Would you spend an entire day at a destination designed around wellness, relaxation and play?
That is exactly what Therme Singapore is setting out to become.
Ground was officially broken this week for Therme Singapore, a massive new integrated wellbeing destination that will open at Marina South in 2030. Spanning more than 720,000 square feet across seven levels, it promises to bring together water attractions, wellness experiences, lush tropical landscapes and family-friendly entertainment under one roof.
As someone who constantly finds myself bouncing between events, deadlines and content creation, the idea of a place where you can spend a day slowing down, recharging and simply feeling good sounds pretty appealing.

A New Kind of Destination for Singapore
Developed by Therme Group, Therme Singapore will be the company's first destination in Asia and its largest wellness project in the region.
Visitors can expect:
- More than 20 indoor and outdoor pools and water attractions
- Over 70 wellness treatment rooms
- More than 86,000 square feet of dining and social spaces
- Expansive indoor and outdoor tropical gardens
- Waterfront views overlooking Marina South
Rather than being just another attraction or water park, Therme Singapore is designed as an all-in-one wellbeing destination where leisure, nature and wellness intersect with one simple goal - create a space that appeals to everyone, from families with young children to working adults looking to unwind and seniors seeking restorative wellness experiences.

Three Distinct Experiences Under One Roof
The destination is organised into three distinctive zones, each catering to a different mood and experience.
Play
Families and thrill-seekers will likely gravitate towards the Play zone. This area will feature children's pools, interactive play spaces and an impressive collection of 18 water slides stretching over 1.8 kilometres in total length.
This is the part of Therme Singapore where energy takes centre stage, encouraging movement, exploration and shared family experiences.
Relax
For those who prefer a slower pace, the Relax zone sounds like the place to be. Visitors can look forward to thermal pools, mineral baths, hydromassage beds, infrared therapy and tranquil water environments designed to help melt away stress.
After a hectic week, this is probably where you'll find me.
Restore
The Restore zone focuses on deeper wellness and recovery.
Expect saunas, steam rooms and dedicated treatment spaces designed to support both physical and mental rejuvenation. It's an approach that feels increasingly relevant today as more people prioritise wellness as part of everyday life rather than an occasional luxury.

A Tropical Oasis in the Heart of the City
Beyond the pools and wellness facilities, nature will play a major role in shaping the visitor experience. The grounds will feature more than 200,000 plants representing over 200 species incorporated throughout the development, including orchids and native Southeast Asian varieties.
The result is intended to feel less like a conventional building and more like an immersive tropical environment woven into Singapore's urban landscape and what's particularly exciting is that the project extends beyond its walls.
A new coastal public park spanning nearly four hectares will connect Therme Singapore with Marina Barrage, creating an additional green spaces and improving public access to the waterfront. For a city that already does urban greenery exceptionally well, this feels like another meaningful addition to Singapore's growing network of recreational spaces!

Technology Meets Wellness
Therme Singapore is also embracing technology to streamline the visitor experience.
Some of the planned features include:
- Waterproof RFID wristbands for access and cashless payments
- Robotic locker systems
- Advanced ozone-based water filtration technology
- Smart irrigation systems
- Solar photovoltaic panels
- Energy-efficient building systems
It's really encouraging to see sustainability and operational efficiency being integrated from the ground up rather than added as an afterthought.

More Than Just a Tourist Attraction
Beyond the visitor experience, Therme Singapore is expected to create around 400 jobs across construction, engineering, hospitality, operations and facilities management.
Interestingly, the destination will also introduce specialised wellness roles such as sauna masters, also known as Aufgussmeisters, a profession that remains relatively uncommon in Singapore today.
To support future workforce development, Therme Singapore has already established partnerships with the Institute of Technical Education and Republic Polytechnic, focusing on internships, innovation projects and industry-relevant skills training.

Looking forward...
Singapore is no stranger to ambitious attractions, but Therme Singapore definitely feels different.
Instead of focusing purely on entertainment, it combines recreation, wellness, nature and social experiences into one destination. It reflects a growing shift in how people think about wellbeing, not just as spa treatments or fitness classes, but as something that can be integrated into everyday life.
Of course, 2030 might feel a long way off, and there are plenty of details yet to be revealed. But judging from the scale of what's planned, Therme Singapore could become one of Marina South's most anticipated new attractions.
The thought of spending a day alternating between water slides, thermal pools, tropical gardens and good food while overlooking the waterfront definitely sounds like a pretty great way to recharge. I'll be keeping an eye on this one as more details emerge over the next few years and stay tuned as I share them here!
