation by turning on his blue lightsaber. Even Chewie went on stage to celebrate this moment!

Check out the video above for the spectacular light works as they re-enact popular scenes from the Star Wars movie alongside the soundtrack with meticulously choreographed lighting composition. SW fans like me will be able to recognize scenes like Luke's landing in Dagobah, when he first met Yoda, the fight between Anakin and Obi Wan on Mustafar and even the epic fight between Luke and Darth Vader!

The Garden Rhapsody: Star Wars Edition will be playing out from now till 2 June at 7.45pm and 8.45pm every night with an additional 9.45pm show on 4 to 5 May.

At the end of the "performance", marvel at the SaberTrees Installation where the Supertrees in Gardens by the Bay transforms into giant lightsabers, casting light beams up to 200m high into the dark sky. I could spend hours enjoying this transport to "Galaxy Far, Far Away" moment, be sure to bring your wide lens to capture the best moments!

This 3-day celebration is gona make all the Ewoks dance and all these is made possible thanks to Esprimo, The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia, Singapore Tourism Board and Gardens by the Bay!

On May 5th and 6th, stay on till late and hit the dance floor at the Star Wars themed Silent Disco. There will be 2 DJs spinning tunes interwoven with the Star Wars soundtrack, so get your Cantina shoes ready and see if the Dark or Light Side will win at this dance-off. =)

And now, I got to go rest up for it's the last day of celebrations and have to get ready for the Star Wars Run. See you there fellow SW fan! I wonder if the Dark Side or the Light Side will win... Stay Tuned!

The very first thing I'm going to do when I reach there tomorrow is definitely to "plant" myself at the Star Wars: Battle Pod. With so many exciting Star Wars collaborations and additions, like the arrival of ANA’s R2-D2 aircraft at Changi Airport today, this Star Wars fanatic couple cannot miss out the chance on piloting the X-Wing Fighter  through the popular scene where Death Star II was destroyed in Star Wars Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.

The Star Wars: Battle Pod is a standalone, dome-shaped pod which will house the player as he/she battles through five exotic and iconic battles within the Star Wars universe. While the hardware was manufactured in Japan, the entire game was actually designed in Singapore!
It will be on a first come, first serve basis over at the Geek Culture booth for these 3 days. What’s more, GeekCulture will be holding a contest, rewarding top scorers of the day with Star Wars goodies, including a special price for the top, prevailing scorer at the end of GameStart 2015. I'm ready to take up the challenge, are you?

Of course there are other highlights to thrill us and that includes the chance to experience the PlayStation VR headset  (*the first time for the public in Southeast Asia), go back in time and satiate your nostalgia at “Retro DNA” - a section where fans of old-school games can check out vintage game consoles and arcade machines (Ryu's Hadoken **joystick forward + punch**), or purchase official Blizzard merchandise from Blizzcon 2015.
With returning partners like Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong (Singapore Branch), Bandai Namco Entertainment, Blizzard Entertainment, Capcom Pro Tour Asia tournament and home-grown companies Armaggedon, IMBA Interactive, Kinetiquettes, Witching Hour Studios and Xmashed Gear; together with new partners this year - Taipei Game Show (Taipei Computer Association), Singapore Gamebox by Games Solution Centre, Warner Brothers Games, Funplus, Obutto Singapore, Saint Games and Simply Toys, you are bound to be complaining time is not enough. LOL!

If you already have your tickets ready, good for you! But for those who have not, standard priced tickets can be purchased online at GameStart Asia’s official website and from selected retail partners: Saint Games (The Cathay), GameScore (Funan outlet), and all GameXtreme outlets. More information can be found at www.gamestart.asia.
