I Was Part of the Biggest CapitaLand x POP MART Unboxing Bash in Southeast Asia

I was thrilled to be part of the Biggest Unboxing Bash Ever last weekend, 2 December 2023. Hubby and I joined 165 POP MART fans at Funan, unboxing their blind boxes all at the same time. A new record in the Singapore Book of Records was formed for the highest number of people unboxing blind boxes together in Singapore. 

Presented by CapitaLand and in partnership with POP MART, the event saw fans from Singapore’s POP MART fan community setting the record at this inaugural unboxing bash. As part of the unboxing experience, each fan was gifted a surprise blind box from the latest festive collections released on 17 November 2023 and many other best-selling series including the Molly Imaginary Wandering Series, SKULLPANDA The Ink Plum Blossom Series, Disney 100th Anniversary Bell Series, and Sweet Bean Frozen Time Dessert Box Series.

The Level 1 Atrium of Funan was transformed into a POP MART playground, bringing fans together and offering a one-of-a-kind lifestyle experience that fosters a greater sense of community. The Unboxing Bash provided like-minded fans with the opportunity to interact with one another and create lasting shared memories. POP MART Global ambassador Zong Shijie also made an appearance and shared the special moment with fans.

They also got to enjoy other activities which included toy swaps with other collectors and photo-worthy moments with captivating life-sized 3D sculptures of Molly, Dimoo and SKULLPANDA. Fans had the chance to test their POP MART knowledge through trivia games and earned POP MART merchandise as reward. They also shared with one another how they became fans of POP MART and started their toy-collecting journey.

The online registration for the event was open for one week and saw overwhelming responses with a total over-subscription of 658%. Setting a new record for unboxing, the bash is a testament to the unboxing craze that has been making waves amongst fans across ages and generations. 

Yup, I'm one of them too. Who has recently taken a liking to the SKULLPANDA series. It first started with me liking these dolls with hair buns and dramatic makeup (given that I am a makeup addict), each pairing with a theme, makes me want to see what designs keep coming up. Then I guess it's the thrill of never knowing what you will get that makes me want to join in the craze and get my full collection. I went down the spiral and I want to collect them all!

The Biggest POP MART unboxing bash in Southeast Asia will be happening at Funan on 2 December 2023, from 2pm - 3pm! Presented by CapitaLand fans can get to experience the thrill of unboxing as the craze has made waves in Singapore with the many beloved POP MART series.

Fans get to prove their love for these collectibles by pitting against each other in trivia games and stand to win attractive POP MART merchandise too!

POP TOY SHOW Singapore 2023 Was A Blast!

The POP TOY SHOW was an absolute blast! Although my wallet took a hit, I was thrilled to snag some exclusive items.

Beloved POP MART characters like Molly, Hacipupu, Labubu, Dimoo, Pucky, and my personal favorite, SKULLPANDA, were all featured. Their statues adorned the event grounds and the area around Marina Bay Sands.

When I arrived, the place was already buzzing with fans, eager to grab their spots for the special launches. Despite the crowd, the event was well-organized, making it easy to navigate through the different sections.

The talented artists behind these charming characters were also present for meet-and-greet sessions. Though the queues filled up quickly, I managed to catch a glimpse of them. It’s incredible to witness the global fanbase these small blindbox characters have garnered.

Beyond the familiar POP MART characters, there were also booths showcasing other blind box collections from China. The Lulupie figures were particularly captivating with their moveable and magnetic parts, evoking a sense of innocent childhood playtime.

Simone Legno, the creative genius behind my favorite Tokidoki brand, also made an appearance to support the event. It’s always a pleasure to see this friendly Italian artist and his vibrant works. Despite my best efforts to resist, I couldn’t help but snag some of his merch.

Another highlight was the collaboration between HeeDong & IVY BOYS. Korean artist Aaron Chang, inspired by his pet dog, creates clean-cut 2D art with a varsity vibe that perfectly aligns with the latest fashion trends. This unique style made it one of my favorite features at the show. There is some Web3 incubation in the works, but it's a realm I'm not too familiar. Fans who dabbles in this brand new area, can come on down to check it out.

Local toy makers and artists from CoPlay have a special featured area at the event. It’s always a proud moment to see our homegrown talents showcased on the global stage. It was nice catching up with the artists since we last met at CoPlay. You can find show exclusives at their booths too!

There’s still a lot happening this weekend at PTS, and the one event I'm most excited about is the SKULLPANDA x CLOT collaboration figurine reveal. They're keeping it under wraps until tomorrow, and I’m hoping to catch a glimpse of it before it gets snagged up again.
