It feels so surreal that it's 2019 already, I'm still sitting on my "bum bum" filling in my goals list when so many things have changed and evolved around me. Happening very soon is the Lunar New Year, I've been preparing and if you are like my hubby who needs new clothing and new gadgets for the New Year, why not check out the new LG V40 ThinQ that is fun-packed with camera "stunts" for your Instagram worthy shots during this festive season!
The launch of this new LG smartphone was held at Holey Moley, a new mini golf bar in Clarke Quay. It's a very interesting concept and I will definitely be bringing my hubby back for more golfing and drinking.
Let's get on with the LG V40 ThinQ. I think the biggest specialty has got to be the 5 camera experience (2 front and 3 back cameras). The front camera with 5MP wide angle and 8MP standard angle lens works together to create the perfect bokeh effect when taking your selfies. There's even a slider on the screen to allow you to control the amount of blurriness.
As for the 3 cameras in the back (16MP super wide-angle, 12MP standard angle and 12 MP telephoto), you can conveniently frame shots without having to shift your position. You can opt for the 107-degree super wide-angle lens to capture a vast mountain landscape range or the telephoto with 2x optical zoom (or 3.2x the zoom of the wide-angle lens) to take clear shots of distant subjects, like the animals on wildlife safari trip or birds, without much loss in image quality.
What's best is that you can take 3 different shots at one go, without having to keep switching modes! Named Triple Shot, you can snap a standard photo, a wide angle photo as well as a focussed subject photo in a jiffy. You can also opt to have these 3 images stitched into a short video clip to share. I like this feature the most coz I can take more in-the-moment photos without having the need to use a selfie stick and I don't have to regret not getting that shot, especially when traveling. Don't you agree?
The perfect shot is also guaranteed as the smartphone boasts Dual PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus), which delivers automatic focusing that is 50% faster, about twice as fast as the industry average. The advanced HDR feature analyzes and determines the right exposure settings to create perfectly lit shots, eliminating overexposed backgrounds or underexposed subjects. Hence, subjects are always perfect focus because the camera checks sharpness continuously until the shutter button is pressed. LG has also upgraded the camera in the LG V40 ThinQ to be even more powerful and intuitive than ever, capable of delivering the most ideal color, composition, white balance, and shutter speed. The AI CAM’s new AI Composition feature taps into the phone’s intelligence to frame, capture and recommend an alternative shot to the one taken by the user. AI Auto White Balance automatically adjusts the color temperature across different lighting situations while AI Shutter selects the right shutter speed, a feature especially useful when capturing fast-moving subjects.
Other new features such as Cine Shot, 3D Light Effect, Makeup Pro, Custom Backdrop and Story Shot take the photography experience on the LG V40 ThinQ to new heights. Cine Shot makes creating cinemagraphs – images with animation – incredibly easy and fun. Simply shoot a short video with any of the phone’s three rear cameras and “paint” the area to be animated with a finger. 3D Light Effect changes the tone of a photo with professional-looking lighting. Touch up any selfie with different looks using Makeup Pro or entirely change the background of a selfie with Custom Backdrop. Story Shot allows users to create fun photo composites. Simply choose a background image from existing photos in the photo gallery, or take a new backdrop with the smartphone. Then users can take a selfie which will superimpose them onto the background photo. Check out this event video and you can see the camera in works...
Other than its camera power, the LG V40 ThinQ also boasts of high-fidelity audio, being the first LG phone to carry the Audio Tuned by Meridian label. The 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC produces a balanced sound signature that comes extremely close to the quality of an original recording. With Boombox Speaker, it also doubles the bass of conventional smartphone speakers by utilizing the internal space of the device as a resonance chamber. When placed on a solid surface or hollow box, the LG V40 ThinQ acts like a woofer to amplify the bass even more.

Today at the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 World Tour 2014 (Singapore), the much awaited GALAXY Note 4 4G+andGALAXY Note Edge 4G+ made their appearances.These 2 new innovations wowed me and I already got my eye on the GALAXY Note Edge 4G+.
With its customizable side panel, you can immediately access those frequently used apps or tools and you can watch videos or take photos using the full screen, with no obstruction.

Of course, all is not complete with the Samsung Gear S.
