Hi Huneybees,

It's coming to the end of the year, but more and more events are happening! More big stars are coming to our lovely sunny island and this time, I bet it will be highly anticipated as world-renowned auteur John Woo, actresses Zhang Ziyi, Juliette Binoche and Cheng Pei Pei, walk on the red carpet of this year’s Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF)!

Big, huge bright stars right?! I can't wait to see them!

John Woo and Zhang Ziyi will be in Singapore for Woo’s latest film - The Crossing, an epic love story spanning half a century of modern Chinese history. Woo, who has been making movies for over 40 years will also be conducting a master class for the public on 5 December 2014.

Juliette Binoche will attend the Singaporean premiere of Olivier Assayas’ Clouds of Sils Maria (Sils Maria), screened in conjunction with 4th Rendezvous with French Cinema. Tickets for the film have already been sold out.

Meanwhile, Cheng Pei Pei will be in Singapore to confer the tribute to the late Sir Run Run Shaw, who founded Shaw Brothers Studio and TVB, at the Silver Screen Awards on December 13. She was recently nominated for the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) Best Actress honors for her role in Lilting and the first screening for Lilting on December 6 has been sold out, but audiences can still catch a second screening on December 12.

The Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) is the largest and longest-running film event in Singapore. Founded in 1987, the festival has become an iconic event in the Singapore arts calendar that is widely attended by international film critics, and recognized worldwide for its focus on Asian filmmakers and the promotion of Southeast Asian films. The festival is committed to nurturing and championing local and regional talents in the art of filmmaking, serving as a catalyst in igniting public interest in the arts, and encouraging artistic dialogue and cultural exchanges.

The SGIFF is organized by the Singapore International Film Festival Ltd, a non-profit organization and holds the Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status.

In keeping with the festival’s spirit of unearthing new talent, 36-year-old Ahmad Abdalla El Sayed Abdelkader, an Egyptian film director, editor and screenwriter, will also be here as this year’s Filmmaker in Focus. TV host, producer and director Khaled Abol Naga, who has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since his appointment in 2007, will also be here to join him.

Also making an appearance at this year’s festival is renowned director Wang Xiaoshuai, who is also regarded as one of China’s “Sixth Generation” filmmakers. He will be here for his film, Red Amnesia, which follows a 60-year-old lady and her family in Beijing, reflecting on contemporary China and the country’s needs to recall its past. He is also the Jury Head for the Asian Feature Film Competition at the Silver Screen Awards. His master class for the public will be on 9 December 2014.

SGIFF, to be held from December 4 to 14, focusing on groundbreaking Asian cinema and discovering new film talents from Southeast Asia. SGIFF is known for its dynamic film programming and commitment to the development of a vibrant local film culture.

Immerse In The Beauty of 4K With SONY BRAVIA

| |
Hi Huneybees,

Last week, SONY unveiled its latest BRAVIA television - the SONY BRAVIA KD-84X9000.  At 84" (3840 x 2160) LCD, it's the largest & highest-resolution TV yet. With entertainment this grand, you're not just watching, you're experiencing it. The 4K Resolution generates 4 times more detail than Full HD TVs, for super life-like picture quality.

At a showroom, I was given the full SONY BRAVIA KD84X9000 experience.

Me and the media sat on this special platform and everyone was in awe when the platform turned 180° to reveal the magnificent TV.

This new 4K TV comes equipped with a 4K LCD panel comprising app. 8.29 megapixels, 4x the resolution of Full HD standard and incorporates "4K X-reality PRO", SONY's super-resolution high picture quality engine optimised for the 4K TV.

A short explanation of 4K.

This engine is capable of reproducing a variety of content with different resolutions, such as HD digital broadcasts or Blu-ray discs content, into stunningly crisp, high-quality images with 4K resolution.

Bigger doesn't mean distortion...

Viewers will not be bothered by the pixels and notice instead that images are breathtakingly realistic and beautifully clear with the wide 60-degree viewing angle, even if they sit as much as half the distance to the screen, as compared to when viewing Full HD (for which a distance equal to 3x the screen height is recommended).

Now it's time to try the TV and immerse in the 4K world.

On both sides of the TV, stand "10 Unit Live Speaker" side speaker system, which is optimised for this large-size screen and SONY's unique high-quality sound signal-processing technology achieves powerful 3D sound, enveloping the viewer in position-orienting tones, from deep bass to high notes.

You have to be there to see it LIVE! The colours are just beautiful and the detailing is amazing!
See this newspaper article? The black is super black and white is glaringly white.
Check out the details! Super small print is still viewable on the SONY BRAVIA  KD-84X9000!
In addition to the high quality sound, is the 3D experience with 4K. Amazing sharp images and colours made everything look like they are just right before your eyes, reach out and you can grab them. (Hehehehe...).

Passive 3D also means the accompanying 3D glasses are lighter and more comfortable, requiring no batteries.

This is like one of the Mission Impossible glasses!
Compared to the conventional glasses, the newly improved pair of lighter and more comfortable.

The next feature is one of my favourite - Simulview. When 2 players are competing in a car racing game, isn't it distracting having to always see the other players' car, distracting you?

With the special labelled glasses, you can race in peace and just see your own car when racing. It's like your very own F1 experience!

Furthermore, PlayMemories Studio, a special PlayStation software, enables users to organise and playback high resolution photographs with ease and comfort on the KD-84X9000. Going forward, SONY aims to offer new television viewing styles by continuing to provide these kinds of new consumer experiences.

Lunch was prepared by the chef consultant of Fullerton Hotel - Mr Ryan Hong. he has many LIVE cook show experiences and have published books. He was such a sunny and fun-loving guy!
I made new friends as well - Spencer and Rosalind. Welcome to Huney'Z World!

The KD-84X9000 will retail for S$35,999 at selected SONY stores such as SONY Store Isetan Orchard and authorised outlets from early January 2012 onwards...
