VIVOCITY Sets New Record For Largest Display Of Hand-Painted Lanterns

How was your Mid-Autumn Festival Weekend? Last night some record breaking was done in Vivocity. They have set a new record in the Singapore Book of Records for the largest display of hand-painted lanterns. Shoppers gathered at the VivoCity rooftop Amphitheatre for two hours to collectively hand-paint a total of 568 lanterns in a spectacular display of light and colour.

This is the seventh year that VivoCity has included a record-setting event as part of its annual Mid-Autumn celebrations. In the past, VivoCity has set records for feats such as “Most Number of Signatures on a Lantern” and “The Largest Display of Floating Lanterns” (I attended that. Click on the link to read about it). This year, lantern-painting was chosen to encourage participation, by allowing shoppers to display their creativity and artistic expression through personalised lanterns.

“I enjoy painting, but most importantly I’m here to spend time with my grandchildren. This is the fourth time we are celebrating Mid Autumn Festival at VivoCity. We come back yearly as we enjoy the performances and the energy of the crowd. The atmosphere is very festive.” --- Ms Rosie Tan, 68

Throughout the lantern-painting and festivities, shoppers were entertained by live performances. In addition to partaking in a record-setting milestone, the first 1,500 shoppers who registered received a goodie bag consisting of vouchers and gifts. Lucky shoppers also won prizes from the lucky draw conducted at the event.

VivoCity's Fashion Showcase 2012 - ESPRIT’S Spring Showcase

Tonight, Vivocity presented their very first  Fashion Showcase with Espirit for shoppers. Titled "A New Style, A New Love", the show featured an exciting interplay between light, neutral beige shades and dark blue tones, giving shoppers new ideas for looking effortlessly elegant every time of the day.

The showcase kickstarted with a quartet performance by Volks.

After an instrumental medley of "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele and "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay, the show began... 

 

 

With a blink of the eye, the showcase's over. Let's welcome the models once again...

 Check out this little upcoming model. So adorable. I heard a few "OWWwww"s in the audience.

From 5 to 29 April, shoppers will be treated to a whole line-up of attractive deals and fashion shows that present a psychedelic infusion of stunning colours and designs.
