The highlight of the show was the debut of the Kindness Song, “Kindness is in Me” by Lorraine Tan, specially commissioned by the Singapore Kindness Movement.

The day kickstarted at West View Primary School in the morning with Minister for Education, Mr Heng Swee Keat as Guest of Honour and whhile the evening was a treat to the senses, kindness was not far from everyone’s minds.

Ground-up initiatives that have championed kindness over the past year were honoured as part of the Kindred Spirit Circle at the event. Among those recognised were Diamonds on the Street, a group that brings hope to vulnerable communities by teaching them skills related to music and drama, and the organisers of The Hawker Sessions, an initiative which raises funds for the less privileged through its makan fundraisers at local hawker centres. The affirmation of their organic efforts to bring kindness to the community inducted them into the circle which was started in 2013.

SKM encourages everyone and organisations to join Kindness Day SG in the coming years, not only on the day itself, but also throughout the year to fuel the kindness spirit in Singapore. SKM hopes Kindness Day SG will serve as a reminder, celebration, and continuing encouragement of kindness.

Kindness Day SG will return annually on the last Friday of May, coinciding with the conclusion of Term 2 of the academic calendar.

The Inaugural Shine Singapore Charity Concert in Celebration of National Day 2013

| |
Hi Huneybees,

Over 1200 Singaporeans attended the inaugural Shine Singapore Charity Concert held at Esplanade Concert Hall on 6th August 2013. The Presenting Charity Sponsor was CapitaLand Hope Foundation and it is the brainchild of local singer and songwriter, Lorraine Tan

The National Flag was given out at the concert...

The concert is part of the "My Singapore" project that was started in 2011 with the aim of using music to bring people together for a charity cause. Every year, the project hopes to help families and children from the lower-income bracket to fulfill their basic needs.

The 1.5-hour concert saw Lorraine, together with her 15-piece band, serenading the audience with a total of more than 15 songs, which included the theme song of this year's project, Shine Singapore.

The audience also cooed as Korean pop star, Shin Min Chul from T-Max, brought the heat up by singing the famous theme song of Boys Over Flowers (Korean version), Paradise. Shin who is a personal friend of Lorraine Tan, flew specially to Singapore to show his support for the charity concert.
