Irene Ang hosted the "Born a Hero" event at TANGS

Irene Ang (who played the popular role of “mother of Ken Chow” in the Ah Boys to Men movies), was spotted hosting the Born a Hero (BAH) celebratory event on 1st July at TANGS at Tang Plaza.

Host, Irene Ang facilitating the Born a Hero panel discussion at the finale event at Tangs@TANG Plaza, featuring Co-Founder of Material World Singapore, alongside three ladies who have each contributed toward Singapore’s defence.

Also at the event were Deborah Tan, Co-Founder of Material World, who initiated the Born a Hero Project, Judy Kong a veteran who volunteered with the Singapore Women’s Auxiliary Naval Service (SWANS), Setoh Wei Leng Born a Hero personality who provided her significant other with moral support as he went through National Service, and Priya Shahane Chief HR Officer with AXA Singapore.

Sponsored by AXA Singapore, Born a Hero (BAH) is a ground-up project by women’s portal, Material World Singapore. Organized as part of the commemoration for the SAF’s 50th anniversary (SAF50), BAH celebrated the unsung heroes behind Singapore’s defence by telling stories of ordinary women who have contributed to the success of the SAF in their own ways.

 
At the event, participants were treated to exclusive discounts and deals – including a $10 TANGS voucher (no minimum spend) for the first 800 registered participants who turned up at the event. Lucky Participants walked home with exciting lucky draw prizes such as Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machines, Lancôme hampers, Kiehl’s hampers, Melissa shoes, and many more!

[Updated] RTL CBS Is Taking Entertainment To The Extreme

Hi Huneybees,

OMG! Did someone died?!

Arriving at a crime scene was definitely something no one would want to go through, especially when you are being body searched and go through a lie test!

But guess everything's fine as long as you have cutie George Young going to jail with you eh? *winkz*

Why all these dramas? 

Well, coz we were there to see the RTL CBS Extreme HD channel launch.

RTL CBS Extreme HD is a general entertainment channel for the boys. It's all about the adrenaline rush with its mix of action series, extreme sports, world famous illusionists, extreme factual programming and action reality programs.

You can look forward to watching Asia Premiere and Exclusive programs like - 

• Extreme Sports: Cliptomaniacs, Art of Motion (Parkour across the globe), Red Bull Air Race World Championship
• Action Series: Hawaii Five-O, NCIS: Los Angeles, 
• Illusionists: Dynamo Magical Impossible, Troy, Cosentino, Criss Angel BELIEVE
• Extreme Factual: Fear Factor, What The Fact...?!

At the launch, I conquered my fear and kinda fulfilled my dream to take up the challenges on Fear Factor. 

First up, I had little creepy crawlies dipped in chocolate fondue and fed right into my mouth. Thinking it was maggots (the light was so dim), it was filled with proteins right? But only to feel nauseous when I was told it was cockroach babies. WTF!!!

Look at Stephanie Carrington's reaction after eating it, you will know how I felt...

Second, we all cheers to a shot of "Brain Juice". It looked yicky yucky but, it tasted great, like a White Russian with a Cranberry touch!

Then, there was the put your hands in a box full of maggots to get a coin, so that you can take a picture with either of these snakes. It's like so creepy in every level! I couldn't bring myself to have the snake around me, so glad I had Val...

After that, we were treated to an exciting parkour performance and a magical performance by Cosetino, sent chills down our spine as he did a death defying performace of escaping from the head-crushing knives...

Of course, I also got a pic with George Young and the ever so funny Irene Ang before I left...

RTL CBS Extreme HD is broadcasted in English with Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Thai subtitles.

It is available in Malaysia - HyppTV Channel 617 and Singapore - Singtel mio TV Channel 335. For Thailand and Philippines, the channel would be launched soon.

The BONIA Pop-Up Store Will Be Extending Their Stay At Orchard Green Until End May

By now, you would have already seen the majestic Bonia Pop-Up Store along Orchard Green. Following the success of the launch party, the pow-wow sessions and workshops, and the thank you party, BONIA is extending their stay at Orchard Green until 31 May 2013. 

The 4,305 square feet store have exhibitions from their collaboration with Raffles Design Institute (RDI) on the first level, where students presented their designs on an international platform. A strong advocate for the arts, BONIA’s collaboration with these young artists from RDI demonstrates the brand’s rich heritage in exploring diverse ways of integrating culture and fashion. RDI students were tasked to create five different exhibitions depicting Art Deco, Pop Art, Surrealism, Cubism and Fauvism in-line with BONIA’s Spring/Summer 2013 concept. A project of this scale is the first of its kind.

The BONIA retail space takes up the second level, shop there, pick out your favourite Bonia bags, spot the bags autographed by their ambassador - Sonia Sui as well as enjoy a cup of coffee at their cafe.

BONIA has partnered up with The Garden Slug to create a little tête-à-tête area for walk-in guests during the 10 days. A cosy, humble diner offering comfort food, The Garden Slug also offers Southeast Asian iced teas and aromatic coffee to start the day or end a quiet evening with.

So, look forward to more events happening, just like the few I attended. A pow-wow session with Bonia Chief  Designer - Mr Gaetano de Franceshi, where I got to discover his inspiration behind BONIA’s Fall / Winter 2013/2014 collection and learnt a few tips of caring for that leather bag of mine.

I also had an intimate TEA x CRAFT session with designer and owner of WEEKEND SUNDRIES - Michelle Chan, where I got to learn how to turn simple everyday objects into accessories. She was so sweet to teach and I got to make my very own leather bracelet...

And last but not least, it was the thank you party to celebrate and award those fans who have been supporting Bonia. There was on the spot baked waffles and temporary tattoos to be done...
